It does help SA when PSDT takes an AB (Blind-side flanker) right into touch as part of a ruck “clean out” 2:27

When we do go wide there's just a lack of attacking IQ unfortunately, this is why we rely so much on Willie Le Roux in that 10 channel.
Damian De Allende has always had a great offload game doesn't get used at all for the Boks, I am convinced that a smart attack coach would simply tell a player to follow/support run every time De Allende goes into contact and instruct De Allende to look for the offload if it's on. Boks would create far more attacking opportunities.
As opposed to the grubber and up and under (which are perfectly fine) but another arsonal in their attacking game can be easily added.
Most people criticize the way Boks attack, I say change absolutely nothing but add more variation.
Deion Davids is the forwards coach, Nienaber is a defense coach.
That levves us with Sticks and Felix Jones, who are both analysts, so we don't rellly have an attack coach like Tabit for France or Mike Catt for Ireland and it shows.
The appointment of a specialist attack coach will in all likelihood be the difference between us defending the world cup or losing gallantly

SA clearly has attack shapes (1-3-2-2) or (1-3-3-1) depending on the situation so they clearly have some form of structure. But what I don't think they have are patterns to their play. Take the Kurt-Lee getting tackled into touch, it was clearly not on and they didn't set up for it which is one of the reasons they don't score a lot of tries in the red zone. Compare that to and Ireland (not looking at their more advanced shapes but the patterns) they will deliberately pick which forwards to carry and where all to setup the backline. Ours is basically smash, smash and if it doesn't work send it wide for X-factor. We have the shapes and everything but we just don't have a pattern besides the league style 4/5 rucks and box kick.
Now saying this even though the attack is not quite cut-throat at scoring tries the Springboks funny enough can see all the weaknesses in the opposition defence. It's clear from the way the Springboks set their shapes out and how they kick.
My guess is they just need more time to develop these patterns and to get it fluid such that the attack doesn't become a liability (Like it was for NZ in this match where the less NZ kicked the more points SA got and the more pressure SA could exert)

wonderful insight and thanks for sharing! I think we will know a bit more as the comp progresses to where the SA attack is at.
