- Lately I've been playing Super Mario Sunshine and man that game can sure be a sadistic game.
Like don't get me wrong, Sunshine is absolutely awesome, it's just brutal at times. Though, I think the brutality is part of the charm - the sand bird, pachinko machine and the watermelon contest come to mind.
Don't think that Mario Sunshine would be my favorite 3D Mario game, but I think it might be top 3.

Almost 20 years later and Melee is still discovering new things. Love this game.
I think it's incredible that people can still discover new things about the game even though it's 20 years old. There's not many games where you can say that's the case!

This is such an awesome display of cape. It mixes up tech timing, which looks so cool. Does not work in other ones really because of the fall speed and upwards push, but I am definitely trying it in Melee

Sunshine is a bit annoying at first but it’s really fun once you get the hang of it, It is my 2nd favorite 3D mario behind galaxy 2. The pachinko secret stage has to go tho lmao

Yeah honestly every time I pick SM Sunshine back up I'm caught off guard by how strong momentum conserves in that game. In 64, you stop on a dime. In Galaxy, you're really floaty, and don't get much forward velocity.
But in sunshine, you can just gooooooooooo
I even think Sunshine has tight controls, it's just easy to slip, or fall, or go too fast.
I love it.
That's more or less how I feel - I think Sunshine does a really good job of just letting you conserve momentum and I think that's satisfying!

super mario sunshine has the annoying blue coins.
Something I don't like about the blue coins is that they don't tell you how many there are per stage nor keep track of which ones you've gotten, so I can definitely get behind your criticism!
