Wow. Awesome clip. I was in an aikido class, and the sensei told us he was bad at some things and good at others. None of us could roll. Nobody ever talked about it either. So. I had my first 'insight' into rolling, playing a souls game on my PC. I sit in half lotus for 6+ hours a day. Rolling is not 'seiza.' It's more half lotus, crosslegged sitting on floor. Wish I coulda said that I learned this from aikido. Really cool class, in this clip.

So using my back or shoulders as the breaker of a fall??

@Limau Purut thank you and do we also need an adequate amount of muscle or fat for a greater effect??

@@morijin4254 the roll keeps momentum going in a different direction other then the ground. I don’t think it matters if you have fat or muscle.

Without a shadow of a doubt Aikido has the best Ukemi even better than Judo. Aikido cover it all.

Imagine doing this on stone floor, only the latter half of the moves works there

No, I ve done that, but it hurts when you fall to the sharp stone

It absolutely works on a stone floor! That’s the purpose of training to fall, so if you get thrown on a hard surface, you won’t break anything! It hurts no question, but the pain will subside!
