Looks like they have decided to keep the summer frequencies on the 84. The capacity increase, however, makes up for the loss in frequency (which is 1-2 buses per hour in the peak hour).
These new buses are having some teething problems. The one we got on yesterday morning didn’t even leave our stop at Olympic Village. We all got off and piled onto an already crowded smaller bus. Tonight I saw another one out of service at Olympic Village westbound, with a transit supervisor and repair truck on site.
Teething problems are bound to happen with new vehicles in general - and when most buses drive for a couple hundred kilometers a day, something's bound to happen
- idk how long it’ll take for me to get used to the blue top of the XDE60’s (idk why they chose that colour) - love how they got some parts of the RapidBus on this (2 destination signs on the side & using the engine from that), even though I thought these buses were for the RapidBus routes 😂 - I wonder what letter they’ll use (B, P, H, V or R) for the buses lol
Route 84. Once Broadway subway to arbutus is open I suspect route 84 would be discontinued. In its place maybe a shuttle route from vcc Clark to Olympic village station to provide local service. West of there the 50 covers the area to Granville and then the 4, 7 and 44. I can't see them maintaining an expensive bus route that would be mostly redundant. The truncated 99 will likely be convert d to RapidBus and with the proper design at arbutus will be able to handle the ubc traffic.
These blue top buses make me sad. The silver top sweep-r charcoal is the perfect livery. The blue top destroys the visual balance and looks like its designed by a 8yo who just wants more colors.
i love how theres a bus route that starts from a community college and ends at one of the biggest universities in canada
Our 25 connects BCIT, three skytrain lines, and UBC at the other end. I think that’s even more impressive within this context
2:54 an update has arrived!
21001-21003 now operate out of Burnaby.
21005 is in Surrey and 21004 is in Hamilton
Looks like as of this morning 21006 has been moved to PoCo.
@@jmstransit And 21004 was transferred to PoCo as well, rip Hamilton.
Edit: This happened last week but I just wanted to get that out there.
Then we have 21023 in Surrey...
EDIT: This bus is back in Vancouver.
21004-21006 and 21022 are the Blue R3 busses!

Thanks. I hope you read my comment about Coaster. Translink was right to buy H60 for this route. I would love a Hydrogen version of NFI D60.

I think that there is not enough demand for Weekend. I was shocked they put so much frequency on weekend -> use regular bus for weekends.

I kinda like the blue tops the 2019 XN40’s have blue tops as well
All the fans and heaters can't be used by the driver same as the doors they open all doors on their own with the 2021 xde60s
