This is by far the best review of this RTT. I am in the same position; I have a Thule crossbar and all these parts are coming in as I go. Not the most strategic but it is what it is. Now that it has been 6 months, are you noticing a dip or sag in the tent by not having a full rack? Ive always wondered if this was a symptom that comes with time. Appreciate your quick and brutally honest review. You rock! Subscribed!
Hey, thank you very much for the kind words. So far, I have no dip or sag! but that is also because I made sure to put the Thule bars with the spacing recommended for the rooftop tent. I think if they are too far apart that may happen. Not having the rack has just represented more work in putting it on and off, but other than that, I haven't had any issues and I have driven a lot with it. Cheers!
check out the year-later review! and here is what I purchased: Replacement Classic Soft Shell Rooftop Tent Mounting Slide Plate And Bolt. Thanks for watching!
I do not think rooftop tents are for me personally ... I also don;t camp much lol. Really comprehensive review though. I'm sure thule bar owners are going to be very happy you are covering this
@Beautyiswild - Can you provide the fixtures that you are talking about? I am going to buy this tent with Thule bars, and would like to ensure it all works!
Hi! The fixtures come with the tent. I would just go to Home Depot and buy the same bolts and nuts, but make sure they are better quality. The thule bars I have are the wingbar evo 135. My last piece of advice is to remove the bolts before removing off the car... I unfortunately made some dings on the top from not doing that my first time.
Just trying to help you out here but get yourself another set of nuts screw one on all the way up to the top just to stop that piece from jiggling around so when you're undoing the other nut you won't strip it out hope it helps
1 Year later, would I buy again and recommend? watch the video here: ua-cam.com/video/zZLbapP-DBQ/v-deo.htmlsi=9jKXayth8yU7L1bP

why do you have to pack up the roof tent when leaving?
you can't drive with it open. it would tear the hinges and probably the ladder off.
@@BeautyisWiild gotcha thank you
