Just so you're aware, a large priority mail box is 12x12x6 inches outside diameter and costs $21.85 to ship to anywhere in the USA including Alaska and Hawaii unless the rules changed recently. So that may help you out with Ak and Hi. The post office will give you those boxes for free.
Hi, Nathan. I hope things are going good for you. Congratulations on all the new upgrades. I just wanted to reach out. I'm on SSI I'm bored out of my mind. I'm good at doing eve. Nothing I can do except for electrical. Other than that, I'm your man. I'll do it for real cheap price. You pay my hotel room, you give me $30 a day to eat food and I'll work for you for that volunteer. I'll help you. We can also find a spot on your property to make a gravel pic. Cause I guarantee you have one, then you don't have to buy gravel anymore. I could just do a lot for you and save you a lot of money. I'm really good at doing stuff. Please respond and we can contact each other. If you're interested
Nathan, I noticed the bucket is still being used for your sawdust collection. Check with a local pool service company, and they will probably have a stockpile of empty shock buckets. It's usually a pain for them to pile up and eventually have to take them to the landfill. They are around 8 gallons and quite a bit larger in diameter. As a temporary fix, I think it could almost eliminate the dust you are getting on that new gravel. My guy calls me twice a year before he goes to the landfill to see if I need any. Free, of course.
Nathan, I realize it takes you extra time and effort to film your videos, but I assure you, most of us appreciate all the different angles and the close-ups and the quality of what you do with those films. I know it affects your workload, but I for one really appreciate what I’m watching and really get into it. Thanks again.
Follow up to the “nail in the tree” from a few videos past. I went to Edgar Evans Marina at Center Hill Lake yesterday. They had posted “Temporary Parking” signs all along the boat landing at the marina. Those signs were nailed (one top, one bottom of the sign) into trees along the ramp. There’s part of the problem; people nailing signs to trees! If you ever get in a charitable mood with your wood scraps, you might invite your local scouts (boy, girl, cub), to come, with a responsible adult, and pick up your hardwood scraps. They could cut up those scraps into one foot sections and sell to people who have “smokers”. I’d rather buy my smoking wood from scouts, or some other local fundraiser, than Walmart. Just a thought.😂
Just bought a bowl blank! I’m so excited to turn this, I love character in wood! When I turn it, I will for sure make a video on my channel and give you a shout out. Keep up the great work!
I have a great idea for firewood ! We use the slabwood from the outside of the logs . its already dried and easy to cut , even in bundles. If you tie it up with bailer twine you could sell it for camp wood at a park and Bruno could earn some clock $ ,
Really appreciate your added effort with video! Bet it makes a lot of difference on your viewership! I have been watching for several years and enjoy your effort! Keep up the good work!
Poor Nathan, he gets to talking, and all of a sudden HOOF & MOUTH happens, as he talks he sticks his hoof in his mouth. And he shares with us. FUNNY STUFF. Hope your still taking Bruno for rides. Thanks for sharing this video.
That is so neat on how that machine works, you don’t have to pull off the cuts it does it all for you. I’ve sold my farm moving out all my woodworking stuff all my saw’s are gone the barn is empty.
Wow that’s gonna be a dream equipment workshop. 30x70 congratulations. Time for another T Shirt have a cartoonist draw your bearded logo holding up a wrench in one hand & axe or saw in the other. Be an awesome design.
I purchased a couple of walnut blanks from you. Beautiful wood, but my two were cut from the slab that included the pith, which always cracks. I would suggest to not use the pith slab for bowl blanks. Thanks. Enjoy your channel.
Thanks for sharing that info on editing your videos. I never realized the time involved in editing. I appreciate the time and effort you take to bring us quality videos. Hang in there!!
Your lifestyle is such that there are many times where you get dragged away from one project to work on another and then you get dragged off to work on a third project. So, things do take time!!! And somewhere, dinner slips in and that takes another bite out of your day!!! Thank you. Would have loved to see a 'finished' bowl blank.
hi there might want to re think getting rid of all that tin , may be good for covering fire wood or other things , just a dot of silicone on a whole and it would be fine , good show best to all john
I like the term "wood spitter". It spits out the wood....Nathan. Maybe Wood Miser can use their next version the Wood Spitter and you can get a "Naming Fee".
If I remember right you got that tractor when you bought the house where your mother-in-law lives and the barn door was too short to accept an overhead cover. Also you were not haying at the time!
A small round stick of wood sawn about halfway through to sit your bar in is what ive used in all my trucks for years. Really cheap :) and when it wears out cut another one..... If you cut it long enough you can sit multiple saws in it!
Love your videos Nathan. Extremely well done with your care and concern shining through. Love everything that you do including your care for your family. You’re my guy👌🌲.
Glad to see you cutting more turning blanks. And even the off cuts look good for turning use. I know you generally burn the scrap, but it might be worth cutting the thicker scrap into squares and selling it by bin or box, green or dry. A chop saw with a stop makes quick work of cutting the squares. Wood varieties that are not otherwise commercially available would be great. Osage orange, sassafras, butternut, etc are some that come to mind. They would most definitely be worth the extra cost over the currently available mass produced blanks.
Nathan I had a Mueller steel building erected 4 years ago. I had closed cell foam sprayed in the roof and walls, and had a mini-split HVAC unit installed with a Big Ass fan hung in the center of the room which is 18’ in the center. The temperature stays 72° year around.
I'm guessing, but, those who tell you that you are cutting firewood late in the season, forget that you do have a kiln, and if you need to use that wood that is not dry enough, you could put it into the kiln for a while, and it would be ready to be used.
Glad to see you're doing something with bowl blanks. Every time I watch one of your videos and see and piece of wood going into the burn pile I think, I could have made something out of that. Yeah I'm one of those guys that doesn't like wood to go to waste.
That will be a nice shop for you and if you go tall enough you can add sides to it and make it wider. I do love those logs you milled. Beautiful grain. Cool video. You hang in there😅. 👍❤️
Sir I do enjoy living vicariously through you, and I do wish I had known about some thing like this when I was a younger man. Where was my guidance counselor? Any way a few questions which I am sure have already been addressed. 1) why not get some "big foot" and sonotubes and just put pilings under the feet of your equipment and then gravel around the rest of the area? 2) why not use those same type pilings to anchor some rail road ties along your drive way to hold back the gravel? 3) why doesn't Bruno saw up all of the scrap wood into pen blanks? Seems that would be a great source of income for his clocks. Take all the time you want to make and edit your videos, although I am addicted I am able to wait patiently. Thank you so very much for true honest family entertainment. The networks should learn from folks like you.
A few years back, my Dad had a maple that was bug eaten and needed cut down. He thought I was crazy when I told him to leave me a few specific pieces. I got some nice little turning pieces. Currently making some pen sets for my cousin to give as groomsmen's gifts for his wedding. I making two pen sets, one a fountain pen and one a rollerball. One pen is being made out of maple, the other out of burl cherry that my Dad found while out hunting. They then go into a walnut presentation box. There is something satisfying about taking a tree and turning it into something especially when you do every step from milling the log to apply the finish.
Nathan get you some agricultural bins that you put vegetables in and stack your firewood in that that way you can move them with a forklift and you have not have to keep restocking them
I'm glad that you do videos, they are always interesting and well done. I'm always looking for your videos every day and disappointed when their not there. I appreciate you time and effort!!

Why do you cut the bowl blanks lomger than they are wide , when they are going to be turned round. Make the width and length the same and you could gain a blank sometimes, Just a thought.
I would gather the extra is just in case, given the wood is green, there's some splitting at the ends of the blank. The extra 2 inches would allow any such splits at the end grain to be cut off before turning the bowl.
Through your videos I've learned about curl in wood, but I've also heard of burl. Is burl a specific wood or is it just a characteristic of wood. I'd the latter is the case, is it species specific?

Depending on the width of the board, change the length of the blank so that they're square.

I would gather the extra is just in case, given the wood is green, there's some splitting at the ends of the blank. The extra 2 inches would allow any such splits at the end grain to be cut off before turning the bowl.
If you ship with uses instead of ups or FedEx the cost is the same to the majority of Alaska as it is to Seattle or montana.
Nathan, the checkout shows $7 for delivery. I thought you said that the total cost including shipping was $52. Is your shopping software misbehaving?
A french drain system might help with your mini hangar/shed with no gutters.
I enjoy your video skills. Carry on.
How much firewood do you use in a winter Nathan?
not much, just enough to keep the wood shop warm,
Through your videos I've learned about curl in wood, but I've also heard of burl. Is burl a specific wood or is it just a characteristic of wood. I'd the latter is the case, is it species specific?
