  • In this video, I take one of Carhartt's most iconic jackets and put it through a series of durability tests. I've wanted to test a jacket like this for some time now. If you have a test that you think I should try or a product I should stress test please put it in the comments below.

All in all, I'd have to say that the most surprising feature was how much the jacket held together in the areas that I was messing with. Its amazing how rugged the Carhartt jackets and most of the Carhartt coats, Carhartt hoodie, Carhartt pants, overalls, vest, are. You name it with Carhartt and that makes a solid version of it.

This shits the real deal. The ones made in USA are tough as can be. No man should be without at least 1 Carhartt coat in his wardrobe.

Just bought this jacket, thanks for posting this. Now I know which areas are more prone to tearing and such

Carhartt is the only jacket that only gets better the more worn out it looks.

It's not uncommon for a Carhartt coat to last over a decade of frequent wear..
    These things are tough.

I really wanted to shoot it. And drag it behind a truck. I just don’t have a place to do either ha ha.

@@TechGearClothing Be prepared to drag it a long way. I haven't filmed it--but I tied some Carhartt B01 duck pants behind my truck and drove all over. As long as the chains I had to hold them closer to the ground weren't actually against the road, they actually held up really well. Like 10-20 miles or more well (wet, rough roads, etc.). They held up well enough to just look like a somewhat beat up pair of Carharrts. They were still wearable--just pretty worn and frayed, with some holes (aka, well broken in lol).
(Where the chains were long enough to actually reach the ground while inside the pants, that did wear some holes in them but, not a big surprise).
Obviously, a gun will put holes in them (but, again, those holes will likely not fray that much--so no biggie). Another thing I did was a close range blast with an airsoft gun--hitting them over and over until I blasted a hole in them (another video on my channel)-. I was just glad I wasn't on the inside of those pants because I'd have had one sore leg.

Carhartt duck is tough AF for sure--they're the real deal, you can (and many do) abuse them all the time and they just take it in stride.
What's great about their duck fabric is that, even if you manage rip or tear it, the holes don't enlarge much (even when washed many times) and they still resist tearing even when they are directly snagged solidly. Despite all the sh*t you did to that jacket, you still have a great jacket to wear and it will take a lot of hard use and abuse still.
That's almost the opposite of, say, denim jeans--in which a small hole easily blows out to a large one (a small hole in the knee--which is common--rapidly rips totally out).
Something you didn't test--duck fabric seems to hold up really well when wet (denim gets significantly weaker when it is wet and doesn't take much to tear it). Carhartt duck seems to be just as tough wet as dry.
I did a few test videos of my own with some of their duck pants--pushing them to (or way past) the limit. It wasn't easy (hint: 4wheelers weren't up for destroying them, it took getting the trucks out; and they really hold up well to metal fence posts and things--beyond what you'd expect).

All the sh*t he did to that jacket--and it's still gtg. Any good Carhartt gets some rips and tears eventually--and they just keep on taking it.

@@robstitt22 Might be good for a warmer day but the amount of holes he put in it the wind will blow right through the jacket, the insulation is completely useless.

    • @robstitt22
      @robstitt22 2 роки тому +1

@@XAVargasX0206 Other than the side, which has a "fist" sized hole--most of those seemed pretty small. I mean, yeah, not as good as new--but, if you're doing Carhartt sh*t and want a jacket to get dirty, stained, drag on the concrete working on the car/truck, protect you from the thorny vines in the woods--it's still perfect for all that. Even if it might not be 100% for a really windy, 10 degree day.
