This morning I was interested in getting a still, an hour of you told me which to get; what to brew for it and how to run it, I buy a still and here you are with a video on exactly what I was thinking wasn’t too great about the EXACT still I’ve bought. You sir are a saviour to the beginner and a champion

Cool. For anyone that needs a solution prior to this, you can freeze a few liter bottles of water, and save several runs of ice from your ice maker and add the bottle to your supply/pump water container, and add ice to the condenser pot as necessary. Labor intensive, but it works ok. EDIT: I’ve since done this mod and it is so much better. Right now I still use 2 L bottles frozen… One for the coil bucket and the other for a water supply bucket so it gets cooling in both places and I still add ice to the coil bucket just to keep things nice and cold. Also if you don’t want to Undo the copper fittings in the original condenser, my kit came with a small piece of vinyl tubing that could be added to the output of the original condenser and there’s an extra small piece of copper there I suppose to angle down the final output, and I just connected my new section of coil to that little piece of vinyl tubing. Thus no flare tools needed… Lots of ways to get er done. 😅

I have a cooler that I use for the condenser water, and simply refill it with ice as needed. I believe I may have gotten a different still, mine came with a pump and tubing to use an external tank for the condenser pot's water.

Great video brother I built my the same way about 10 years ago still got it today one thang that might help a lil don’t know how much it matters but run your water inlet at the bottom of the buck and the water outlet out the top heat rises take the hot or warm water off the top instead of pushing it though the hole bucket either way it will definitely work good keep on distilling brother

Fill the condencer bucket full of water and put it into the freezer to freeze it up? enough cold for a long run? add some water? on top of ice to flow down the outside of the pipe to maintain water contact with the pipe as the ice melts size frozen bucket condencer to batch size taking into account standard copper tube length and diameter and bucket size to come up with the smallest practical size to fit in freezer??? never having distiled and not knowing how much ice is needed

You can use a parrot with your still. You will just have to arrange how you set up your still so that the exit tube drips into the parrot.

shotgun condenser is easier to make , smaller and better looking. Those coils will tarnish up and be hard to clean. I built one of those in the 80s and had blue stuff after the 3rd run. Cheap chinese stills a bad buy.
