As an older gamer, I just wanted to let you know, the differences between Mario and Luigi date back to the American Super Mario Bros. 2. Luigi jumped higher, and was slower than Mario in that one. That is also where Peach got her floating ability from
@@boredbales12345 I suspect that is because of how 2 player worked in those games. They didn't want to give one player an advantage as that could lead to fights. Two Myths for SM64: 1. While you're accused of cheating by Koopa for using the cannon, using warps are fair game. 2. If you crawl, you can go up much steeper slopes before sliding back down compared to walking or running normally
About the boo laugh at BBH. It might be a similar situation to the fog in JRB, where it disappears completely if you collect the first star in the level at any point. I know for sure that the fog in JRB doesn't reappear at all after collecting the first star, even if you select the first star again.
I have one: The reason Lakitu is filming you in Super Mario 64 is so that Bowser can watch you. This is why you can hear Bowser’s laugh when you die or try to enter a door when you don’t have enough stars.
Hey, I don't know if this counts as a myth but, more like something i'm curious about. In Zelda BOTW there's this girl obsessed with guardians that you have to show pictures to unlock the sanctuary. There's a walking guardian further on the beach. If you lure it into her direction, will she still freak out like every NPC or have unique dialogue related to her passion for guardians? Thanks for all of your videos!
The map looking like Japan is true, with the castle being located roughly where Kyoto (where Nintendo's headquarters is located) is on a real map of Japan :)
The cannon isn’t the only way Koopa the Quick can accuse you of cheating. On your way up the mountain, there’s a teleporter that takes you almost to the top instantly. If he SEES you use it, it’s the same result. You’re accused of cheating. But if I remember correctly, he won’t, if you use it outside of his view.
About ol Koopa the Quick. If you are behind in the race, and use the teleportation shortcut up the mountain to get ahead of him he will also complain about you cheating. Side note, the big Penguin Slide race has some similar issues if you use the shortcut in the wall if you are actually behind said penguin in the race. Reminder, to my knowledge these only work if you are running behind on the races and then try to shortcut your way to the finish. If you are ahead in the race and use the shortcut they don't seem to notice that you cheated since you were already winning.
Luigi has always jumped higher than Mario since the first SMB on the NES. He even clearly does so at 12:11. Edit them closer together and it’ll be easier to see
There's a revised version of Mario World on the SNES, where it's on the same cartridge as Mario All Stars. The revised Luigi sprite actually originated there, not on the GBA port.
These ones might be well-known, but: the island in World 4 in Super Mario 3 is shaped like a giant turtle. Additionally, there is an island in World 3 between most of the levels and the castle that is shaped like a mushroom.
The only reason I think the boo laugh is faked is because look how the door opens in the clip with it. It opens internally into the mansion whenever the player actually opens the front door it opens externally not internally
0:05 you're right, it has been more than 29 years - in fact, it's 39 years as next year marks the 40th anniversary of Mario's solo debut in 1985 (probably a small detail that has been said in the past but this is just for those not in the know)
that's weird with the wigglers. have experienced it numerous times. they get red and angry, speed up, and attack whoever's passing by. wonder what the trigger is? blue shell? certain lap?
Here's a Majora's Mask detail: The first time you see the Clock Tower open up, the cutscene will play out differently if you're standing within the fenced-in area around the observatory. I know this plays on the very first cycle, but I don't know if it does for every one after that. I also don't know if it's just outside the observatory or if this counts for anywhere in Termina Field.
Some interesting myths here... here's another one for you! Myth: in Super Smash Bros, besides from the smash ball, Pokéballs are the only thing Wario cannot eat when using his neutral special
I believe that when the commenter was referring to the baby penguin in Super Mario 64 copying your movements, they were referring to how said penguin will belly-slide when you dive. Also, you could try jumping off the left edge of the starting platform in Whomp's Fortress, then moving forward and to the right to get upwarped, as shown by pannenkoek2012.
12:28 Idea about whether or not Mario & Luigi are the same in Super Mario World: What about Luigi in Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World? Luigi got his own Sprites in this Rerelease. I know that for a fact. I cannot say if he jumps higher or feels more slippery to control. His Fireball Throwing Animation is weird AF for sure though.
could you investigate the hidden stat invincibility in Mario kart 8 deluxe? is it just a relic in the code? or does it actually affect your driving? thanks!
On 9:40 with the baby penguin I think what the other comment mean was instead of copy your movements the penguin will belly slide when you slide on the ground
In Majora's Mask if you redo the escorting mission after you have obtained the Romani's Mask from Cremia she can rewards you in 2 different ways, or she can give you 200 rupees or she can give you a hug. Which one she chooses is random.
SM64: 1) If you challenge the big penguin again in the slide after you have collected all 120 stars and defeating Bowser the penguin will be fat and the race against him will be more difficult. 2. In the same level in "Wall kicks will work" star you can get it without any wall kick just jumping in the spindrift above and flying down to the star. 3. In JRB you can get "Blast to the stone pillar" without the use of the cannon by pressing rapidly the up key until you get to the top of the stone pillar then sliding and jumping to the star.
The baby penguin WILL slide if you do a dive slide near it. It will even slide against ledges without falling off. As for some fun stuff in Mario 64, if you do a baseball slide by running, holding Z and pressing B you can bounce ONCE across lava without being hurt. If you get the powered up triple jump from Yoshi after getting all 120 stars, you are nearly invincible while flipping and sparkling. The bounce will also stop you from taking damage from lava as well as ANY fall damage. I seem to remember even after the bounce and you stop flipping but have not touched ground for the second time yet, you are still impervious to fall damage and almost every other damage source as well.
Actually, the differences between Mario and Luigi trace back all the way to Super Mario Bros 2 ( AKA the Lost Levels ). Where the single player CHOOSES who to use. Luigi jumps noticeably higher, but this is traded off by him having much less stopping power. Like every surface is ice for him. They’ve only used this distinction between the brothers in single player games, however, as forcing player 1 and player 2 to deal with different mechanics would be unfair. Especially if they would be used to playing single player, where they would always use Mario. So in games with Luigi serving solely as a player 2 avatar, he tends to be identical to Mario, albeit palette swapped.
In the first mission of Toy Time Galaxy, on the planet where the Gearmos tell you that a robot has kidnapped their friends, there is a hidden Life Shroom.
