    Detroit would’ve been the best thing to happen to Melo. Would’ve taught him to buy into the team mentality and defense. Melo would’ve started Day 1. That team needed a go to scorer and Melo would’ve been it. They may not have beaten LA, but they would’ve had a dynasty moving forward. People forget he took a Denver team that won 16 games prior to drafting him to the playoffs his rookie year.

He was a top prospect in high school, goes to college averages monster numbers and leads his team to national championship as a freshman. Almost any other year he's the consensus #1 pick. It just so happened he was in the same draft as the most hyped prospect of all time. So really this is more of a what shouldve happened as opposed to just a random could've happened.

      @@jnorth5689 3 or 4 may be a stretch. However I definitely don't think 1 or 2 is. Really to me though, the biggest part of the what if is what happens after that core falls apart. Melo would be seen as a winning player as he won in his only college year and would've won in his early years in the NBA. And being around championship culture from the beginning might've made him a more effective and less ball hog of a player in the long run. Or maybe he sees it as his opportunity to put up numbers without having to defer. (Like kobe right after shaq left or Westbrook when kd left) Who knows?

    Carmelo would have a ring if he'd listen to Labron & DWade's plan to join up. (Bosh was the back up plan) However, melo wanted the immediate max money.....and got what he wanted. Now shut up, and enjoy your money and fine wife.

  • @cellgames808

    The answer is NO NO NO. There's a reason Carmelo doesn't have a ring. His style of ball doesn't work in the playoffs were defenses are usually better. Playing iso isn't what the Pistons were know for. He would have thrown a wrench into their system.

    Rob Parker says that Melo wouldn't have gotten any playing time and they wouldn't have even won 1 chip, but that doesn't make sense. If he wouldn't have played how could he have altered the outcome?

    If Melo was Drafted by Detroit, they still would have won the title in 2004 and possibly the following year. If he was a good fit it probably would have made him more of a two-way player going forward, but Melo will be in the HOF regardless. When you look at his college season, NBA career averages and Olympic/FIBA numbers he should be a 1st ballot Hall of Famer.

    Chauncey was in the conference finals for 7 straight seasons.. Robs forgetting that he made it to the finals two previous seasons ( which he obviously was in the conference finals ,winning one and losing the other and also lost to the nets in 2003 in the conference finals. From 2003-2009 Chauncey made it at least the conference finals ( six with the pistons and one with the nuggets in his last year of that decade

    First of all, Melo would have been a luxury because Darko didn’t give them anything. Under Larry Brown, a young Melo fresh out of Syracuse would be a great fit. Even if he wouldn’t be a great fit, Detroit still could’ve won with Melo coming off of the bench.

  • @BryanJ.Badger
    @BryanJ.Badger 4 роки тому

    Rookie Melo or Wade, off the bench would’ve been nice. Then RIP/Prince off the bench would’ve been in like ‘06. So yay maybe 3 rings. Or never get Sheed and never get a ring. ‘05 and ‘07 still hurts. Developing Darko hurts the most.

    The Melo disrespect is crazy! They would have won back to back with Melo. They could have brought him off if the bench and he would have been instant offense for them. People honestly think as a rookie coming in he wouldn’t have bought into playing defense? Stop it! He was never known to have an ego coming out of college. He would have bought in and been great for them. Them drafting Darko over him was just flat out stupid.

  • @WHITE_TAN
    @WHITE_TAN 4 роки тому

    Bro these guys hate is ridiculous!! Rookie Melo on that team would of been COMING OFF THE BENCH!! A much needed scoring machine off the bench to help them win those 2 years back 2 back. These guys talking about melo like he was prime melo 25yrs old and the main guy... The PISTONS would of also had a longer run as an elite team once melo made the starting line up.. LB would of known how to use Melos elite scoring ability and protect him defensively just like he did for A.I.. Not to mention melo was more then capable to guard one on one and those Piston teams would of pushed em to do so they wasn't with that lol.

  • @swanmoore3479
    @swanmoore3479 4 роки тому

    Melo would have fucked the Pistons up. He would have hindered the great Tayshaun Prince's development and we probably wouldn't have ended up with Rasheed. The 04 Pistons chemistry was perfect and with a young flashy rookie in the mix, I'm not sure we would have got the championship.

  • @philmoe

    Those Pistons went to 6 straight eastern conference finals and back to back finals in 04 and 05. You mean to tell me that melo in his third year wont be favored against dwade and the old man heat or lebron and no one else cavs of the next year? he would of went to 5 finals at least two rings

  • @urzafrank
    @urzafrank 4 роки тому

    Everybody's take on this is nuts. The pistons would have without question won the chips in 2004 and 2005 with melo. First the guy he is replacing is not Tayshan it is darko. If he did not play defense then he could not get on the floor. if he is not helping the team then he has the same role as darko and they won the chip in 2004 and since darkko was a non factor if melo is not working they still win the exact same way. and Since he has to play defense to get on the court his defense is much improved. and a melo who is better defender would have helped them win in 2005.

    This is such a ridiculous discussion. This is a one to one comparison of whether or not Darko or Melo is better. Did Darko do ANYTHING significant on the Pistons to make them a championship caliber team? NOOOO!!!! Did Darko do anything DEFENSIVELY that Melo couldn't do? NOOOO!!!!! Is there ANYTHING Darko significantly BETTER than Melo? NOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! So if I take Darko off that team and put Melo on and everything else is the same, the question is could Melo have helped AT LEAST AS MUCH AS Darko? That is an easy YEESSSS!!!!! Maybe Melo doesn't reach his Hall of Fame stats if he's deep on the bench. Maybe like T-Mac he leaves to go to another team so he can "be the man and start" and then showcases more of his offensive game, but there's no reason to think Melo couldn't match Darko's production.

    6:02 The Pistons would have extended that 11 game streak holding opponents to 70 points or if it weren't for the New Jersey Nets.
    The Nets, down 69-88 intentionally fouled the Pistons to get the ball back and reached 71 with an Aaron Williams tip-in with 1 second left. They were blown out but were visibly laughing and celebrating the loss rather proudly I remember.
    I remember this game like it was yesterday and rob parker got paid to know this stuff while he was covering the pistons 🤦🏾‍♂️
