How is the film brave at all
This would’ve been “brave” 60 years ago. Today it’s literally everywhere and is as mainstream as it gets. Actually these days it’s brave to even slightly criticize any of this because the outrage mob comes after you immediately and does their best to destroy your life. So in reality the roles of bigots and bullies shifted. Basic morality and societal values are being torn down in favor of identity politics and intersectionality.
When I saw the guy shaving I thought the horror starts : he will peel his face.

i think its death? at the end of the day she committed multiple murders, including people in the congregation that were pretty brainwashed
Lily Raimey possibly the devil. While the people deserve justice, her murder is a worse sin than their bullying because they didn’t kill her lover. So I think it represents that while the lesser evil was slain (the churchgoers) a greater evil remains.
I think it's the lady dark conscience to kill them all. To become the bad to kill the bad things happening. She killed them all by mixing something in that wine

I think the black figure represents decisions we make that we can’t take back; decisions that change who we are.
ALTER is the masters at short horror films , they have the capability to make a full length film that's awesome if they wanted to !
These are my favorites, the ones where everyone is the bad guy. It’s so much more realistic.
I love the very slight worn and grainy look of this, usually when this is attempted it's overdone but this is absolutely gorgeous. I loved this.

I don't care what your belief is, homophobia is not justification for mass murder in retaliation. Especially against ones that are explicitly non-murderous, as this community was shown to be. And people see this mass murder and rejoice, because they would rather see an entire town dead than their lifestyle criticized.

Rare for a film to be _this_ horrifying and still hand out heart-lifting ending. All by myself and I still applauded.
She poised her family including her own father, brother and even her towns folk just because of her lover. I love my family I don't think anyone can just murder their own father and be happy this is a horrific and a bit extreme ending to say the least.

Yes, it can be a real problem. I threw up in a dark cinema full of people during the showing of Stand By Me in the 1980's with my date sitting next to me. I'm much more past it now, but certain sights, sounds, and odors will activate it without warning. Greatest fear was during elementary school years. God awful memories and nightmares.
This vintage style is so satisfying and convincing.

The ending of the video had me grinning from ear to ear though, they got what they deserved, and the girls can be happy and be themselves.

Agreed! I loved the ending, and they did all get what they deserved! I was so angry when I was watching all the pain they were inflicting upon this poor woman, and then they thought they could just brainwash the pastor's daughter, WRONG! I am bisexual as well and I shed a tear of happiness at the end when they ran away together through the field free and happy instead of in a controlled and effed up environment.

It is not the matter of Christianity only. The movie's point is that every religion becomes evil once you dig deeper. Be a human. That's all we need not religions that teach. Faith is not something to be taught.
But they stated they where Christian's, they read from the Bible, so yes it is directed at Christianity.
All I can say is that I've never been harassed, threatened, attacked, nor discriminated against by atheists, Buddhists, Muslims, Jews, Pagans, Heathens that I have known. But Christians cannot seem to leave me alone over their perceptions of who I may or not be having sex with, and how that sex may or may not be taking place. I know people from all of the above mentioned groups. Only the Christians want to make decisions about other people's sexuality, family planning and reproductive health, and even how we are taxed and who is of the appropriate race and social standing to benefit from those taxes. It's not about religion, it's about control. Which, coincidentally, this short illustrates beautifully

Thank you for making this. This is an incredible movie. I was left speechless after this. I am homosexual myself, and I hate that people think they are doing good by harming others that have “sinned.” It’s extremely hypocritical when people do this.

This short does a fantastic job of showcasing the Heaviness of Religion: The Judgement. The Guilt. The Fear. The Hypocrisy. The Damnation. Always scared of displeasing The Church. Yet those standing upon the pulpit PREACHING & PROSELYTIZING seem to lose sight of the fact that they are flesh & blood too just like their Congregation and as such aren't Perfect human beings either. Religion, in the past, has always made me feel as though I could never really Live, but had to instead walk this tightrope of Perfection when I am only human and NOT ONE OF US IS PERFECT: WE ARE *ALL* SINNERS. WHO CAN JUDGE? US HUMANS??? WHEN SO MANY OF THOSE WHO CLAIM TO BE ANNOINTED PERSONALLY BY GOD AND RECEIVED HIS CALLING ARE DOING THE EXACT SAME THINGS (AND WORSE) THAT THEY TELL US WE WILL GO TO HELL FOR INCLUDING BEING GAY & BI?! IF the character is an underage daughter and she had been preyed upon by an older woman it’s just as reprehensible/illegal and wrong as if it had been an older man, there is no double standard. Teachers, priests etc. are rightfully charged and imprisoned for such behavior.
.... to think this group of people represents real Christians is absurd. Thinking the lifestyle and act is wrong or just being uncomfortable with it is a FAR cry from kidnapping and torturing them and planning to murder them.
To misuse partial Scripture or secular politics to manipulate people into acts of hate is wrong. It’s about power and control and has been used by people for thousands of years religious and secular.
They were quoting Old Testament teachings, like stoning a woman caught in adultery. We know that Jesus saved a woman from being stoned and turned the question on hypocrites, those wanting to kill her. When they left he did not condemn her either but said she should turn from her bad choices so that worse didn’t happen to her.
There are issues to take Christianity to task for but for the comments here trying to solidify hatred at Christians because of what these fictional nuts did is ridiculous. These people were over the top crazy zealots like children of the Corn, Damien and any number of whacked out movie cult bad guys, not a reflection of run of the mill regular people living their faith.
The bible only says a man shall lay with no man. I didnt hear woman or lesbian so. And its just a film. People are killed to this day for being a different religion, race, sexual preferences, or even genders. Im not saying that this film is true but its just a film dont for art in horror.
This film isn't directing hate toward the Christian religion. The group in the movie is not supposed to represent the real religion. The group represent religious people in general, falling too deep into religion, putting their faith higher than their humanity. That is their true sin.

I’m Catholic but people who cherry-pick scripture to justify clearly immoral acts or just down-right things that are wrong, then we’re usually advised to stay away from them. What many people don’t realize is that The Bible was written a very long time ago, during a time that was hardly as progressive as we are today, and so many people tend to take scripture as literal as possible. There have been incidents where the Church has decided to flip some agendas because scripture was either misinterpreted by the public or has caused too many problems. I strongly believe that the Church will eventually reach a point where we can be more progressive and realize that the world is indeed changing and rather than dismiss the changing world around us, adapt to it and positively use scripture to show us what we should do as individuals to better ourselves instead of hurting others.
Actually, St. Paul mentions homosexuality as a sin in several of his epistles in the New Testament.
The passage in Leviticus when properly translated is “Man shall not lie with boy.” It’s against pedophilia.
