This was super-helpful. I was ready to take mine back to Lowe's after attempting to pair about 10 times following exact instructions. Very frustrating. Here is some additional info that may also be helpful to some: When I logged into my router to verify the network name, and the auto-connect setting, I found (on my new Dual-Band router) that each of the two frequency's networks had the ability to independently disable 802.11/Wifi 6 (will try to attache an image to this if allowed). So, I disabled it for the 2.4 GHz network only, and was able to pair and connect immediately. Immediately! Thanks for the post. I love youtube for stuff like this.

Turning off Wifi 6 on the 2.4g did the trick for me. Thank you!!!

Thank you! I was ripping my hair out trying to figure out why mine were giving me a hard time. Had them for years and knew all the tricks except this one.
It took me four days and over 100 try’s to get just four to connect.
After reading your direction I was able to add the remaining 6 plugs, first try.
What’s a bummer is that I called enbrighten and asked if there was a “setting” on newer routers that could interfere and they said no. 🫤
      Thanks again.

This is fantastic information man. I've had the timer for some time, and it's been working fine. Suddenly it stopped turning my lights on and off when I set it to. Looks like the Bluetooth connection just got knocked offline. Thanks!

Mine is on a schedule but is turning on early, any ideas on what to do?

I really like these plugs I have 10 in use and they were all running flawlessly for over six months. I’ve recently had two issues though. This I believe is in relation to a recent update of the app a month ago.
1: Some devices will randomly say “offline.” They come back online by themselves but I can’t control them until they do.
2: All the plugs that have schedules don’t show the programmed schedule in the schedule tab. The weird thing is that I confirmed the schedules are all still running but I can’t see or modify them.

I've had the same experience but only with the plugs that are on a schedule. They continue to work as scheduled but they say "offline" in the app. At some point, they come back online in the app. I don't know why.

Have an ASUS AX-58U and none of my plugs could be discovered till I changed a default Setting under WIFI. Had to disable 802.11ax / WiFi 6 mode. All fixed now. Thanks for the tip that it could be my router.

Not sure if it was turning off the 802.11ax, renaming the router to include '-2.4G' or the combination of the both, but MAN am i glad this finally did the trick! Thank you!

Mine was definitely the Wifi 6 setting. I turned it off on the 2.4g and it finally connected!! Thank you for this comment, it is much appreciated!

I noticed in the store they have one with double switches. Can you program each switch separately or do they have to be programmed the same?

Good info. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. Mine worked fine until I switched to a new router (2.4). Now I can't them to connect. I've tried every method, Bluetooth, pairing mode... When trying manual it says connect to Enbrighten Wi-Fi then says it's not available. This was fairly simple when I set up the first time but appearantly I've become quite dense since.

Not you, these are cheap Chinese devices that depend on an unreliable Chinese cloud service to work.

Thanks for the review. I fell less daunted now to buy them.
Also, naming the wifi networks 2.4 and 5 isn’t a mandate after all is it? Bc I would think being able to distinguish the 2 networks from each other, regardless of the name, is the mandate. E.g. I name my 2.4 network “Cookie” and then I know any device that connects to “Cookie” is using the 2.4 network.

Anything to differentiate between the two will do.

Nice presentation about initial setup but it didn't solve my problem. The only thing I can't get to work correctly is using the Dusk to Dawn setting in the schedule setup screen. The plug works with Evening hours set or Morning hours set but NOT using the Dusk to Dawn setting.

I have the same issue with dusk/dawn setting not working. I just changed to the evening setting and selected on 7PM and off 7AM. I will see if it works over night. . J Bennett RVA

I set my plug up successfully, plugged in my lights & they came on. I set them from dawn to dusk. Its 11 am. Will the program start at dusk?

I tried everything and could not get the plugs to pair... FIX: I had to go in to my modem settings and set my wifi channel to same as the smart plug (ch6) and it paired right up.

Anyone currently looking at this I’ll tell you that it seems 1 out of every 5 or so of the mini-plugs seem to be a dud. They stop working and the reset button won’t work. You can tap the reset button or hold it down as long as you want and it won’t go into pairing mode.

I have the exact same issue. 1 of the 4 is a dud. worked good for a couple of days and now it wont go in to pairing mode.

Set up isn't an issue. Resetting the darn thing is the issue when it hasn't been used for quite some time yet no one can help resolve this issue.

I was hoping this would solve my problem. I download the app and I got stuck on the Wi-Fi network. It won’t even find the plug even with Bluetooth on. I cannot figure out what in the world I am doing wrong! I have a love/hate relationship with technology.

These are made by a Chinese company named Tuya. You (and I) simply played the Chinese lottery and lost. Mine lasted about a week, and I'll be quite happy when they're off to the landfill where they belong. An inexpensive lesson learned in my opinion.

So you can never use your phone on the 5Ghz network so long as you have these plugs?🤔

  • @fixitman2174
    @fixitman2174 2 роки тому

This didn't help with my Home Assistant setup. All steps were already done, and I even blocked the plugs from the 5 GHz with MAC filtering. One plug is 3 feet from the router, but both started randomly dropping after about a week. You get what you pay for with these, and they were extremely cheap. These are going in the trash as soon as my Z-Wave replacements arrive. No Bluetooth, WiFi, or unreliable Chinese Cloud service needed for Z-Wave. Enbrighten plugs require all 3.

How do we connect it to an alexa

    • @tailgatetalk
      @tailgatetalk  3 роки тому

Select "support" in the Enbrighten app.
Select “Connect to Amazon Alexa” or “Connect to Google Home.”
      Follow the in-app instructions.
