stopped me in my tracks, i gave my 18-month-old son a cuddle and thought for those family's 2000 years ago that gave theirs one last, final embrace. beautiful, heartbreaking. Colossians 1:16
It is all about opinions. These guys have separate microphones and in a totally different environment. They also have a conductor. Voces 8 is superior in every way
@@davidbudding5836you’re right, of course everyone has their own opinion. That’s why I like these guys, for their depth and rounded sound, whereas Voces8 sing with a sound world we’ve heard over and over again. I’m not right, you’re not right. It’s good we all like different things!
"The text is drawn from the Coventry Carol (16th century), which was traditionally performed in Coventry as part of a mystery play called 'The Pageant of the Shearmen and Tailors'. The rocking lullaby tells the story of the Massacre of the Innocents - when King Herod ordered all male infants under the age of two to be killed, in an attempt to kill the infant Jesus. The narrative voice is a mother of one of the Innocents, singing a haunting lament for her doomed child."🥺💔 Thanks for posting...
We just sa g this in our Christmas concert. It has grown on me and has given me cause to remember how some have reacted to our Savior's birth. I periodically begin singing the piece again.
Wow!!! You popped up by chance (algorithm) on my UA-cam feed!!!! This is my all time favourite a capella vocal work and you sing it with CLASS!!!! Right up there with Voces 8!!! I've subscribed and liked and will look forward to seeing and hearing more of you!!! Thank You. You brought a welcome warmth of notes into my otherwise cold day!!
Thank you so much! A dream comment for us! Looking forward to releasing lots more like this (and including this re-released) as part of our 2024 Christmas album, Nowel el el. 🎄
The sound engineers DID NOT do these voices justice. Please hire a proper recording engineer, then send it out to mix and master if you want to save costs. These voices deserve the best possible capture!
Thanks for your comment, @anhtrinh781! What do you think could have been done differently/better? We’re intrigued! This was done by Delphian Records, who have just celebrated 20 years (and a fair few Gramophone awards in the last few years!)
0:42 clearly shows the numerous shots. The right tenor cannot draw back so quickly is hand from its cheek (btw, who sings while stroking his beard ?!)...
Such a beautiful song. I heard this from Mass of the Ages Guardians of Tradition and had to run and research this song!
That's why I'm here too!
It's so good!! Truly music given from God. I treasure it so much! God bless you.

Absolutely ethereal. Fantastic rendition. So eloquent and haunting. I will return repeatedly to hear this!
Celestial singing.
My college chorus is doing this song for our next concert. It's such an emotional song.
Got this on Christmas Day whilst preparing the turkey..absolutely love this..very haunting and enchanting
This demonstrates the value of good recording practices in making an excellent piece performed by excellent musicians truly shine.
So delicate, so gentle, fragile; the very embodiment caring. Absolutely moving, uplifting, and peacegiving. Thank you so much.
Just gone midnight on Christmas eve and that was perfect for the moment.
Thank-you and Merry Christmas!
This is the most beautiful rendition. Thank you for recording it so sensitively and with meaning. Sorry Voces8 but this blows you out the water!

@@Hallrassy4159It’s wonderful to hear this feedback! The fuller sound you refer to is exactly what we aim for! 💙
Unglaublich!!! Das Schönste, was ich seit langem gehört haben!!! Vielen vielen Dank ❤

Best soprano descant I've heard yet, mournful and on key, not flat. Very expressive and very well phrased performance. Great job!
One of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. Brings me to tears!
Absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much. Your rendition brought me to tears.
Completely Exquisite.
So beautiful. So perfect.

Who is this woman doing top soprano?
The solo descant is sung by our principal soprano, Fiona!
@EnsembleProVictoria Stunning. Voice and charm.
is this pitch-corrected?..
No (and never, in classical recording!) 😊
0:42 clearly shows the numerous shots. The right tenor cannot draw back so quickly is hand from its cheek (btw, who sings while stroking his beard ?!)...
Yes, videos like this are put together with numerous passes, and attached to the audio (from the album). 😊
Was he? Maybe it was copping his face to make sure he is on key. I do that when I sing
Lush.
