Bought my first house and we got a 26 inch snowfall... spent 2 hours shoveling our long driveway... needless to say I purchased my first blower today, haha! Thanks a bunch for these videos brother, very helpful!

Awesome, I just saw your video on how to start it up and I was wondering if you had one for how to operate it...well you do and you just saved me some deciphering the manual, which I still am reading to make sure I know everything to make sure I don't do anything crazy
So this is what I did. Emptied old gas out replaced with new high test gas ...it would not start after a few attempts so I let it sit in it overnight. The next day I didn't do anything and went to start it and maybe from sitting overnight with new gas it started right up. So I will surely empty gas at end of season from now on. Ty for your help.
The oil will differ with what engine is on your machine. I would say you will be ok with 5/W30 but you should check the owners manual that came with the machine or look up the owners manual for your model online. My opinion is to use the highest octane at the pump and if you have ethanol free gas where you live then that is a big plus!
The reason your machine only runs on choke is the gas went bad inside the carburetor from sitting too long. You will need to remove the carburetor and rebuild or replace. After you have it running good again I would switch to Aspen4 fuel to keep it from having the same issue. Here is a link to what is involved with removing the carburetor.ua-cam.com/video/NTtIvF9tzak/v-deo.html. Then you will need to rebuild it if possible. Here is a link that may help you rebuild it. How to clean and rebuild the carburetor. ua-cam.com/video/_ngK6l6_J7g/v-deo.html. It should be close to what you have.
My opinion; it’s not a poor design with the carburetor. It’s bad fuel inside the carburetor that makes snow throwers either run bad or do not run at all. You will need to have the carburetor rebuilt or replaced and then I would suggest using only high test fuel. Definitely use fuel stabilizer. And I use the marine grade stabilizer that helps with moisture. Ultimately you must store the snowthrower without fuel in the carburetor. Which is hard to do. Or you should run your machine once every other monthTo make sure it will be there for you when you need it.
Me too. Was able to use it a couple times it just refuses to stay running new spark plugs had it supposedly fixed for a hundred and some dollars and ran once after that and I cannot keep it running I don't understand it
Hello sir. Just bought a used blower similar to this. Noticed my throttle lever sets the rpm to fast regardless of where you place the lever. The machine runs at fast only. What kind of adjustment do I need to make?
That is almost impossible to diagnose without seeing the machine and not knowing anything about the machine. That being said, a few things it could be (1) if the machine has sat for a long time without being used, the carburetor throttle shaft could be stuck wide open from gas going bad inside the carburetor. (2) someone turned the idle screw all the way in and now the throttle is stuck in the full open posting.
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines Thank you for your reply. I am not a small engine guy, so I suspect I will need to take it in for service. Ughh. Not what I wanted on the first day of ownership. Snow is due in on Monday...it works okay. Tends to bog down under load...is that another indicator of carb issue?
@@Falcon47-47 Was it a new purchase or used? Yes, it sounds like some sort of a carburetor issue. What is the model number off of the tag at the bottom of the handles in the center of the transmission cover. That is if your standing behind the machine.
Most likely you have bad gas in your carburetor meaning you will need to either flush the carburetor remove the carburetor and rebuild or replace the carburetor pending on how bad the carburetor is inside from bad gas. Gas goes bad in small quantities quickly. Within a few months the machine may not start do you fuel going bad in the carburetor
Hi also wondered if it's better to use high test gas in it. Yes I'm sure it's bad gas as it has sat in it 2 summers because of not having to use last year just started it and it did start but spewed black out. Have only used it 2 times the first year.
My blower does not go 180 degrees. Goes all the way to the right, but only just past center to the left. Is this by design or is this not right? Thanks
I will assume you are talking about the chute where the snow comes out? If yes then you will need to adjust the rod that goes from the handle at the control to the shoot. You must pull the clevis pin at the end of the rod where it connects to the upper exhaust chute pull the hex shape bar out of where it is seated and turn it accordingly to get it into the correct position so your chute will go 90 one direction and 90 the other direction, then line up the holes and re-install the Clovis pin. You most likely will need to find a video on it to help you but at the moment I do not have one or a machine to show you with.
Hi, I have the same one with the 24 inch but same 208cc engine, it's brand new, brand new gas with no ethanol, but it still needs 1 click of choke to run, I've read that these engine run too lean hence the need for a little bit of choke, do you know what size jet I need to change?
I have a 26" snowblower (craftsman) and have a hard time knowing how much oil to put. The oil stick can be tricky when trying to see, if its at level high or not. Also, when you put oil, do you need to tilt the snowblower sideways, say, halfway, to add oil, or have it normally the way it is? Thank you.
Check oil level before you run machine and make sure the machine is on level ground before checking. You will get a true reading that way. Check the oil level with machine sitting in its normal position.
Try tapping on carburetor bowl with a metal object. Sometimes the float inside the carburetor will get stuck in the closed position and it needs to be jolted free. If that doesn’t help, the carburetor will need to be rebuilt or replaced.
I bought one of these 4 years. I know this is crazy, but I never used it--all the original plastic and everything was still on it. Never put fuel or anything in it. We brought it to our new house with a much larger driveway, and I went through the entire machine to make sure it was ready for the storm hitting us tonight/tomorrow. Fuel tank was dry, nuts and bolts were tight, levers were perfect tension, and oil was clear and at the correct level. It started right up on two pulls. However, when I move it from choke to run it starts to bog down. So, I left it at half choke for 10-15 minutes then tried moving it over to full run, and the engine sounds erratic like rpms surge at consistent timings when it's at full run. Any suggestions on diagnosis?

Ethanol free gas for sure.

@@JohnsonsSmallEngines What is "high test fuel."
Use the highest rated octane at the pump. I think most places for the high test is 93 octane.

You do not need a new jet, just a rebuild. If you can find someone with ultrasonic cleaner, they work well cleaning carburetors.

The carburetor has a blockage in it making it hunt and surge. The carburetor will need to be rebuilt or replaced to correct the issue.
