At first I was confused, but then someone said this:

The capes as a combo extender was really mind blowing! I wonder if that kind of stuff is possible with Dr. Mario? Call me simple minded, but it's always just so cool to me that people even _think_ to do that kind of stuff!

a lot of the capes he throws out in his combos have the subtle advantage of messing up his opponent's tech timing, allowing for an f-smash follow up.
Yeah I'm a big fan of him throwing in the capes in his combos - like you said I think it messes up his opponents quite a bit!

Wait, what's happening when n0ne is caping a tumbling character--does that force the character into an untechable state, or does the zero-knockback hitstun basically throw off tech timing?

Yeah I noticed that too. I also think that the person probably tries to tech the first move and pushes the L button and I believe there’s 20 frames before you can tech again. So even if you so hit the timing of the cape tech it won’t even be available. Biiiiig big brain
