Worth $250,000? | 2023 Range Rover SV - One Take
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 лют 2025
- It's all about the details. Does the all-new Range Rover have enough tech, leather, and luxury to compete with the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Bentley Bentayga?
This is not a simple model refresh. There's a new unibody that's 35% stiffer. The suspension uses a 48 volt stabilizer system and GPS to improve handling. A variety of engines- including an upcoming plug-in hybrid- feed power through a buttery 8-speed transmission.
But propulsion is only a piece of the puzzle. If you want to take money away from Rolls and Bentley, you need fancy things. This Range Rover SV LWB (long wheelbase) has them. It starts at $218,000 but just three options push this one over $250k. That said, a base Rover starts at $104k, comes with a 400HP twin-charged inline-6, and still has the gorgeous shape of the blue blood models.
Is it worth it?

Note: Land Rover's Press Release refers to this as the 2022 Range Rover but their configurator site calls it a 2023.

NEW SHIRTS!

How would you spec your new Range Rover? 4.4L TTV8? Plug-in hybrid? Or wait until the full EV is available?
Not at the dealer because I can't afford it
I will not fall for your user engagement ploy so easily!
I would wait for the full EV
I'll hold out till the reliability package becomes available 🤞
By buying something else.
That "driving by my mom" line was excellent.
The interior is rather nice 👌🏻
It’s a beautiful vehicle. I love his comparison to a brick in flowing water, that’s right on point. I get they want more money, but whats their profit margin? $250,000.00?? And it’s not even the top spec? World is getting crazy/greedy.
@@SilentRacer911 For 250k, I’d get the new RR Sport & another 100k sedan lol
I rather have a flying spurr for the same price + a W12
Great review! I've had my new 7 seater about 2 weeks. It's great in every way. Zero complaints in the first 1500 miles. I literally feel more relaxed after my drive when I get where I'm going. My 6th Range Rover. My n=1 in all that ownership was 2 mechanical problems, none ever left me stranded. 4.6 P38 had electronic gremlins but was a joy to drive. Water pump blew on my 2003 HSE. No way am I rich enough to pay $250k for the SV though. The 6 banger 7 Seat SE is plenty luxury for me. It's an all weather luxury commuter and might see a couple ranch roads but certainly no "off road." I'll leave that to my 232k miles 100 series Land Cruiser.
Woah you got yours fast. And I agree. I work for LR and just went to Vegas yesterday for the retailer launch. Spent time in the LWB SE 7 Seater, First Edition SWB & SV SWB. The LWB 7 Seater SE was by far the best bang for your buck.
How long do you usually keep them for?
@@TheSmokingTire Usually 2-3 years. I've had a mix of straight Used, CPO with warranty and New. Some leased, some bought. All business expensed. I like this new one the best and with the 4 year warranty, that's likely how long I'll keep it. I agree with your review of the ride. I have the 23s because I like how they look and don't hit a lot of rough pavement but I kept a set of 21s for trips to the mountains and they are nice and cushy. Other reviews have pointed out that the weight of the V8 up front on 23s makes it worse. So again, very happy with the 6 cylinder.
@@photilal1960 Autocar Magazine is making a big deal about LWB ride in the back not being compliant; SWB being the much better choice. You disagree?
@@crh8063 I'm somewhat surprised lr engineers haven't focused on tyre option ride quality given the exposure its getting. Its crazy to me that something that's desirable for aesthetics gets comprimised on functionality of ride quality to the extent of noticeable commentary
This is such a great breakdown for the video runtime. Kudos to Zach on this one.
Even though I respect your thoughts, sometimes I see REVIEWERS as people who just have very little clue as to the amount of engineering and craftsmanship and it's associated financial, organisational and statutory challenges required to design, build and improve a great product.
Really love how much they've cleaned up the design. I think with this gen, the gulf between the sport and a proper range rover is much bigger. At least in terms of looks
I laughed out loud watching that rear cupholder reveal itself over the course of what felt like 30 seconds. It's got good comedic timing if nothing else.
This car seems very luxurious. I like the interior materials, sounds quiet and the 4 wheel steering is a big plus. It's also cool that it primes for upcoming turns. Rear seat room seems good and I like that it comes with the appropriate extras to do things like eat/drink, cut drugs, and sleep. However, I wonder what the long-term reliability of the drive train and the various screens is.
A lightly loaded HSE is all most people need, anything else is for ballplayers and their wives. It's always amusing to see the comments about Range Rovers and their unreliability and then go to the expensive mall near me and see the sea of moms driving them who clearly DGAF about any of that. LOL
If you’re leasing it and they give you a loaner when it’s in the shop, and you can afford that lifestyle, why would you stress? It’s not a lifetime investment, it’s a short term luxury.
@@joeracer302 Do you have time to go to dealership all the time? Also, stall on a highway in a 200k car is not fun either.
@@joeracer302 yeah they fall apart after 4 years because it's meant to be leased for 3. And the poor should that gets it second hand with weeks of warranty gotta deal with whatever breaks after that.
Zack forgot to mention the Range Rover went back to BMW and used the engine currently in X5 /X7 M50is for this generation
I agree with you on the rear wheel steering statement. I have the 812 and when I’m taking a fast turn accelerating actually causes the car to rotate more which feels counter intuitive. On the other hand I actually didn’t know my 991.2 GT3 had RWS until someone told me because of how well implemented it is.
Rear steer on the EQS feels like the entire rear sub frame is connected by rubber, very intrusive and unnerving. Good to see Land Rover get it right.
That's a good way to put it.
I still think GMC’s rear wheel steering is on another level with the Hummer twins.
@@mybro727 the rear steering on the gmc hummer is really good 👍
You complain about minute things. That vehicle is a work of art.
Yes my husband changed my tires with new rims on mine and it completely change the driving. Over 60 miles it shakes a lot and I do have wind noice coming in which it happen to be a loose seal on the windshield which they are known for that.
Agreed on the rims, i off road my Rangey sport 4.4 turbo all the time in the aussie bush where I live. The 22" low profiles get trashed to destruction. I put discovery wheels and better off road tyres on now. Better ride on rough tarmac and no bent rims. Way better in the muddy stuff. Pity most Rangey owners dont get them dirty, thats what they are built for. Mine is seldom clean.
The doctor joke was a good one. Congrats for doing what you love!
This will depreciate by a brand new LX600 in 3 years ! Truly for the money is no object crowd
Kind of a Rapide moment. Charging that much because they can lol
Because that went well for Aston Martin.
Great video! Your sound quality has been getting better and better lately. I don’t know if it is because the vehicle is so quiet or the noise canceling headrest but in this video you almost sound too good. If that’s possible.
11:50 lmao join the club man.
Even a little noise in a car of this class is a dealbreaker.
Awesome video 😊 thanks a lot
Thank God for showing me that I will buy one for myself
Its great to hear Zack finish a sentence. Less quips though, serious business in a Range.
The cloud probably heard you laughing at it being wrong earlier and learned..
It probably did!
Got a SWB, 23s are an issue for ride quality. 21s are ideal
Brilliant advice on challenging the in car caste system to uptier off that 3rd row
Viva la revolucion!
Very well put. So many are focused on “how quick is it” but it’s nut about that. It’s a statement & experience wrapped in one… great review!✊🏾
11:20 white ceramic to match the owner’s teeth - nice touch
Another great review Zack!
Nice production value Zack! Loved it
Bravo zack
I totally agree. My 22's on my autobiography are harsh on broken pavement. I would take 20s
Great review Zach 👍🏻
Zak´s reviews are so good now! Congratulations! I like the clean design from outside - the interior...loss of character to the one before? Like more anonymous? Too clean if that makes sense? Also if it rattles the way it does it would drive me crazy at this price. With 250k range rover is way out of its league - trying too hard. I would go for something else for sure.
fully agree about the wheels size note....23 is way to sensitive for any road imperfections...my car is on 20s and it's already not comfortable unless the road is perfect
Great review nice video thanks 👌🏻👏🏻👍🏻
$250,000 gucci taxi. Thanks for the video Zack.
Worth every penny💰💰
Great review Zack! Definitely holding your own against the big guy!
So a $250,000 Range Rover has a rough ride? Is that not a fatal flaw for this type of car? If you're going to put massive wheels on a car, at least go the way of the RS6 and make sure the dampening / suspension can handle it properly.
It’s 100% more comfortable than a RS6 lmao. There are levels to this and bigger rims are always gonna cause a slightly rougher ride. That doesn’t mean it rides rough though.
Quarter of a million dollars and only the tips of the stalks are that nice brushed metal not the whole lot of switch gear? Exactly the kind of stuff I'd expect JLR to cheap out on.
Good review, good use of that short time you had
Very good review. Covers main points of the vehicle in detail
Price points TO THE MOON🌝
Great review! My first time seeing this host and channel, he seems quite knowledgeable
👉BRO THIS THING IS MASSIVELY LUXURIOUS I MEAN WOW😎‼️
Best Range Rover review, thank you...
Love a Klapman review 👍 obscene vehicle but I’d get one if had the moolah…
worth 250K? ohhh heck nahhh...250K minus 100K,and then divided by 2 is what it'll be worth after a couple years of driving it around.
Let’s face it, there’s more luxury in a full size, latest model Merc or Audi than you’d even have the time to appreciate on a daily basis. So why do people buy these over the smarter buy’s? Status/prestige. Pure and simple. That is it. They want to be the one pulling up at their local organic food market in the Range Rover in a parking lot full of Audi’s, Merc’s, Porsche’s and Bimmers.
Clean watch Zack!
Great Review!
Do non sv versions also get the serenity pack?
Good review mate.
That cup holder speed was hilarious
Extraordinary luxury vehicle ❤️❤️❤️
incredibly well done video
“My mom was complaining about me not being a doctor”. Thank goodness for noise cancellation 😂
Starts at $218k 😳 holy shit
It's crazy there are people who see that and think "It's not enough"
I suspect they'll have a hard time moving the $200K+ trims. It's not that clear what makes them worth nearly 2x other models.
Very good review.
Just beautiful
NO car is worth 250'000 bucks. The production costs of a Range Rover SV are in the neighbourhood of about 25'000 dollars. Including ... everything. New for you? Then buy it.
And yes, it's a cool car.
Love the VO ✌️👌
Holy shit imagine buying one of these out of warranty
Everyone’s Alexa’s going off as we watch this review on our TV 👀
Will this one be reliable?
Depends on your standard
Man this thing is beautiful, I would deffinatly buy one if I was a billionaire 🤣
250k? No obviously it’s not worth that, couldn’t be.
“For a car that looks like it was shaped by water moving over a brick for 100 years.” That was a GREAT way to put it.
People keep mentioning going to the mall like anyone actually ever goes to the mall.
Porsche runs circles around boat anchors !!!!!!
Wow all of these electronic interior movements won’t be working when I can afford one in 15 years 😂
Ok. That is not a vanity mirror my innocent friend. That is an incredibly handy tool to enable, um, let’s call it nasally inhaled party preparations.
Let's hope they've finally, FINALLY have got the reliability issue worked out.
They did in the last generation. The L405 has done very well compared to its German competition.
The thing is bud , I don’t want your opinion. I don’t watch TST for your opinion. I want Matt’s years of experience to speak on this car
Benteyga over this any day of the week, especially in that price point.
A bmw V8 in this
Range Rover has lost their mind with this pricing.
Love the jokes. Keep it up
The back seat mirror is for cocaine
Can anyone identify Mr Zach's timepiece? Very nice chronograph.
Let’s not forget that ford used to own Range Rover! So they didn’t “steal it” it was theirs!!
They have smaller wheels but maybe not for the us market ?
How about the reliability...? Improved !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s sooo nice to take it off-road....
And have a Toyota following me to take me back home..!
the other day my mom was complaining I wasnt a doctor 😆
It's all about the details. Laggy software, awkward climate controls, lack of steering feedback are the reasons why I will be looking elsewhere. Outside looks are not everything...
Are they using the BMW V8 now?
Never...ever get smaller wheels. What the hell is the matter with you. 23s barely look adequate on such a large vehicle
for this money i’m getting an extremely optioned out maybach gls
Is it BMW 4.4?
996 porsche is fine the comparison should’ve been something like the G80
Lotta l322 veterans are probably having some PTSD over LR going back to using a 4.4 bmw engine
21" wheels... Pfft--Imagine
Quarter mill damn
🇺🇸 I'll buy the LEXUS LX600F!
Not gonna lie this is the only SUV I approve of and would buy.
Wish there was more footage of the inside. In no way does this video justify that middle of the road suv being a quarter of a million dollars…
Welcome to another episode of things you won't buy
Is that the new Ford Flex?
