As someone who eats avocado everyday... I’m still impressed when people who don’t know what they’re supposed to do with an avocado cut through the pit-
They use sheer will and pure strength 😆
I used to know a guy who carved broaches from avocado seeds, they have a seam down the middle where they'll split if you apply force. If you get "lucky" you can hit that weakspot when cutting, and split the avocado if you try to just cut one in half.
That was a very sharped knife!

Sophie Um. Americans have been familiar with avocados for quite sometimes now (as in decades). You can practically get avocados in every metropolitan city and the suburban areas. And plus, some of the 50 people here are Europeans and Africans who never came in contact with an avocado. And some people are just that sheltered or were probably raised in food desert areas.

It is so common that the injury has its own name "Avocado Hand".

Some cucumbers have very tough skin that’s difficult to eat. If you want to try eating the skin then I recommend english cucumbers.

I know right? The other day we bought two identical avocados and let them ripe a few days. The day came, the first was unripe as hell, the second was rotten. No avocado was eaten that day
you can mostly tell by the collor not too green nor completely black and texture helps too not too firm at the touch but not to mushy

It happens to me every now and then when I'm first separating it. It's like some of them have really soft pits and the knife just slides through them instead of stopping
The ones we have here have rathet soft pits and if your hands are heavy and knife sharp enough, you can cut right through them and may even wound your hand.

Phython & Foxy I was never shown how to do it. I knew there was a pit inside (or nut) so I sliced it in half like the chef and opened it. I knew you couldn’t eat the skin so I scooped it out with a spoon which is easy. The only problems a person should have when it comes to avocado is knowing whether or not is it ripe..
