And remember, there is no auto tune, (wasn't even invented yet) just raw talent! While we all love them live, the studio version has AMAZING harmonies and gives you a look at them in the studio. Since you mentioned crowd control, check out Queen at Live Aid... it is considered the best live concert EVER.
@@LindaChambers-gy2zl have you heard of marc martel, he sang in place of rami malek in bohemian rhapsody, and he sounded almost exactly like freddie (RIP freddie)
Live. No auto tune ,,Pure Talent. Queen is the best band of all time. One of the best duo of Freddie and Roger. Kindly do reaction of Live Aid and Under Pressure. Please do more Queen song. Thank you for your great reaction.
This is one of the greatest live performances ever. You have to know, that Freddie was an untrained singer, he never took singing lessons, but was a born talent, a self made man. He loved Aretha Franklin's early gospel style singing and taught himself the phrasing by listening to her records. This song was written as a tribute to Aretha.
Each member of yhe group are university graduates plus each of them wrote a number one song. Sadly we list freddie to aids in 91 but although he couldnt tour after 86 he made music until a few months before his death brave man xx
Keep going down the queen rabbit hole. There catalog is huge. They were an amazing band there will never be another queen. Freddie is from another planet. He was unbelievable. Freddie was a mad genius. R.I.P FREDDIE WE MISS YOU. WE HERE YOU SINGING FROM HEAVEN
Damn hard to write on some formats. I'm sure he means, Live at the Rainbow. A London venue that was a waystation for Queen on their way up. When they began to pop, they went back as an homage in a sense.
All this is live AND they manage to drag those cords on the mic stand and guitar wherever AT THE SAME TIME. I saw this concert (QUEEN ROCK MONTREAL 1981) in late January, remastered digitally for IMAX. Seeing the songs in order, back to back -- the energy sustained throughout, WILD. Today people want/expect more of a production with moving stages and gizmos, crowds, dancers and choirs + the machinery working overtime on voice auto tune, pitch correction --and what you said on backing tracks. Real talent floats to the top, can't miss it when you see it. Agree - LIVE AID 1985 is part of rock history. WATCH the one with the "two police" in the opening to avoid the one that cuts off the last song.
I saw the IMAX of this concert too, it was so good that I went back and saw it again. What I really loved about that movie was that you could see the whole stage a lot of the time so all band members were in view. Also, the film was so crystal clear that I could see the beads of sweat on Freddie's face as they were just forming and any tiny blemish he had. It was so wonderful. It was like being at a live show except this time I was sitting down.
The entire Montreal concert is a must watch.. Check out Stone Cold Crazy live , generally regarded as the birth song of speed/thrash metal and Freddie spitting bars at 100MPH
Thanks, Justice -- yep - they took us to church on this one... Freddie said he was inspired by Aretha Franklin when he wrote it... every member of this band was incredible and on fire in this entire concert... no backing music or "autotune" - just pure live talent... appreciate your reaction!...
The drummer Roger Taylor sang on this song supporting the high register. Not only his hands in motion, but his feet. He was hard on his equipment it had to be replaced every three months!
All 4 bands members wrote songs. All 4 have college / university degrees. Freddie - BA in Graphic Art and Design (he designed the bands logo) Roger - BA in Biology John BA in Electronics (with first class honors) Brian - PhD is Astrophysics (he's worked with NASA)
You haven't begun to scratch the surface of what QUEEN can do, and Freddie Mercury's unbelievable, extremely talented presence and vocals he has. We lost him way too soon at age 45. RIP FREDDIE 11/24/1991 🎤🎸🙏🪦😌 1946-1991 ❤
Queen is one of my favorite groups. So many different types of music. There are SO many live performances from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s of so many great talented performers. Like others have commented, no auto tune, just a group of talented folks enjoying sharing their love of music. Some other performances to check out is Chicago 25 or 6 to 4 Tanglewood 1971 live and Soul Sacrifice Santana 1969 Woodstock. And, yes, do not pause during any of the guitar solos or drum solos.
this entire concert was recently ( couple weeks ago) released into theaters on the IMAX screens, it was supposed to be only one weekend but they extended the run for a week, it was fabulous!
Piano and lead vocals is Freddie Mercury the drums and vocals is Sir Roger Taylor, bass guitar and vocals is John Deacon and Lead guitar and vocals is Sir Dr. Brian May, Phd in astrophysics. Yes Freddie wrote this one as a tribute to Aretha Franklin
If you want to hear Roger sing, I suggest this same concert....Montreal 81, Roger sings I'm in Love with my Car...it follows a shortened version of Killer Queen. You will NOT be disappointed. This whole concert is fire.
I was hoping you'd do this one! Welcome to the world of Queen! The amazing thing about Queen was that, although the studio versions of songs like 'Somebody to Love' were so complex in their arrangements and harmonies, they were also able to recreate so many of them live, with the exact same quality of sound and impact. Many consider this version better than the studio version!
Mercury had cups of water, beer, and vodka to soothe his throat, for obvious reasons. There's so many so he can grab one from wherever he was standing. One of his favorite singers was Aretha Franklin, and this song was inspired by her.
Same concert “Killer Queen/I’m in Love with My Car”. And their early stuff from debut album (1973), Queen ll (1974), Sheer Heart Attack ((1974). Unbelievable sounds.
The band felt that their fans could listen to the studio version anytime they wanted with the album and didn’t think it was right for them to pay money to see their concert and sound just like the studio version. That is why Queen fans love their live performances. Freddie wanted it to be an experience for the crowd, which is why they did a lot of audience participation and why each show is different. Freddie made a point to make sure the songs were not the same as the studio version and would always do something different with the performance. You could listen to this song at another concert and it would sound different. We never knew how Freddie would perform each song. If you react to the song Love of My Life at Wembley Stadium and then at their Montreal concert it’s different. Then they sing Love of My Life in Brazil at a concert called Rock in Rio and the 250,000 crowd is singing the majority of the song back to Freddie and what’s amazing is that English is not their first language. They speak Portuguese in Brazil, but they know all the words to Queen songs. They were the first band to do a concert in South America.
I love when young people first discover Queen so I will subscribe. If you want to see some real crowd control, watch their live performance of Under Pressure at Wembley Stadium.
Fun reaction. ❤ You should react to Liar - Rainbow '74, it's a wonderful example of all their individual musical talents. Also White Queen - Hammersmith Odeon '75 has an amazing piano/guitar duet in the middle. Brian & Freddie had such an ability to feed off each other musically.
I had this concert on VHS when I was a young child in the 80's. Brian May made that guitar out of a Fireplace with his father. Roger is great, check out Levon Helm from The Band playing drums and singing live, will blow you away.
Freddy from Zansibar grew up there, later parents moved to London. Family was very spiritual his family religion, Zoroastiam. His parents were from india further back Iraq. Hence the tryquility soul in his music
Go back someday soon & review this video. Listen for the harmony so tight a record producer didn’t believe they didn’t use a back track until he went to a live performance. You’ll also see, if you watch for it, THEY ALL SING!!!
Studio versions are just as good to listen to, they allow us to appreciate the how much hard work they put into their art when it comes producing to their music, and there was no auto tune back then either, however, when watching the live version of the songs it is a bonus, you get to see how talented they really are on stage, their stage presence is something else, you just can't take your eyes off of them along with commanding the attention of their audience, I would not be surprised how much they inspire those who aspire to be like them one day or want hear mor music from the band. I still love Queen, I'm glad to have had the opportunity to watch them last year in concert, minus Freddie but, it was all worth it nonetheless, we got to see Brian May and Roger Taylor do what they do best! I enjoyed your reaction! Peace. ☮
Great reaction, new subscriber. You mentioned being curious about the studio version of this song. I think you should listen to that as well. The red guitar Brian May plays is kinda special. Dr. May who with the help of his astrophysics degree helps NASA when not touring. Was poor as a child, so poor he & his father built a guitar. His friend John Deacon liked to play with electronics wired it for him. His friend went on to earn a degree in electrical engineering but most of the time he's on stage with May & he's playing the bass guitar.
