as someone whose attention span is also, as you say, "cooked", rest assured that i legitimately do not notice the lengths of time between your posts and it's always just a nice surprise for me whenever new content pops up
hi lexi ! i know you've had some hard times this year so far. i just want to say we all appreciate the effort you put into your content regardless. we're the same age but im a chronically ill girlie who cannot work but watches a lot of book content for comfort. so thank u !!!
You ARE my favorite book UA-camr. I love how real and valuable you are. I always look forward to your videos. Self care is so important. Happy you are back in the swing of things. If people truly care and love you then they will be by your side through the tough times. ❤
as a fellow book lovers stan - funny story is a DELIGHT. one of Emily's very best in my opinion. I felt so isolated and heartbroken reading it while also laughing out loud. It's so so good!! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on it 🫶🏼
I love how honest you are about sometimes not feeling like reading. Every reader experiences that (added bonus if you suffer from mental illness) it's okay. It makes coming back to reading even better❤
So happy to see a new video from you! Know you’ve been having some rough times (as someone who had been there, I’m so sorry and thinking of you)- hope you’ve been taking it easy and giving yourself some grace. So excited to add these books to my TBR!
I love how unbothered you are by the fact that you never read new releases on time, despite of being a booktuber. I never read new releases on time either and it's really nice to see!
I loved the naturals, the series gets better and more interesting with each book, also the love triangle did feel different from the inheritance games tbh
Same here! I think that series was one of the first ya thrillers I ever read. I reread the first one a few years ago and still really enjoyed it even with the ridiculous premise
Edit to say something actually meaningful: I read Notes on an Execution and Project Hail Mary from your recommendations and they were both amazing books!!! I have Betty, Office of Historical Corrections, and Circe in my TBR on my bookshelf ready to be read soon! Ty will forever trust your amazing recs
I can’t tell you how many authors or genres I have tried and loved based on your recommendations - your taste is immaculate. Also, your life is yours and you can take however much time you want between books and videos!
honestly i love how open you are about your personal struggles when they come up and think everyone should feel OK to take time for themselves! (although I know that's not what the various algorithms say so I get it)
The variety in this list is peak mood reader and I’m all for it! One Dark Window and The Spirit Bares its Teeth are also on my TBR short list for the summer
I vicariously read through you, since I work 50-60 hours a week & am chronically exhausted when I'm off. Thanks for sharing all these awesome stories with us, even when you're feeling down.
I read the spirit bares its teeth a couple months ago and loved it! I hope you have a good time with it, and just a restorative summer reading experience overall
you are going to LOVE bright young women. it is written with so much compassion and deep insight. it may be my fave book of all time now. (this is also me requesting a reading vlog of it) 🥰🥲
I’ve been rereading the naturals series once a year since I was like 14 years old. The way the whole story comes together by the last book always has me shook even though I know what to expect. First book is def my fave and has some crazy plot twists!! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts
Our Wives Under the Sea was my favorite book from last year. The audiobook is fantastic and I highly recommend. It just gives such weird and spooky vibes! Very atmospheric!
You nailed a specific point about how we can all literally read the same book and yet have completely different views on what we read, not counting the enthusiasm or the lack of too! I appreciate you selections to go along with my own and the list can never have too many to choose from! On a side note...I would have LOVED to either read your written Book Report or better yet, heard it live and in living color in Class! Cheers and Happy Hump Day from COW-lumbus, Ohio MOO 👋
6:56 Andrew Joseph Whites’ bookcovers have been illustrated by Evangeline Gallagher!! I love their work and they also illustrated the cover for Dead Collections by Isaac Fellman, which is one of my favourite books. I loved the design of that cover so much that i looked up the artist and found Hell Followed With Us through that (its on my shelf but i’m waiting for spooky season to read it)
I am also doing a YA summer! Regression to childhood is the vibe. Also if you were to read Spinning Silver, highly recommend waiting until winter, its definitely a winter book
your videos are a little treat every time one pops up in my sub box, and you've become my comfort person to put on in the background. and so glad you've been practicing taking care of yourself the way that you encourage us to do for ourselves :')
i've read the naturals last summer and when I tell you I DEVOURED IT it was a really fast and entertaining read literally perfect for the summer days when you don't want to occupy your brain much and you want to have some fun!!!
Lexi!!! You’re my favorite booktuber. When you’re “not on time” for new releases it’s honestly so nice bc it reminds me of books that I may have forgotten about. Thanks for being you!
I've been struggling a lot with school and deadlines so far this year, as one does, and I love sitting down and enjoying your content as a form of self-care; you are also the most relatable person ever, because reading for these last few months truly was a herculean effort - hope you are doing well, you are as amazing as always
These TBR videos are kinda inspiring for me. I want to be the kind of person who makes TBRs (I love to-do lists and organizing myself), but I also struggle with that self-judgement, so I stopped trying to do monthly TBRs ages ago. I think I'll try this.
this video is honestly giving me such a spark of creativity rn, having someone talk this eloquently, whether they liked or disliked the book, about my own writing is a freaking dream. plus the way you describe each book concisely and completely makes me want to read them, too! (love the categories btw LOL) plus plus your videos just make the work day more bearable, 100%. thank you for posting and just hope everything is going well for you! 🤍✨️
Summer has officially begun now that you have blessed us with your TBR🥲 Glad to have you back - we’ve missed you, but totally understand that life sucks and self care is needed. Wishing you all the best🫂✨
you are by far my favorite booktuber to watch. Please don't apologize for taking time you needed to take care of yourself. We will be here when you post. Can't wait to see what comes next!
i feel you on the beach, its beautiful and i love the idea of spending all day there but heat for me is miserable, only more miserable with the added sensory experience of sweat, sunscreen, and sand. however, i will devour a beach read happily from indoors at the airbnb while everyone else enjoys beaching!
So excited for all that is to come on your moving journey! Speaking as someone who made it through their post college early 20's disaster make sure to go easy on yourself(easier said than done I know). I know I speak for many when I say no matter how often you post I am just so overjoyed when you do. Make sure you're taking care of yourself and taking the time you need and we will be here cheering you on!!💚
I'm so happy you're back! I found your channel within the last couple months and have been obsessively watching all of your videos. You're so unique in the way you describe plots and characters and I feel like your specific humor is exactly the same as mine and I'm just really glad that I found your channel 💕
As a little treat YA thriller for you I highly recommend Sadie by Courtney Summers. It's about a teenage girl whose little sister was murdered but the investigation into it didn't find anything conclusive, so Sadie decides to track down the murderer and goes missing in the process. It is dual POV with Sadie in the past and her journey into the investigation and the other POV is actually a podcast from a radio personality who heard about Sadie's story and becomes determined to follow her trail and try and find her. Based on how much you love YA thrillers and murder investigations I think it would be perfect for you. Super emotional at the end too- it made me cry and I couldn't stop thinking about it for weeks.
I was about to go to bed thinking I had a bad day, but that changed when I got the vibrant and pristine concoction of neurotransmitters your videos provide. Bless you.
as someone who has a lot of the same struggles as you re: brain and body not functioning or letting me do things at any given time, i appreciate your channel so much, both because you are so comforting and funny to watch and also because it makes me feel so much less alone. it really helps to see a booktube girly whose life is not entirely put together and actually looks a lot more like my own. it makes me feel like i can actually get things accomplished and maybe do things one day, and that i won't be stuck in this place forever. so from the bottom of my heart, thank you thank you thank you
thank you again, both for the videos, the kind words, and also in advance for the thirteen books i just ordered off my tbr which is almost entirely compiled of books you've mentioned in videos
One Dark Window was so good. Was it a masterpiece? No. Was it one of the best books I've read in a long time that made me cry? Absolutely. It gives you just enough to want more.
Lexi, I say this with the utmost care and honesty. It doesn't matter to me how often you post, I just feel lucky to get a peek into the books you're excited about. I read at a similar pace to you with similar ebs and waves of productivity, so your videos are a helpful check in and reminder that I do in fact still love books, even when I haven't read what I hoped to. Thank you for your time!
Your personality and your videos are so refreshing! I look forward to your new videos every time! I love your personality. I love your taste in books. I love how straightforward and open you are and how you don’t hold anything back. That being said, I hope you are taking time for yourself and anything you may be going through because that by far is more important than anything else ❤️ much love & I’m glad to see your smiling face again!
Lexi, you are one of my favourite book tubers, and the only one who could make me look at a 2 h+ video on a book I wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole - and it was HILARIOUS!! You are very appreciated!
One Dark Window was the most recent book I just read! It was really good, the vibes were peak rainy day staying in bed reading. Also Nightmare slays and is my favorite character.
Your comments about how difficult it can be to get into classics is so relatable. I also struggle with the same thing, and that's why I haven't really dabbled with classics. I read Dracula and it was literally painful to read which is a bummer. And that made me feel like I can't enjoy classics but I know there are many out there that are more approachable!
I enjoyed the naturals sm more than the inheritance games tbh and i think it’s because it gives me the same dopamine hit as reading a book at lunch time during high school like idk ??
@@Watertreestone right?? I think it’s because maybe the author had like less stress abt it since inheritance games felt more like a money grab whereas the naturals felt more like her passion project iykwim
@chacharealsmoove I got this impression after I read the naturals, too. I like the inheritance games, but the characters and plot development are more thought out in the naturals. It's kind of funny how the characters in the naturals are meant to be special compared to the inheritance games characters, but the characters in the naturals felt like more like they where human beings with flaws compared to the inheritance games. Like the characters in the inheritance games feel more like tropes tbh
9:17 I 1000% agree with this recap of Scythe… I was so absorbed in the world and their mentors I could forget how boring the main characters were. I will say though (no spoilers here) towards the end of book one when they’re in the middle of their competition and when we’re supposed to be invested in the emotional hardship of their test… it just didn’t sell for me, because girl what emotions… like they hardly had any the first 85% of the book
Love love love Scythe! The Toll is one of my all-time favorites, it truly hits the spot between "deeply thoughtful" and "deeply bonkers". I think Neal Schusterman may have actually managed to write the world's most unethical love triangle, and i think we should talk about that more often
I picked up The Spirit Bares its Teeth based on this video and devoured it within two days. I loved the concept, and it overall felt open to expansion without feeling unfinished. Absolutely would not be mad if it got turned into a series. I want moreeeee
Currently reading BYW and the only thing that could have improved the reading experience is seeing your excitement for it (and seeing you back, period). We missed you, I’m sorry life has been a dark hallway for the last few months, and I hope it’s gentler for you soon.
Whenever you take a break and come back, it feels like no time has passed at all. Your videos are such a comfort to so many! I’m glad that we also provide comfort to you by engaging with your content 😁 thank you for adding to my TBR. I cannot wait to read A Love Song for Ricki Wilde!
Re: the classics discussion--I do think Tolstoy or other translated works are a great place to start! Even though the books are older, some of the translations were done as recently as the 1960s. That really helped make them far more readable to me than other English/American classics from a similar time period.
Finally got a chance to watch this and added some books to my Summer TBR for sure! We love your content and rest assured, the wait is always worth it, take care of you first and we’ll be here 🫶🏼
This is the first year I'm back to the book-devouring person I formed much of my personality around as a kid, and in that angry little girl's honor I'm also reading a bunch of young adult and middle grade books over the summer 'break'
I have been hyperfixated on this channel. It’s the only place I’ve found that has great book reccs, is super cozy, and doesn’t make me feel bad for not reading an unrealistic amount. Great to put on while I’m working :-) thank you for all of the effort you put into your videos, we all greatly appreciate it ❤
Thank you for still posting. I find it so hard to stay productive and focused when life is super busy and not easy sometimes so I admire you so much for that! This video came at a perfect time , just got covid in my final week of my degree meaning I’m missing out on all the goodbyes and parties etc so now I atleast have a lexi video!
congratulations on finishing :) even if you cant go to the parties/goodbyes, you should feel so so proud of yourself!! it isn't easy - get lots of rest & drink lots of water ~
i love your videos so much and they're helping me slowly get back into books and get excited about reading again :) thank you for all you do and hope the books you read over the summer are good!
No longer having summer break is definitely one of those weird adult things to get used to. Similarly, as an adult in uni, going to school during the summer break was an equally weird adult experience for me.
I usually don't really leave comments anywhere but I want to make an exception to tell you you're my absolute fave UA-cam channel for book recommendations and opinions, the way you talk about all these books is just really engaging and I enjoy your vids a lot so thank you for making them
crying at the description “fake dating out of what I can only assume is malice”

Every time Lexi posts it feels like a breath of fresh air for like 20 to 50 minutes
Ngl I look forward to Lexi's videos so much! Just feels like I'm talking to a friend just as deranged as me about books.

Lexi you’re my favorite book person and so glad you’re here when you can be 🩵
glad you're back!
so happy to see you :) I'm sorry things have been rough lately, I do hope things are starting to look up
Finally got a chance to watch this and added some books to my Summer TBR for sure! We love your content and rest assured, the wait is always worth it, take care of you first and we’ll be here 🫶🏼
Fellow beach hater and I have to say Our Wives Under the Sea is an excellent book! Wonderful mixture of spooky and emotional 🌊
I've been PRAYING to see one of your videos on my homepage again 🙌
No longer having summer break is definitely one of those weird adult things to get used to. Similarly, as an adult in uni, going to school during the summer break was an equally weird adult experience for me.
"my tastes tend to be the most similar to people who dislike the same books as me" SAME, and you are one of the few 🫶
I usually don't really leave comments anywhere but I want to make an exception to tell you you're my absolute fave UA-cam channel for book recommendations and opinions, the way you talk about all these books is just really engaging and I enjoy your vids a lot so thank you for making them
