  • In northern Finland and North Eastern Russia live the Sami people. This culture has a rich heritage, including a game called "Sahkku." It's a "running fight" game in which each players set of soldiers are awakened to battle and eliminate the opposition as they move along a common path. The power King is easily persuaded to switch sides as the game goes on.
This miniature version of Sahkku is available now at newventuregames.com/products/...

Hey I just wanted to point out that you have a kkk typo in the title. Love your channel!

If you are 1 space from a king, in his palace, who you do not possess and you roll a 4, do you rebound from the king, reversing your direction? There are no paths around the king. Also if other opponent soldiers occupy the palace, does the same condition apply?

The rule booklet says "Soldiers' moves must follow the lines on the board." Given that, the piece would have to rebound from the King. There are three places on the board with only one space to pass through: the Castle in the center and at the midpoint of each branch of the track on the right and left. All three of these spaces behave the same way, and can be blocked by one soldier.
Keep in mind that the Peg Pastimes version of Sahkku is only one of many regional rule sets, and has been adapted to a pegboard. There are other ways to play the game (as with most ancient and traditional board games).

@NewVenture Games thank you for the clarification. I'm excited to play this with friends - it has interesting track mechanics. I could see someone strategically trapping people into a limited trajectory with the castle placement.
