    Cyd In USA. Dare I say, how refreshing...to see chateau owners show the guts of what is going on. Too often the channels are all too perfect with shopping, decorating and socializing. Your team is so transparent and it makes watching all that much better.

    I have just recently discovered your channel. I just watched update two on Mark. I totally understand the aftermath of having intimate care being taken care of from random strangers. I have arthritis in my spine, shoulders and no cartilage anywhere in both knees (big surgery on both at the same time coming soon). I have to do my own physical therapy to get my knees to straighten and bend all the way. As well as strengthening my core. I've had to lose 200 pounds and have another 20+ to go. The less weight the better. My husband divorced me for being disabled and left me to raise my two youngest the rest of the way. I finally found a caregiver who I have had for eight years now. She is the reason I have achieved all that I have. I love seeing Judy! She is precious. And the interview with Mark today was great. Philip is learning to look at the camera more as the videos progress. What a time we have all been through these last few years. I am cheering you all on and will be your most faithful viewer from here on. Someday, I hope that Mark and I can go for a long walk around your chateaux and just marvel in the ability to stop and smell the flowers (or the poo pipes).

    • @atthechateau
      @atthechateau  Рік тому

      Gerri, My heart goes out to you and please stay strong! I know what you mean about caregivers being the most important rock you can have. One person that becomes an extension of yourself for however long it takes is so important. Not a circus of people rotating in and out, it is too much, and more than a mind can bear.
      I am glad you noticed Phillip getting better at looking at the camera, he has been working on it!
      Keep cheering, Judy sends her ❤️, and we will take that walk someday very soon.

    The 'corridor' of rooms that are linked to a main hallway system is called an "enfilade" - phonetically in English: "han-fee-lah-dd". Very old and wonderful except when you have bedrooms in the middle...kind of cuts each end off of each other. Nice to see you're putting the bedrooms at each end instead. Good job!

      Lora, Poop peeps are weirdly fascinating! Even more here as there are no records of where they are, what they did, and where they go... so a shovel is your only friend. 😂 And yes, we are so lucky to be on a city system, and it is surprising that a village as tiny as this one has a city system! It was a big selling point.

    The floor is looking beautiful, when sanded it will be perfect!!!
    Yay, Judy! Delightful as always 💗 How are you? Looks like you haven’t taken to strong drink yet and staying on the wine. Seeing progress at your beautiful chateau has to lift a girl’s spirits! The Grand Adventure is so lovely to share with with you! You just have the nicest people helping you!! ❤
    How good to see Mark! He is so talented. What did he do in the US for his career. He seems to have such experience in all these matters. I so admire that. My husband before his early death was a simply brilliant engineer who worked all over the world. Mark reminds me of him. Oh Mark, we must deal with “poop” wherever we live, I also deal with cat and dog poop.

    As always, you both brought smiles and giggles to the fore! The history of the poop chutes was interesting, not the type of history one generally thinks about but is actually fascinating! Things are coming along, and 4 kitchens?! 😳 Wow! It is great to see what all you have going on and things getting done. I am sure you both want it to be done but when you reach that finish line, it will be that more rewarding! You both are also doing a great job balancing new and old still! I think previous occupants would approve.
    Speaking of which, because you are renovating; any odd or spooky happenings around the Château?

      Helen, welcome to our crazy family! Yes, the village was created after the former chateau was built in the 14th century. It was built up around the outside of the walls. The current chateau incorporated the village as one of its sides. But it is never a nuisance, with only 48 of us living here you always can find who is doing what and when, 😂😂 and the Chateau dwarfs the village when you see it in person.

    Chateau poop 😁
    People new to Chateau ownership don't realize that virtually all Chateau's were built before indoor plumbing was invented. Electricity was still 209 years into the future as well. All modern luxuries were an afterthought, so many Chateau's require almost a complete redesign from the ground up. It's a big expense on top of any redesign and repairs. Don't be too hard on Mark Aunt Judy 😉 he's doing the right thing ✅

It is the first thing we do so that as time goes along we do not have to worry about it, or have future problems. It is sooooooo expensive, much more in France thank we ever thought possible, and it takes soooooo long.
