Charles, likeliness says you’ll never actually get to see this comment personally. But I’m a bassist for the last 27 years. I started at 13 and am now 40. And if I was asked today what bass I wanted, it would be yours. What an incredible instrument and personal achievement. As a random bystander, first finding you through your davie504 challenge video, then watching your channel grow to such depth(I was late, btw), incredible content creation, and inspiration has been an experience of nothing but joy. I mean that. We’re all proud of you. You deserve it. And if I had the money to spare, I’d be ordering your model from Schecter, directly after posting this. It’s the one and only current new model I envy. Great job. Your hard work shows through. And as a 27 year bassist, you still make me both want to pick my bass up immediately and do what I know how to do, while also feeling like I should just put the damn thing down. The best of both worlds, inspiration as well as incitation. You’re the man, homie. The next lighthouse shining after Ryan martinie, claypool, and back before them. Play some more songs in the variations you showed at the end. Timing and speed changes everything. Hearing you display different styles at the end to show off the bass only made me want to hear more of what you’ve got in some different styles. Chops always translate, and yours are fluent.
How many bassists don't dream of having their own signature axe totally made to their own specifications? And THAT one is a total jem! It truly wouldn't look out of place in either a metal show or a church service. Congrats and mucho props, man. 👍
You earned this! I remember seeing you on Davie 504 and now you have burned your own path and it has been enjoyable watching you over the years! So again, be proud! Hard work deserves to be recognized! You are the best Charles!
Beautiful bass sir and well deserved, if anybody deserves a signature instrument, it's you. I love the timber combinations and aesthetics of it, makes it look very smart, and playable.
If I'd have known you were including a lefty version of this, I would have gotten one over the build i just started. People never offer lefty versions of signature models so I just want to say thank you for including us in your signature bass!
Great TONE , as always . Looks like the truss rod adjusts just past the 24th fret . One small thing I see on many basses is that the neck past the 24th fret may be squared off . Sometimes those edges are sharp and you can catch your hand on the edge when doing a palm slide , a la Victor Wooten , etc. . I had mine rounded off . Otherwise sounds great !
Oh, a new charles berthoud channel? I just ordered a Fender player jazz bass fretless. After trying a Squire 60 vintage fretless i fell in love with fretless, and ordered a Fender. I've seen reviews on the Fender player jazz bass fretless and seen that most people coats their necks and slips on tapewound, so that's what im doing when i get it in the mail, gonna give the neck a polished finnish to a guitar maker and put a set of tapewound on. 20mm on the nuts that bass you got there? Seriously that sounds perfect for some reason, like an Ibanez guitar neck. Fender Jazz basses are 38mm on the nuts, you 18mm thinner, i can imagine that helps alot if you wanna play smoothly and quickly on the F and F flat, G on the E string and B, C, Cflat on the a string and so on down to the A string you know, close to the nuts :) That bass looks great, with double humbuckers right? What Wah-Wah pedal do you recommend?
That's a gorgeous piece of hardware, Charles 🥰 Love all the thought put into the design, both mechanical and aesthetic. Wishlisting this for the distant future when I have free time to learn and money to burn ⚰️
I played the 4 string at Guitar Center last night for an hour. I was immediately impressed with the sound and ergonomics. I would purchase a 5 string on the spot if there was one available. Haven’t played 4 string since 1996, but this instrument has arrested my attention and I’m heading back to GC to play it some more 👍🎸
Always have had huge respect for Schecter basses, especially for how high above their pricepoint they always hit. I've never played one that doesn't feel high quality. Even though many with the more metal look don't match my preferred style, lots of models like this one are beautiful basses. Very good company to get a signature model from
That thing is such a beauty, and your design choices work great for me. I was laid off months ago and have had a hard time getting a new gig, but when my cash flow becomes positive again, I'd love to get that bass!
@@BassByTheBay Is the top comment still "BassCamp is right on point with this review, great stuff as always!", posted by his other channel? If so, click on the "replies" and you'll find that he says "It's currently being developed!" Cheers!
I played one today at music pantry in Richmond indiana...George is a shecter dealer...I'm a warwick player myself but I must say this bass @ the price point is a steal...love the emg's even tho I play bartoloni's on my nt5 thumb the emg's are very crisp especially running the bridge pickup....with a Lil delay and overdrive with the gain at mid the bass on the bridge pickup kinda reminds me of the tone I get from my warwick...bass is quality built and u are forever remembered now sir....congrats and I'm sure there will be another sig bass from you down the road
Congrats Charles! I been playing bass for over 50 years, and I think you are the best that ever lived!! That bass is nice too! I have never seen you play a Multi-scale bass. I purchased one last year, and it’s true about the lower notes sounding better, fuller, rounder! I love it.
Congratulations!! You went with the right guitar company. Love Schecter they build high-quality guitar and basses for the working musician!! I highly recommend them!
congrats. that is really well earned, because of your great job . Let me tell you that I have being following you for a long time with great pleasure. I am an old musisian and I play flutes, several kind of percutions, charango. guitar, and because of you I am trying to learn to play bass and I love it and all is just because you inspire me with your magnificent way to do wathever you want with the bass . I am even saving money to buy a very good baas guitar, but it maybe take some time cause the good ones are expensive, but I will, thank to you. keep doing it like you are and keep growing and never stop. I send you a salute from Rosarito B.C. Mexico.
Congratulations on your signature brother 🤟🏿 Awesome bass. I have a Schecter stiletto studio 4 and it's amazing. They cooking over at Schecter for sure
Hi Charles! I'm from France, and i'm very admiring about your style, your technic, and about the fact that you're a very good teacher. I'm an intermediate bassman, but i love the instrument, and i would be very proud to by yours and progress with it; it's a very beautiful bass, modern one, great sounds, and YOU play with the same, i think it will be a collector! So can you tell me if it's possible to buy one in France, and where...? Thank so much James
Congratulations on a real work of art, craftsmanship, and functionality. One question though...why go with a screw-on cover for the battery compartment when clip style covers are available (and superior, imho)?
That's very similar to my Schecter Studio 4, Schecter makes a great Bass guitar. Now i'm going to have to add another to my collection. I love the way that one looks.
Hey Charles, Can't seem to find the dimensions in terms of sheer length of the instrument anywhere, could you tell me the length of the instrument from the rear strap pin to the tip of the head stock? Or anyone here who has one please lemme know!
You're my favorite bass player and I love this bass. Great and thoughtful design choices. You're A string sounds ever so slightly buzzy, more obvious when you're tapping, you might have a high fret between 12-24.
Gorgeous bass and you absolutely deserve it, but god I wish there were options for 5 strings and fanned frets (and maybe headless too, but I know that’s even more niche). That would be an instant buy for me
Hi Charles, I'd like to buy the Schecter CB-4 but I don't see where I could buy it ! I'm French and I wonder if your signature bass guitar will be available in France ? Thanks for your help, congratulations
I bought it, its great. You should have a cb-4 site and Charles can give the people who bought this extra secrets as he gets a cut from every guitar sold. What do you think?
Glad this is coming out! I was wondering if it would be available to the public. Thinking about getting it. Would love if it came with Fishman Fluence pickups instead of the EMGs.
I saw it on another video and was like, "Woh, that's a nice looking bass. And it's Schecter! I'd totally get one." Then Charles said it was his signature bass and I was like "Ohhhh, that makes sense now." Awesome.
You left so much out about the description of the bass such as the wood construction of the body both back and front. The finish of the neck. For example, is it a satin finish which is preferable for bass players. You said nothing about the bridge. Bass players prefer a high mass. You didn't say anything about the curve radius. Is a 16 inch radius available? This is beneficial low action. You didn't mention if the bome nut wss actual bone. It does benefit sound resonance. Is the My Signature bass active/ passive? Is there a duel titanium truss rod? As far as sound there seems to be several very defined tones. You demonstrated that well.
BassCamp is right on point with this review, great stuff as always!
Aint no way it is HIM
Pls tell shecter to make a Five String version

Yup!
Same! I would purchase a 5 string on the spot if there was one available.
Now lets have some sort of comparison between this and the lefay d tuner
I think this bass has a look that goes very well with Schecter's Rob Scallon signature bass! Looks and sounds great!
