  • In this video, I go over my experience and first impressions of the Carhartt Storm Defender Force Midweight Hooded Jacket. After spending years in Carhartt's Duck Cloth Jacket, I found myself traveling to their site looking for an upgrade. There was so much more that than I had thought that there was going to be. Jackets like the Bartlett, CarharttHooded Rough Cut, Regular Duck Cloth jackets, and much more.
    This jacket was one of two that I purchased because as I did my research, it just started rising to the top of the list while I was trying to peg down the features that I was looking for to keep me dry in the pacific northwest. With Carhartt’s Force tech in the jacket, I knew that it was something that I needed to test out and I really did end up finding what I was looking for.
    As always, I'll include the link below so you can have quick access to this jacket. If you are interested in anything else from Carhartt, visit www.carhartt.com and see what else they have going on.

    Awesome video, you’ve really helped me out with choosing a more technical Carhartt jacket. I can see you gaining lots of attention on here if you keep up this level of quality and dedication.

    Bro, its weird how sizing works. I was a small/medium for 12 plus years at 135lbs then these past 3 years I've bulked out big time both muscle and flub. I'm 5'5' and 240 lbs and I ordered a large and it fits exactly the way I wanted but a tad bit larger than I'd thought it be. I love my jackets though to be larger than me because I wear layers instead of more jackets, your similar in size and its starting to make sense. Just ordered a heavy jacket by carhartt in L and am looking forward to make it tin style.

    How would you compare this to the Shoreline in terms of ruggedness and durability? I don’t necessarily need an outer shell to keep me warm but protected from rain, wind and snow. And something that can take a beating. Thanks!

    I’m a large long in Carhartt tops and jackets. XL regular in Carhartt is much just too big. I’m pretty much the same build as you.

    Great review. Can you wear this is the winter over layers and be protected from the snow or sleet?

      @TechGearClothing  2 роки тому +1

      Yes. It's a breathable rain jack and really comfortable. It's roomy enough for me to wear a regular Carhartt jacket underneath it. I was in heavy heavy rain just this last weekend for about 6 hours and I did notice that it started to seep through just a little on my shoulders but I mean I was in rough and hard rain, not normal stuff. So for snow or sleet, You'll be good in it all day long.

    Been looking in eBay for this jacket can’t find a large tall. This would be perfect for work. The shoreline is too heavy. I don’t need rain gear to keep me warm, need it to protect from the elements.

      I get a lot of new gear, would you want this one? I can send you a video of it and go more in depth of how much you should expect it to protect you from the rain. It’s not rubber so through extended heavy rain (4 hours or longer of downpour) it starts to come through but the reason for that is because it does breath pretty well and I’ve really enjoyed it. Still in great shape. No pressure but if you are interested, let’s connect.

      @@TechGearClothing thanks. Let me think about it. I have also have lots of Carhartt gear that I use for work. I don’t have any Carhartt wet weather gear. And to be honest I don’t know if I trust Carhartt Storm defender technology as much as Gore Tex.
      I did try on the Shore Line in a large tall at the Carhartt store near me. I really like the jacket but like I said I don’t know if I can trust it. I’m wearing this for work and when I’m working in a down pour or a blizzard want to be confident that I’ll be protected. The shore line is on the bit of the heavier side. More like a late fall / winter weight. Not something I can wear beginning of the fall when it’s warmer.
      With that being said I’m about functionality vs fashion. I’m actually leaning towards genuine military Gore Tex. Price isn’t an issue but I can get a genuine military Gore Tex jacket for about $60 - $75 on eBay.

      @@TechGearClothing what would you be asking for it?

  • @MarcP5267
    @MarcP5267 2 роки тому

    Is this a 2.5 layer meaning it doesn’t have a lining?

    • @TechGearClothing
      @TechGearClothing  2 роки тому

      No lining but it's not like a plastic or rubber feel inside. It has some kind of heather fabric that's really soft.

      The one in the video is this: amzn.to/36qyiVq
      The one that I wear under the jacket that's actual duck cloth I could not find anywhere. I think it has been replaced by the CARHARTT® WASHED DUCK SHERPA LINED JACKET: www.carhartt.com/products/carhartt-men/Carhartt-Washed-Duck-Sherpa-Lined-Jacket-104392
      Its the closest one I could find. It's a bummer because the one I have I bought years ago and I wanted to share it with people but I couldn't find it anywhere.
