One of the most useful things in Majorras Mask is the time-stop song glitch on the 3ds version. If you play a song that gives the status message "it has no effect/"this does not work here" you can walk around and as long as you do not press A or B, time will not flow. This works best using the incomplete Gorons Lullaby or Elligy of Emptiness when outside Ikana Canyon.
@@drwily And if you want another myth for Wind Waker, how about this? You can instakill darknuts (the doglike dudes with the breakable armor) by freezing them with an ice arrow and jump-attacking with the skull hammer, but due to how quickly they unfreeze the timing is very tight. I think it works in WWHD as well, but I don't have a Wii U so I can't confirm that part.
@@acyclicpepper34 I don't think howling does anything, because there's no way to howl on demand like there is for the instruments of the other games (and even though conductors' batons aren't instruments I'm counting the Wind Waker as an honorary "instrument"). The harp I could see, though.
@@mickkelley3776 Yeah, I double-checked, and it's only in OoT, MM, and WW. Every other game with breakable wooden signs requires Link to exit and re-enter the area to fix them.
As for the Sun Song: It IS in the game, you just can't play it without hacks. If used it speeds up time rapidly in real time (as opposed to is skipping time like the Song of Double Time). It was likely planned to be included but got cut in favor of the Song of Double Time.
6:50 Tatl knows what's going to happen because you can go back in time after going to the moon, even if you don't beat the game. Not only is her dialogue different, but the cutscene of the mask coming alive is different and less dramatic.
8:50 - Actually this is meant more for the _first_ cycle through, when you're stuck as a Deku Scrub. The idea being that some might think that you need to wait for him and the other carpenters to finish the tower to get to the clock's door, so this is supposed to prompt you to try something else, eg; the Business Deku.
The only person that might care about his death would be Kafei. Not because he cares about Sakon's life, but he'd care because he wouldn't be able to find his hideout and recover his stolen mask. I think if he was given the chance, Kafei would likely kill him himself lol
The Sun's Song is in the game's files, it just goes unused as an OoT leftover. If you use cheats to force yourself to get the song, the text box will flash red as time rapidly starts passing. This is useful if you want to fast-forward to a specific time, though it's VERY precise due to the sheer speed at which time moves and needing to enter a loading trigger at the exact time you want it to stop at. And fun fact, if you use it in an unmodified copy of the game, the text box will briefly flash red instead of saying "You played the Sun's Song." like it does for every other song in the game. And Saria's Song is left over in the game as well, but while it does say "You played Saria's Song.", it doesn't actually play a sound clip of the song itself, and as far as I'm aware it has no effect in-game (though I may be wrong).
6:53 - Tatl knows cause its possible to rewind time back after reaching the Moon (still if you wants to keep the Fierce Deity Mask you have to defeat Majora and trigger the credits which triggers a autosave at least in the original game, I'm not sure about the remake) which can happen if you didn't get all the masks for the Lunar Children wearing the Boss Remains! Basically a completed game is like a New Game+ but uses the game's three day cycle mechanic to rewind back to the first day, which grants you access to all the masks including the Fierce Deity (can only be used legitimately in Boss Rooms, though there are exploits that allow Link to equip it and its super easy in the 3DS version)! Tatl will also try to warn Tael after seeing Skull Kid hit him on a previous cycle and express anger at seeing him hit Tael over and over due to her reliving the Three Day cycle with Link! Link isn't the only one experiencing the three day cycle multiple times as Tatl in along for the ride! Its an important narrative aspect that some tend to forget!
I think it's a pretty simple reason for Tatl remembering what happened. She's aware of all the time loops as She's with Link thru the entire journey and tells us what the next objective is each time we go back. As for how she knows after we've defeated Majora and Link departs Termina in the final scene, perhaps the auto-save counts as a Song of Time use just after receiving the Fierce Deity mask as an in universe reason for a normal game mechanic. From a lore point of view, you would never go back after the threat is vanquished and put the world in danger again. But maybe his 1st time fighting Majora (in theory, not saying it actually happens) Link didn't have all the masks to get Fierce Deity and couldn't defeat Majora, or thought it was to easy with the mask and went back to have a better challenge. Those are the only things I can think of lol.
Tatl knows what Tael will say about Skull Kid when you go back in time when inside the moon and since the game saves when you beat the game it acts like you went back in time therefore giving you that new dialogue.
@@drwily could you restart the day before finishing the game, or does the game not allow that at that point? That's the only way I could think it'd make sense.
@@drwily What do you mean? What does Link leaving, after everything's over, have to do with the fact that his fairy has been along with him this whole time and seeing time repeat? She saw the last time you did this, because you can't do it on the first try.
4:57 - The Song of Double Time and Inverted Song of Time are immediately available after learning the Song of Time! The Scarecrows don't actually teach Link those songs, as its nothing more than a tip they give him! Presumably they are an innate power of the Ocarina of Time which becomes available during Link's adventures in Termina (Presumably a side effect of Zelda's prayer that Link receive protection from the Goddess of Time)! There are several songs that carry over from OoT such as Epona's Song, Song of Time, & Song of Storms!
By the way, if you're wanting to swim with Zorro in another area inside the Forest temple. The water is actually deep enough to swim to a certain extent Although there's not much point to it Also note that you want to remove the poison in the water. In those particular areas before swimming , otherwise you just keep getting hurt On a different note. Yes, you can actually use the Sun song in Madras. Mask, however, there are only 2 ways to do it. One way involves a clever series of glitches. The other way is to actually enable it using a cheat code from a game shark.
Regarding #19, You can't swim in deep poison water. There's some in Woodfall Temple. The swim animation kept getting cancelled by the damaged animation. I'm not positive, but I think if there was deep enough water in the Southern Swamp area you might be able to. The water there seems to be the only poison water where the damage doesn't cause knockback.
Thank you and this is suuuuupppperrrr sweet, if you ever have any ideas be sure to leave them in the comment because i read a lot of the comments especially when a video is new. Also the fact that you sat at your aunts, eating lucky charms while watching my stuff is adorable.
Every single reused model with a triforce has the triforce removed (except dor zelda in that one cutscene but that doesn’t count) the only exception that is in termina is some pillars in ikana canyon but only in the original n64
also, for "things Always playing out the same", yes, the Weather is hard-coded into the schedule just like the NPCs (it WILL rain on the 2nd Day, from 7am to about 6pm)...but at first, i thought you were going to mention something more NPC-related... for example, saving the Romani Sisters and Ranch from "them" (and subsequently defending Cremia's milk shipment from being attacked) the first time around, Cremia thanks you with the Romani Mask, for "such an adult thing youve done" helping out...but the Next time you save the Ranch, Cremia wont have a mask to give you (because you already have it), so she gives you a big ol Hug instead...compared to other "once only" rewards, repeated completion usually just gets Rupees or a Recovery Heart, but you get an entirely-different Textbox and Animation for helping Cremia again...
2:52 Besides Goron rolling, the Bunny Hood would also probably make it easier to keep up. Although the increased speed does come with the trade-off of having less accuracy, which as anyone who’s played the game will know, can sometimes make it frustratingly hard to grab those lone, straggler rupees if you don’t catch them at the right angle on your first pass. Then you end up doing that thing where you’re trying to steer Link to that exact spot but because of how directions work in the game, you just do a circle around the item you’re trying to pick up, and then more and more panic builds inside as it begins to flash, threatening to disappear. You’ll either get it or the last second, or end up having wasted a bunch of time, and in a scenario like this where multiple things are being dropped, you probably should’ve just left it in favour of picking of more total rupees instead of letting them all disappear (it’s especially unadvisable to bother if it’s just a green or even a blue rupee).
I was thinking about this, but I was wondering if the reverse song of time would have any influence on this particular bird. I knew about it's existence, but never messed with it much since it's a cheapskate.. id rather rob the bird on milk road by hitting it with a light arrow or whatever caused it to drop a big ruppee
@@PhillipJr89 I never considered that, but I almost always play with slowed time, so the experience I spoke of would’ve happened with it. Though, it’s my understanding that using the inverted song of time does in fact proportionally slow/scale down the movements of all the npc’s. So that should include the bird too.
There's a couple of things I found out about Majora's Mask that, whether common knowledge or not, I thought would be fun to share. The large bell on the balcony of the Stock Pot Inn can be messed with. If you place a bomb or powder keg next to it, the bell will ring when the explosives go off. Try 3 bombs, especially. You can also punch it as a Goron, but it will swing back and knock Link over if punched multiple times. The second is that you can get a small amount of cash by interacting with the couple's mini game shop signs. If you shoot the targets or toss a bomb into the basket that makes up the sign outside the shop, a handful of green rupees will come out.
The sign for Honey and Darling's shop has three spots that each spawn three rupees when attacked, the two targets and the basket. There are places like this all over. The drawing the Skull Kid made in the past and the shell above the outer wall outside Clock Town's west exit are two examples, there's also the center mask above the sofa in the Stock Pot Inn lobby and a completely non-descript part of the outer wall of Clock Town. The one in the Stock Pot Inn is particularly noteworthy for its obscurity as the only way to trigger it is to stand on the sofa as Zora Link, hold Z, R, and B to activate the Zora Barrier, and then backflip.
Thank you so much for this video! Majora's Mask is not just my favorite Zelda game, it's my favorite game of all-time; so anything new I can learn about it is greatly appreciated.
The Guay might not drop much money in vanilla, but I found out about it through the MM randomizer, where my usual settings make it a massive deal. Its rupee payout is split into twenty individual drops (four of which even change if you keep up with the Goron roll), each of which can be a potential item location.
The changing starrs thing is bothering real, and purposeful. I don't have it, but there are videos about it, but as per some magazine interview, they didn't think that purposefully so that the players feel as if their unique file is just that. Unique.
You can in fact somewhat swim in the swamp if you dive as young link before transforming into Zora. Fun fact, Goron can roll through the water because it is shallow enough even when poisoned.Unpoisoned water certainly can be swam through.
4:19 The Sun Song is in Majora’s Mask but goes left unused. You need a gameshark code to enable it. It won’t show up in the pause menu but it does work if you have the code enabled. I’m not sure if it was removed in later revision versions of the game.
The Sun's Song is actually in Majora's Mask, just unused. If you force it into your inventory, it works 100%! It even advances MM's clock to the Night/Day of the 1st/2nd/3rd Day!
In regards to Zora Swimming in the poison waters, you can't do it INSIDE Woodfall, but you CAN initiate a swim in the waters with the Big Octos. While in the non-poison water as human Link, Dive in the water and while mid-dive put on the Zora Mask. You'll be in a weird state where you can't roll. But if you just press B once you start swimming in the shallow water as Zora Link. Then you can swim to the poison water where you can start the swimming animation, but you won't get far until you take damage from the water and have the swimming be interrupted.
15:35 - I think I remember something...... I think it was VaatiVidya who mentioned that, much like Pokemon Blue and Green, Zelda (1) had an ambitious plan that all cartridges would be unique, with different enemy compositions, level layouts, ect. Of course, this never got past the concept stages, as even today this would be highly impractical: but a small algorithm to randomize the stars on a skybox, based on a name input, seems feasible.
#18 reminds me of something funny: between Clock town and the entrance to Goron territory, there's a wall that shows different musical tunes, that will give you Rupees if you play the tune correctly... some of the tunes it displays are actually tunes from Ocarina of time! i really got some rupees from it by playing "song of the sun"! a rather clever little in-joke! #13 try confronting Majora when you have only 3 "remains", just for fun. and i believe it only shows different dialogue at the end, IF you got the Fierce Deity's mask in a previous cycle!
The sun song is in Majora's Mask, along with Saria's Song. You can't just play them the same way you can't play them in OoT unless you learn them. Since there is no way to learn them in game, you have to either use the debug menu to enable them or you can use this code below. Both songs are missing the "You played [Name of song]" text, which causes the text box to flash briefly, however the Sun song works, speeding up 12 hours in real time, which you'll see the npcs move quickly through their schedules if you do that. Saria's Song however only has the song trigger for it, but no playback data, causing it to change the bgm to the final days theme. Majora's Mask (U) 1.0 Enable Sun Song and Saria's Song 801EF72D 0007 811EF72E FFFF
Number 19: perhaps you missed something here: you can use Zora's mask to swim before the Goron Village after you finish the boss in the temple - the ice gets melted at the frozen lake.
I scrolled down a bit and I started to feel a little surprised as I didn't see a comment about that for the very first few but now it makes sense that at least someone commented on that. 😆
i just realized... those are forced-perspective balls, a classic n64 trick because spheres require too many polygons to be worth doing. so they couldn't have dropped them anyway without a lot of work put in to making them bounce relative to the player's view and what have you.
Mayor Dotour has unique dialogue for if you talk to him while wearing Kafei's Mask. But like, who would think of doing this? He only reacts to it if you clear out the room with the Couple's Mask first, so you've technically already found Kafei, but Dotour reacts to seeing Kafei's Mask by saying something about his disappearance and hinting to knowing about his relationship with the Curiosity Shop guy. Though I have to wonder if perhaps this was meant to be a hint that failed to be such with the meeting overriding any interaction you could have with Dotour.
Yeah i made a whole theory video on this aggggeeeeess ago, even mentioned it in this video, but i could show this off again in a new video because that theory video is super out dated. So i am screenshotting this.
Hold on, you said that you poured water on deku baba and they didn't grow back? Are some of the deku baba different in spawning mechanics? I know a lot of them regrow on their own, but I never hung around them to notice some of them might not. The deku baba in caves regrow as well as some in woodfall. I am assuming players killed these regrowing baba for the myth. Edit: Did you know you can use the boomerang as Zora to kill the Big Octo?
regarding Deku Babas and Water-- there ARE Babas that 'grow back' without reloading the area (i think theres a Grotto where little "ground munchers" grow-- they dont stand up on Tall Stems, or give Deku Sticks upon defeat), so chances are, it was just a Coincidental water-dump that just happened to line up with the Baba's natural respawn time...
There is a very specific set up you need to do in order to obtain the sun song. The programmers left the song in the game but it's dummied out. Speed runners (used to) use the Sun Song to speed up time for things like defending the dairy farm from the aliens. It is a very complicated glitch that I believe involves accessing the debug menu so while this is technically true it's uses are very niche and it's acquisition an unreasonable ask for a casual player.
You actually can swim in the Southern Swamp area, but not exactly in the intended way. If I remember correctly you need to be Link, dive into the water, and then use the Zora mask. Doing that will trick the game into thinking you’re In deeper water, and will let you swim. It’s an odd trick and I’ve only tried it in the N64 version, but if I remember correctly you can swim through the poison, just occasionally taking damage as you go
There is no requirement to learn the song of double time or inverted song of time from the scarecrow, you can play all three song of time variants from the moment you have the song of time.
Yo, did you know in the n64 version of the game, you can get into Saxon's Hideout early by clipping by rolling in the gap between the door and the slab in front? Also you can use Fierce Deity's Mask in there AND use that to go anywhere with Fierce Deity's Mask...but you won't be able to to leave if you enter Clock Town or if you go into any buildings.
you can zora swim in the n64 version of the game in the swamp, it just requires you to shuffle the mask on and off and hit A at the right time to start it....although the poison flinches you out of it
Re. Sakon, *If you blow him up on the night of the 1st day:* • The Old Lady laments the fact that she can't sell bigger bomb bags. • Sakon doesn't appear in Ikana Canyon anymore (until you reset time and "revive" him). • The Bomb Shop doesn’t sell the bigger bomb bags, because you done blew 'em up. • Sakon doesn’t arrive at the Curiosity Shop on the 2nd night. He does if he steals the bomb bag (more on that further down). • Kafei won't be in Ikana on the 3rd day. Sakon needs to arrive at the Curiosity Shop in order for Kafei to stake out his hiding place. • The Curiosity Shop owner sells the All-Night Mask on the 3rd night. *If you stop the burglary without blowing up Sakon:* • The Old Lady thanks you and rewards you with the Blast Mask. • The Bomb Shop sells the bigger bomb bags. • Sakon still prances around in Ikana during the day, as though unfazed by the night before. • Sakon doesn't show up at the Curiosity Shop on the 2nd night. To paraphrase the shop's owner: "T'night, he got nuthin' to sell." • Kafei doesn't arrive in Ikana. • The Curiosity Shop sells the All-Night Mask on the 3rd night. *If you fail to prevent the robbery:* • The Old Lady laments not being able to sell the bigger bomb bags, just as she does if you make Sakon go boom. This dialogue only happens if you witness the robbery and let Sakon make off with her wares. • Naturally, the Bomb Shop doesn't stock the bigger bomb bags at their store. • Sakon prances in Ikana. • Sakon arrives at the Curiosity Shop sometime around 1:00-2:00 am (don't remember which) on the 2nd night. He tries to barter with the Curiosity Shop owner... and gets short-changed for it. • Kafei pursues Sakon to his hideout. • The Curiosity Shop sells the bigger bomb bags on the 3rd night, but not the All-Night Mask. So as you can see, making Sakon explode results in a combination of events that are otherwise exclusive to one of the other two scenarios. This was a very well thought-out, meticulously planned Easter Egg that Nintendo implemented seamlessly.
I thought with you taking a step back that it was GAME OVER for the myth busting videos, glad to see you're still doing some videos like that as well as other things
well i felt like covering older titles now, and getting 100% roms online is quite easy so i can easily test stuff, also still wanna do a video on the super mario super show
Sun song is indeed in the game, it's an OOT leftover and functions if called with cheats, glitches or simply by playing the randomizerhere's also a myth for the next one Redeads are blind, sneaking around them will not trigger their hostility, this also applies for OOT
Well, regarding #15 sun song is still in the code of MM and randomizers have an option for enabling it. It forces the clock to move forward without cutscene, so you can (with some trial and error) manipulate the hours.
1:30 Stone Tower Temple has multiple water sessions, also the moon labyrinth. 5:00 Sun Song exists in the data, but you have to use cheat devices or hacks for it to work. 18:40 Because the game saves after you beat the game, so the game just acts like you played the Song of Time again, so she literally knows because she going through it once. And the devs didn't had only one year to develop the game. Yes, that's the terms Miyamoto told them, but when the project was advancing, he joined and gave them more time. Also, I don't think things you wondered randomly should count as a "myth".
the last portion i disagree with, this is just myth busting after all and in the first video of a game i often have to come up with stuff myself or things i saw online, and in general i found most things included in this video interesting
One cool thing is how you can enter sakon's cave early by clipping past the stone door using a crack on the side and precise roll attack. Took my some practice to do 😊
#9, before you paid for training, the icon for the button the Great Fairy Sword was set to was faded. The Great Fairy Sword is restricted in the Swordsman's School. If you use a cheat code to disable the restricting of items so you can pull the Great Fairy Sword out inside the school, you can use for the training sessions.
The myth regarding dialog changes at the top of clock tower is honestly blowing my mind. Does that imply that sometimes they willinglu go back in time anyway even after defeating Majora? Or does it suggest that they truly cannot leave?
If you dive as human link then interrupt the dive animation by equipping Zora mask, you can dive and swim as Zora in any depth of water. When I tested this, the swim was canceled by the posion water.
The part with the milk bar tender at the end I've always loved I've always worked as a clerk in the shop person on my life and I feel that's him putting forward a brave face for his customers has any customer that walks through those doors on the last day of the world would be his favorite customer how to make sure it makes him feel fulfilled
If you're looking for another place to swim as Zora, try the mountain village after you defeated goth and it's unfrozen (the part with bridges and.plataforms near the goron race). It becomes a lake infested with skullfish. though.
15:45 like you said, it could be a side effect. Maybe some names take up more memory, thus delete more stars when the game is being run. Or maybe the developers just wanted people into a bit of astrology to be pleased.
In regards to number 13 Tatl remembering the conversation with Tael... I'm fairly certain you don't have to beat the game for that to happen, you just need to have seen the cutscene and entered the moon before. As a kid, I vaguely recall entering the moon and dying during the Goron mask trial, and seeing that scene variant when I went back to the clocktower.
I remember being able to swim as zora, clearing Woodfall Temple and then I think the spots where the Octorocs cover the loading zones, the water should be deeper enough to swim.
You absolutely can swim in the swamp water as a zora. You must first enter the swimming state as a human and then put the mask on in the water. Zora Link will keep the same swimming state Human Link had. This function is exploitable in the N64 version to put the Fierce Deity Mask on in certain bodies of water.
Are you going to cover the gong in the Swordsman's School in a later video about Majora's Mask myths? For the longest time I thought it was completely random whether hitting it spawned a blue rupee or not, with a really low chance of it happening. Only very recently did I learn that it spawns a blue rupee if you hit it as the hour is changing.
5:40 ngl one time I actually spent a whole 3-day cycle just chopping signs into pieces then healing them even got to the point that I was practicing different sword strikes on it to cut it into different types of pieces and seeing how I could scatter them
About the powder keg and giant bomb flower: If you count Hyrule Warriors, those giant Bombchu in the Death Mountain level probably take the title for largest explosive in the series (though I could be wrong about even that)
@drwily Eh I could see it being canon, honestly. Maybe it takes place at the end of the split timelines (via the portals), converges them all together, and that's why in BotW there's stuff from all three timelines strewn about. Just a theory, but I like to think that's how it went down. Makes the most sense to me.
4:36 the sun song used to work in beta tests of the game and was re-enabled on randomizers, also you play some of the old songs near the wall for some rupes
13 occurs after your first time going to the moon. If you return to the first day then go back to the encounter with skull kid the scene plays out that way.
the most interisting part to dig on number 12 would be the after math of that, coz sakon keep stealing stuff, if im not wrong, he even has something to do with kafei quest line, so would be interisting to se if how you handle the bomb lady quest affects other areas and quests
Yes, saving the old lady's stuff is exclusional to the Kafei (and therefore also finishing the Madame Aroma, mailman, and Anju) questlines. Sakon has to steal the medium bomb bag and sell it to the pawn shop (and alternatively, instead of buying it at the Bomb Shop, you could buy it on the 3rd night from the pawn shop-- at a greatly inflated price), drwily shows at 8:05 on the video -- so therefore 2nd night at 12:45 AM-- the clip of Sakon selling it to the item/pawn shop guy (which, note, is NOT listed in the Bomber Notebook, you just have to know when it happens to see it, like the interactions between Anju and: her grandma, the mailman, and the goron that happens to have the same name as you), because that's when Kafei sees him from his hidden backroom, and follows him back to Ikana. I know this because whenever I replayed, my last cycle, I used to do a "perfect" run and try to do everything on that cycle: beat all the minigames again, get all the temple faries, save Romani and Cremia, purify all the undead in Ikana (before re-clearing the temple)-- and as many of the Bomber Notebook sidequests as possible. And helping the old lady or killing Sakon prevents you from doing all those other ones-- as well as when you get Kafei's letter to his mom, you have to choose to either give it to her directly for the usually-last bottle, or to the mailman so she orders his workaholic ass to leave (then he gives you his hat 'mask' to check a mailbox for a heart piece).
The Sun Song is in the game, but is just leftover from Ocarina of Time, so has to be accessed by cheating or hacking. The same is true for Saria's Song, but it doesn't have an effect.
About #3, i think he does have some different dialog for some masks. Im not sure which ones though. I also think it could be when the others are still in the room, or possibly on the 2nd or final day. I think Kafei's mask might have some dialog but its been a long time since i played.
When you asked if it always rains day 2... Yeah every action in the game is plotted on the timeline... So much so if you play the song of half time it will make everyone who walks set trajectories walk at half speed. Which means turn off half time when you want angie to come to the kitchen
I always wonder that if you kill sakkon and then proceed with kafei quest until you wait for sakkon to show up in akana canyon, does he not show up since hes dead?
You actually can swim through the poison water as a Zora. First, you dive as human in the clean water, put on the Zora Mask while still diving, then press B. You can then swim through the water as Zora.
6:53 That happens if you play the Oath to Order and go to the moon but you don't beat Majora. And then go back in time. You don't have to beat the game.
You can goron punch the giant boulder blocking Romani Ranch to destroy it. It takes a few punches, but it's faster (and cheaper) than buying the big bomb every time. At least, I remember being able to punch it. Could have been a dream
The song of healing putting the sign back together, if I remember correctly you get told it does work. I think its the truth stone or something that says so
U can actually swim in shallow water if u dive as link and then but the mask on while under water, maybe the magic shield could prevent damage from poison
6:17 its not really from just beating the game, if you play the song of time while on the moon you'll go back to day one and save, so if you go back the game actually acknowledges you already tried once, thats why Tatl knows, because you already been through it The reason most see it after beating the game is because it does save your progress when you bear it
If you talk to the builders while wearing the Kafei Mask, one of them will be upset about the upcoming wedding. I think some of the others had interesting dialogue, but I don't remember it.
That's awesome @dr.wily try the myth shooting an Arrow to an Eye switch that's frozen it melts then shoot it again with an Ice arrow to see if it freezes again Specifically the area of Forest Temple

Hi
One of the most useful things in Majorras Mask is the time-stop song glitch on the 3ds version. If you play a song that gives the status message "it has no effect/"this does not work here" you can walk around and as long as you do not press A or B, time will not flow. This works best using the incomplete Gorons Lullaby or Elligy of Emptiness when outside Ikana Canyon.
The sign thing happens in Ocarina of Time too, as well as Wind Waker. OoT requires Zelda's Lullaby, while Wind Waker requires the Wind God's Aria.
yups got this in the folder as well
@@drwily And if you want another myth for Wind Waker, how about this? You can instakill darknuts (the doglike dudes with the breakable armor) by freezing them with an ice arrow and jump-attacking with the skull hammer, but due to how quickly they unfreeze the timing is very tight. I think it works in WWHD as well, but I don't have a Wii U so I can't confirm that part.
You can also do it in SS with the Goddess's Harp, and TP by howling iirc.
@@acyclicpepper34 I don't think howling does anything, because there's no way to howl on demand like there is for the instruments of the other games (and even though conductors' batons aren't instruments I'm counting the Wind Waker as an honorary "instrument"). The harp I could see, though.

Tatl knows what's going to happen because you can go back in time after going to the moon, even if you don't beat the game. Not only is her dialogue different, but the cutscene of the mask coming alive is different and less dramatic.
thank you
Yeah it changes after you go to the moon and turn back time
8:50 - Actually this is meant more for the _first_ cycle through, when you're stuck as a Deku Scrub. The idea being that some might think that you need to wait for him and the other carpenters to finish the tower to get to the clock's door, so this is supposed to prompt you to try something else, eg; the Business Deku.
The deku babas have permanent grass to show which ones respawn and which ones despawn on death. You didnt try on a respawning deku baba
So sun's song is actually in the game and sarias song is also in the game but u can only obtain them with the debug menu or with cheats
The guard does not care that Sakkon is dead either.
that man be cold
The whole town probably hates his guts since he's been robbing people for a long time, so they're thinking good riddance.
It has the effect of making the final hours music start playing.
Tatl knows what Tael will say about Skull Kid when you go back in time when inside the moon and since the game saves when you beat the game it acts like you went back in time therefore giving you that new dialogue.
yeah i guess that is the only thing that makes sense, but still, a bit of 4th wall break because the credits show link riding off
@@drwily could you restart the day before finishing the game, or does the game not allow that at that point? That's the only way I could think it'd make sense.
@@drwily What do you mean? What does Link leaving, after everything's over, have to do with the fact that his fairy has been along with him this whole time and seeing time repeat? She saw the last time you did this, because you can't do it on the first try.

lmao he is GASLIGHTING MEEEEE

In those particular areas before swimming , otherwise you just keep getting hurt
On a different note.

@@devonm042690 Oh! I didn't know about the mask in Stock Pot Inn. I'll have to try that next time I pick the game up.
I wonder if it rains of day two specifically for those new players who don't realize you can bottle water.
Thank you so much for this video! Majora's Mask is not just my favorite Zelda game, it's my favorite game of all-time; so anything new I can learn about it is greatly appreciated.
3 days is because hardware limitations and complexity, devs wanted a full week, but due to N64 limitations it was quickly spiralling out of control.
true true
The Guay might not drop much money in vanilla, but I found out about it through the MM randomizer, where my usual settings make it a massive deal. Its rupee payout is split into twenty individual drops (four of which even change if you keep up with the Goron roll), each of which can be a potential item location.
well it drops some green rupees, a 5, and a 20, so in total its like 30 rupees or something
The changing starrs thing is bothering real, and purposeful. I don't have it, but there are videos about it, but as per some magazine interview, they didn't think that purposefully so that the players feel as if their unique file is just that. Unique.
13:50 - Orrrrrrrrrrrr, to be a bit cynical: he means it as much as _I_ do when I say "thanks for coming by!" at work.
You can in fact somewhat swim in the swamp if you dive as young link before transforming into Zora. Fun fact, Goron can roll through the water because it is shallow enough even when poisoned.Unpoisoned water certainly can be swam through.
guess i gotta try this your the second person who mentions this
This person only uses like, seven different animated emotes, but somehow makes them fit EVERYWERE!
5:47 - This is a recurring exploit in some games, as Zelda's Lullaby has the same properties in OoT!
true i covered that in an oot mythbusting vid!
It even advances MM's clock to the Night/Day of the 1st/2nd/3rd Day!
yeah i saw others mention this as well
In regards to Zora Swimming in the poison waters, you can't do it INSIDE Woodfall, but you CAN initiate a swim in the waters with the Big Octos.
#18 reminds me of something funny:
between Clock town and the entrance to Goron territory, there's a wall that shows different musical tunes, that will give you Rupees if you play the tune correctly...
some of the tunes it displays are actually tunes from Ocarina of time!
i really got some rupees from it by playing "song of the sun"!
a rather clever little in-joke!
Saria's Song however only has the song trigger for it, but no playback data, causing it to change the bgm to the final days theme.

i just realized... those are forced-perspective balls, a classic n64 trick because spheres require too many polygons to be worth doing. so they couldn't have dropped them anyway without a lot of work put in to making them bounce relative to the player's view and what have you.

Edit: Did you know you can use the boomerang as Zora to kill the Big Octo?
well they seem to dissepear upon death and so you cant interact with them at all. Also screenshotting that

hells yessss
regarding Deku Babas and Water-- there ARE Babas that 'grow back' without reloading the area (i think theres a Grotto where little "ground munchers" grow-- they dont stand up on Tall Stems, or give Deku Sticks upon defeat), so chances are, it was just a Coincidental water-dump that just happened to line up with the Baba's natural respawn time...
It’s an odd trick and I’ve only tried it in the N64 version, but if I remember correctly you can swim through the poison, just occasionally taking damage as you go
I like how much your audience interacts in the comments. You have an active fanbase.

Re. Sakon,
*If you blow him up on the night of the 1st day:*
• The Old Lady laments the fact that she can't sell bigger bomb bags.
*If you stop the burglary without blowing up Sakon:*
• The Old Lady thanks you and rewards you with the Blast Mask.
• The Bomb Shop sells the bigger bomb bags.
• Sakon still prances around in Ikana during the day, as though unfazed by the night before.
• Sakon doesn't show up at the Curiosity Shop on the 2nd night. To paraphrase the shop's owner: "T'night, he got nuthin' to sell."
• Kafei doesn't arrive in Ikana.
• The Curiosity Shop sells the All-Night Mask on the 3rd night.
*If you fail to prevent the robbery:*
• The Old Lady laments not being able to sell the bigger bomb bags, just as she does if you make Sakon go boom.

Also, I don't think things you wondered randomly should count as a "myth".
the last portion i disagree with, this is just myth busting after all and in the first video of a game i often have to come up with stuff myself or things i saw online, and in general i found most things included in this video interesting
so yeah, i mean if you want to see something specific let me know

The myth regarding dialog changes at the top of clock tower is honestly blowing my mind. Does that imply that sometimes they willinglu go back in time anyway even after defeating Majora? Or does it suggest that they truly cannot leave?
I could have sworn you could swim. If you go from the tourist center and try to swim, I believe there's a gine line for doing so.
If you dive as human link then interrupt the dive animation by equipping Zora mask, you can dive and swim as Zora in any depth of water. When I tested this, the swim was canceled by the posion water.
yeah i will retest that one
The part with the milk bar tender at the end I've always loved I've always worked as a clerk in the shop person on my life and I feel that's him putting forward a brave face for his customers has any customer that walks through those doors on the last day of the world would be his favorite customer how to make sure it makes him feel fulfilled
Something I never noticed until this video is that the skull on the Mighty Powder Keg is of a Goron.

You absolutely can swim in the swamp water as a zora. You must first enter the swimming state as a human and then put the mask on in the water. Zora Link will keep the same swimming state Human Link had. This function is exploitable in the N64 version to put the Fierce Deity Mask on in certain bodies of water.
yeah this is on the list now, many folks suggested this
Are you going to cover the gong in the Swordsman's School in a later video about Majora's Mask myths? For the longest time I thought it was completely random whether hitting it spawned a blue rupee or not, with a really low chance of it happening. Only very recently did I learn that it spawns a blue rupee if you hit it as the hour is changing.
wait what are you talking about?
5:40
ngl one time I actually spent a whole 3-day cycle just chopping signs into pieces then healing them
even got to the point that I was practicing different sword strikes on it to cut it into different types of pieces and seeing how I could scatter them
About the powder keg and giant bomb flower: If you count Hyrule Warriors, those giant Bombchu in the Death Mountain level probably take the title for largest explosive in the series (though I could be wrong about even that)
treu true but that isnt canon
@drwily Eh I could see it being canon, honestly. Maybe it takes place at the end of the split timelines (via the portals), converges them all together, and that's why in BotW there's stuff from all three timelines strewn about. Just a theory, but I like to think that's how it went down. Makes the most sense to me.
4:36 the sun song used to work in beta tests of the game and was re-enabled on randomizers, also you play some of the old songs near the wall for some rupes
Maybe the night-sky variance was something that was going to have more importance?
13 occurs after your first time going to the moon. If you return to the first day then go back to the encounter with skull kid the scene plays out that way.
oehhh oke didnt know that
0:22 is crazy 💀
the most interisting part to dig on number 12 would be the after math of that, coz sakon keep stealing stuff, if im not wrong, he even has something to do with kafei quest line, so would be interisting to se if how you handle the bomb lady quest affects other areas and quests
NOW THIS is worth testing, screenshotting this
Yes, saving the old lady's stuff is exclusional to the Kafei (and therefore also finishing the Madame Aroma, mailman, and Anju) questlines.
There is poison water that is deep enough in the Woodfall Temple. Could be a testing ground for Zora swimming.
When you asked if it always rains day 2... Yeah every action in the game is plotted on the timeline... So much so if you play the song of half time it will make everyone who walks set trajectories walk at half speed. Which means turn off half time when you want angie to come to the kitchen
I always wonder that if you kill sakkon and then proceed with kafei quest until you wait for sakkon to show up in akana canyon, does he not show up since hes dead?
yeah this is on the list
I think you may want to retry #2, you had double defense and I think it'll hurt you more without it.
You actually can swim through the poison water as a Zora. First, you dive as human in the clean water, put on the Zora Mask while still diving, then press B. You can then swim through the water as Zora.
trying this
6:53
That happens if you play the Oath to Order and go to the moon but you don't beat Majora. And then go back in time. You don't have to beat the game.
You can goron punch the giant boulder blocking Romani Ranch to destroy it. It takes a few punches, but it's faster (and cheaper) than buying the big bomb every time. At least, I remember being able to punch it. Could have been a dream
Definitely a dream
Absolutely a dream, lol. Powder Keg is a 100% necessity
nahhhh cant be, still testing it though
The song of healing putting the sign back together, if I remember correctly you get told it does work. I think its the truth stone or something that says so
cant remember lmao
U can actually swim in shallow water if u dive as link and then but the mask on while under water, maybe the magic shield could prevent damage from poison
well it seems to shallow so no matter what i do as a zora he will stand up
There's a variation of Deku Baba that regrows normally. It's the one that always drops sticks. You should try the water on that specific type
6:17 its not really from just beating the game, if you play the song of time while on the moon you'll go back to day one and save, so if you go back the game actually acknowledges you already tried once, thats why Tatl knows, because you already been through it
The reason most see it after beating the game is because it does save your progress when you bear it
yeah someone else mentioned this as well, which makes sense
If you talk to the builders while wearing the Kafei Mask, one of them will be upset about the upcoming wedding. I think some of the others had interesting dialogue, but I don't remember it.
screenshotting this
Of course the old lady is not innocent... she is basically a weapons dealer!
Love the hidden Luigi in the mouth of the mask of truth
sharp ;) also those are in ALL the vids, my stuff is filled with easter eggs, even hylian text has secrets
Finally seeing a New Video of you Doc miss watching the videos Buddy👌🏾
well i am back on the myth busting grind, i wanna cover some older titles, currently working on oot
That's awesome @dr.wily try the myth shooting an Arrow to an Eye switch that's frozen it melts then shoot it again with an Ice arrow to see if it freezes again
Specifically the area of Forest Temple
The mayor's dialogue changes if you wear the wedding mask.
First myth: you could have tried it with a reespawning deku baba. Either a withered one (those which grow upright), or a mini baba
yeah i am gonna do some more testing
