@@HeavyMetalWRXout of the intakes you have used and seen, which intake do you recommend? I’m still lurking 👀 around watching to see what intake and exhaust I want, then I’ll get a Cobb accessport. Very cautious about getting tuned.
@@just_one_opinion well I'm not just bolting parts on and leaving it as is. The car is being tuned to see what we can make. In this case the extra parts will allow the car to breathe better before the front mount goes on next week.
I had issues with the clamps being so slippery due to the oil when installing the filter, and the filter is touching the heat shield, is that gonna cause any issues?
Running into issues like you did boost your knowledge. I've dealt with those push on fittings and they are a pain in the ass. I'd like to hear Grahams input on what that intake did for your tune.
Definitely! We are going through the etuning now. I'm really interested in what the inlet and diverter valve do. The intake will probably be about the same +/- 1 hp or something. I wish I could just test intake vs intake.
Can anyone enlighten me on exactly how the factory recirculating diverter valve works? I know it is electronic, but is it variable / graduated? Is it merely an on / off solenoid? The same question for the "analog" version being installed here. Seems like a VERY simple device. I do not care about the sound. What is the performance difference
Did the stock bpv make a funny noise for you with the intake before installing the Perrin valve? I just did an install of Perrin: intake, AOS, turbo inlet and charge pipe. I get an odd tone (think long pressing a phone button). Assuming the stock bpv doesn’t do well with more boost post tune. Hoping the Perrin valve will solve this. Love the vids man 🤘🏻
Thank you for the support! I actually had no issues with the stock bpv. That's what I'm running right now actually ( but I'm switching back to my Perrin diverter valve soon).
I swapped out my BMS filter for a Perrin Filter Jeff sent over last weekend. Changes up the sound of the BMS quite a bit and makes it much more unique. Im thinking of tackling the Diverter Valve this weekend. May just pick up some spare hose to make the t fitting portion and swap that for the stock hose haha.
The diverter valve wasn't too bad. Just the t connector was a paint. Thankfully you only need to do 1 for it but you will need to remove the intercooler.
@HeavyMetalWRX 🤣😂 yea its the alternator. Have to T into the hose behind it. I'm already familiar wifh pulling that off since its required for the AOS.
It happens to me 😂 If I'm on my back for too long looking up working on the car I get vertigo.m or something. It's so weirdm inahve to take Dramamine before I get under the car for an extended period of time. It's only when I'm on my back. If I'm standing in ok.

To my ear when I get off throttle they are the about the same. As you heard in the sound clip, the Perrin is more of a whine. I assume it's because it's foam and not paper. I was surprised, actually, but for me the power matters. The turbo inlet is going to allow me to get more power so sound be damned 😂
I actually never got my hands on a ETS intake to test. I had the Burger motorsport and Perrin. Now it really depends on what your future plans are. If you're only looking for intake and tune only then go with ETS. They are both great options, tbh.
@@HeavyMetalWRX So im planning on installing the Perrin CAI. Was wondering if it would match up perfectly with their turbo inlet since you mentioned it makes your CAI slanted? are they going to adress that so it fits the filter inside the heat shield? thanks!
@@davos3414 actually I did end up fixing it, it was just the way I had it rotated. It actually sits right in the middle like it's supposed to now. The turbo inlet does move it slightly to the right but I had it shoved much further into the inlet than it needed to be,
I made a mistake of getting their ill fitting overpriced garbage for my 08 WRX. Got the down pipe and tuner. Garbage company with garbage tech support, 2nd pipe they send barely fit better than their first one.

Look at that turbo snowman!!! Love how you can see your air freshener swing back with boost
Bro lmao I didn't even notice that!! My daughter made that for me. I still have it but his strap broke so I need to fix it and put him back up.
Thanks for the info Awais, I’m currently waiting for my Perrin intake to arrive and this is super helpful
Of course! It's a new part and I actually have it so I can talk about it. A lot of people seem to be grabbing it because of the colors.
I ordered it because I have a bunch of other Perrin stuff already and they have a pretty good reputation in the Subie world

Not a fan of the oiled filters. Can you put on an AEM dry filter on? I would try that. Great video again.

U need the shorter inlet there's 2 sizes one for stock intake and Perrin I take question Perrin says u need no tune can u confirm?
I have a full Perrin setup now. Tbh you can use the inlet without a tune but whatever benefit it provides wouldn't be felt until after a tune.
Really enjoying these videos. I have a 2023 WRX Premium. Just ordered a COBB AP and thinking about the stage 2 package they have.
