Blender: to blend colored pencils that are not yet burnished. Burnish(flattens the tooth of the paper):is the last layer you want to add. Thats all ! Love lots Kasey!
I love seeing how differently every artist handles the materials in every month's box. Rin : **reads aloud the descriptions for the supplies, always does the prompt** Kasey : " Hm, I dunno what these do but let's jump into it y'all! "
She's kind of both. If people didn't want to see what she was doing there would be nobody here. I do think there has to be a balance though, I love Kasey's videos because her art style is so unique and although she does do the popular stuff like the challenges etc she does it without compromising that part of her art. Some people forget that UA-cam is a full time job for some people so to a certain extent they have to do what people want to see or they will not be able to continue to do it for more than a hobby. It's like telling a checkout operator to not serve the customer, they'd lose their job if they just sat reading or watching Netflix instead. There has to be a balance between catering to your audience and compromising your style/integrity. It can be easy to forget that and just brand UA-camrs as "sellouts" and such.
This has nothing to do with the actual content of the video but I just wanted to say that I love your editing style! For example: making the "good job" blury as the focus changes is such a subtle addition yet makes the video much more pleasing to watch. So thank you for your effort!
Kasey hating on purple makes me mad😤 but when it comes to her art and attitude then screw it! I’ll watch her Also wtf Kasey the editing here is so funny
I love how skilled you are at turning a 3D scene into a 2D form (from multiple angles). I feel like an animation in your style would look really fascinating and mesmerizing 😍
I've been using my Derwent Blender for a while. It works wonderfully if you are pressing lightly with your two different colours and using it to blend these together.
I hope you see this comment Kasey because I just want to take a moment to let you know that I REALLY appreciate your content on UA-cam. I never get bored or feel disengaged with the videos you make. You're always trying something new or pushing yourself to get better and I find that so inspiring. Keep up the good work!
I'm copying and pasting this from a comment I made for @DrawingWiffWaffles ! "Burnishing 101 (the way I learned it!): ▪Put down all of the undertones you want to (let's say you're drawing an apple; probably will use yellows and greens, along with some red). ▪Once you have a solid layer, use the burnishing tool (even white colored pencils will work for this) in small circular motions over the drawing, smoothing all the colors together (and yes, this usually makes them look more vibrant). ▪Next, put the MAIN color you want (if you're drawing a red apple, this is presumably red) on top (of course not interfering with any of your highlights), pressing fairly hard, like you did with the burnishing tool, with the same swirling (small-circles) technique. You should have a lovely burnished colored pencil piece!" Hope that helps!!
I am so glad that you continue to work with these boxes! Good Job! Oh I’ll bet that coloring page would work well with markers! Thank you for continuing to create such quality videos and for remaining just as you are!
I loved those pencils so much (I keep getting the black and brown ones mixed up) and I loved the candy so much and the pen was so smooooottthhh to draw with
I love watching you experiment with colored pencils. They’re some of my favorite supplies! I prefer the texture of my pencils as well as opposed to the smoothness you can get with a blender. To me you are on the right track to loving them! Can’t wait to see more.👏🏽
I have wanted to try using other colors to line. You did such a great job! The vibrancy is the colors your chose together are so nice to lol at! Especially on the sort of muted soft cloud background. I’m a huge fan of colored pencils, that’s normally the medium that I use and am used to. Partial to Prisma, I just think they have the perfect waxy consistency that helps blend them together. Anyway. I’m rambling. Love it!! 💖
Honestly even thought you weren't as satisfied at the end I really loved this piece! I have been waiting to see you use more colour pencils after the pokemon postcards you did with the pencil outline cause I loved those, even if you don't end up using colour pencils much It'd be cool to see you use them as accents here and there ^_^
Loving this video as all your others. Would be so awesome if you made a video showing how to draw isometric rooms. They are so cute! I’ve been trying to draw them but they baffle my brain haha.
Helpful hint: the blender and burnisher both work better over pencil that’s been laid down lightly. The burnisher makes the colours more smooth and vivid without you having to push really hard with the initial colour and the blender will blend colours that are laid over each other. :)
Your scribble friend reminds me of Morph from Treasure Planet! 😊 So cute! I actually laughed out loud when you started to complain about how long he was taking with the pen, though. I made mine a Notre Dame tribute, Esmeralda in front of a mandala inspired by Notre Dame's western facade rose window. I filled in all the non-glass parts with the pen. It took well over an hour just to do the filling in, and the mandala is maybe 5 inches in diameter... 😅
I love color pencils and i have to say that you did not did bad using it. In using colored pencils you work by light layers and build up those layers until you have the desired colors and for highlights, you need to preserve them, you cant layer it on top of a color like a gel pen :))
Hahahah I must say pencils are my jam xD and watercolors are my nightmare, so it's suuuper fun watching Kasey using pencils ahhaha I feel like I'm not the only one that struggles
to blend pencils with a blender it is much easier with a light application of color rather than pressing super hard against the paper (aka burnishing). i would demonstrate but i do not have the ability to post pictures lol. also, layering light layers of pencil over and over with small circular movements again really help with very smooth gradients. hope this helped anyone who's reading this!
Tip from my dad: use white as a blender! He showed me with prismacolor watercolor pencils. It works really well. But, you have to do it AFTER you lay the colors down. Anyways, hope this helped. :)
The white probably should be used as a blender. I often use Prismacolor white/cream to blend skin tones and to bring gradients together into a blend elsewhere. Enjoy!
I could never figure out those pencil blending things either by Derwent, and the Burnisher, I found a scraper tool or scissor blades rubbed over the pencil creates the burnished look (shiny and deeper rich color) 😊 Lovely video 👍
I REALLY LOVED THIS ONE I WISH YOU LIKED IT MORE ITS SO ADORABLE AND SCRIBBLY AND FLUFFY! 😍❤❤❤👍🏼🤟🏼😊 even the silly ending was hilarious and I STILL loved it incomplete didnt even notice!
Yea!you should try using your pencil as the line art for your watercolour more often!I do that very often, but i have to go over the line art at the end again because the watercolour kinda... Lets say it layed on top of the pencil ;) Just as a tipp
I never knew there were colorless pencils for burnishing!! I usually use a white pencil to burnish but it can be difficult to predict how dark i need to make the color so the white doesnt throw off the values.
Love the result, it’s very different. I think for the pencils to blend you might need to actually overlap the colours and build up the colour layer- by- layer, and THEN use the blender. It does work! Just takes a bit of practice :D

Its too exciting to wait till the end

_DOES YOUR PENCIL EVEN NEED WOOD?_
*Ever-Leady:* Hold my lead

You should save all of your Skrawlr box stickers and make a drawing out of them like your washy tape video. Please like this so Kasey can see this. 👐💕

I just love how you own your chanel, I feel like watching genuin artist instead of someone just doing what people want to see.

I always love how Kasey has optimistic, yet honest reviews with both the Tokyo Treats and the Scrawler Boxes! It’s so refreshing!
I absolutely love this! the different textures, a scribble that becomes a being, WELL MIXED color pencils.

Hey, thanks! I'm glad you enjoy it because it's a fun little detail to add, haha.
no it isn't required to have wood in your pencils.
