Price on that base model is at least $100 less that I’d imagine. Tag on their premium piece makes sense with its attributes. Respect to Maxace for importing top tier damascus🫡Marfione marks their models up substantially more percentage wise while only upgrading blade steel and hardware. They’d never provide fancy inlays let alone titanium without through financial fisting of their consumers💸👀
Actually, now that I really look at it, it reminds me even more of a Microtech Halo 4 with a Halo 6 safety. Even with the problems you've identified, I find I'm still really tempted by this offering. Gorgeous knives! Especially the high end model!
Thanks for the Comparison!!! Been eyeing up the TI TC21 Variant!!! As cool as it looks... I'll probably pass for now!!! Thanks for saving me some Dough Bro!!!! 🫡👊🏻
Carter, love the new background work mat and video on it . Very cool content as always is there any chance of doing a review on the American made Axial Shift OTF?
I would love to, I just don't know if I want to spend my own money on one. I reached out to them a few years ago to see if they would send me a sample to review and they declined.
Maybe the DLC is to make the surface of Ti harder and less sticky? My AL version had the exact same issue breaking in. Went away after a couple of days. But yeah... this knife kind of feels like it could've used more baking in the oven as far as R&D. They'll probably have a v2 out soon. Still a cool piece though. No regrets here and everyone I've shown mine to, wants it. Though their interest cools off significantly when they find out that it's $300. Not knife guys. :)
On your aluminum model, does it look like the blade edge is making contact with the aluminum body? It seems like mine is very close, but I’m nervous it’s just slowly dulling the edge… If I’m careful when retracting the blade I can make sure it doesn’t touch, but I wasn’t sure if they were all doing it….
@ will yours rock back and forth when you’re retracting? It seems if I pull a certain way the spine of the blade rubs and not the belly… but I can also rock the blade back and forth
What are you talking about, Titanium is soft? And aluminum is not? According to what you said the Titanium version will wear out faster than Aluminum? no way. Aluminum is way softer than Titanium and the sticky part mostly appears on metals when is very cold and humid. Try to loosen the upper two screws a bit on the handle, maybe it won’t misfire any more.
You are right. Totanoum is harder than aluminum but tends to gall amd welt to harder steels. While both titanium and aluminum can experience galling, aluminum generally galls less readily than titanium because of its lower inherent hardness and higher ductility, meaning it tends to deform more easily under pressure rather than "welding" onto another surface, which is the primary mechanism behind galling; essentially, aluminum is more likely to "flow" away from friction points instead of sticking to them like titanium can.
@ I see you study this one out. I absolutely agree with the sticking possibility under pressure but I think that temperature does have a vital role in this, at normal living conditions this probably won’t happen. I have two Halo6 Titanium handle, one DLC one not and an Aluminum one, none of them misfired once and like yours Maxaces there is no play on the blade.

I have changed my thoughts a little.since this video, I'm glad that I have this one in the collection
@@edged_mindset I would also really like to see Microtech switch to 7075 as well
Both are awesome and way out of my price range. The trimascus is gorgeous.
Loving the new matt thanks for the video
Thanks for watching!
I wonder if the DLC coating was their attempt to reduce internal friction?
Time to use some moly BCG lube.
Could be!

Nice! I usually end up costing folks dough

If Vlad The Impaler was shopping for a new edc it would be in his cart .
🤣
That Bad Love Leather mat looks so good 👍
It does!

Very good insight

Definitly could get close on the belly part of the blade. Does not appear to be actually making contact though
@ will yours rock back and forth when you’re retracting? It seems if I pull a certain way the spine of the blade rubs and not the belly… but I can also rock the blade back and forth
@ the edge it arrived with was insane! So I’m hoping it stays that way. But definitely arrived as one of the sharpest OTFs I’ve ever had
@mattjay6633 Yes I can manually rock it, but it doesn't naturally want to scrape the edge
@@edged_mindset right on… thanks for helping me troubleshoot… I sent a few pics and a video to maxace so I’ll see what they say…
I thought that they couldn’t import otf knives? Do they assemble them here in the states?
Already assembled
Technically illegal. But import police have bigger fish to fry than a couple crates of OTF's.
Why does the Ti look all splotchy? is it just fingie grease?
Yes. I used alcohol to clean the mokuti before filming which cleaned some oil on the ti off in some spots
How do you clean timascus to look like that?

Dang. Mines been “in transit” for 2 weeks 😭
fuuuuuuu
Mine too :(
Need a bigger mat
I know right

@nebulaM16 Really? I am not aware of a titanium Halo 6.
@@edged_mindset
Vespa Halo6.
Give me the Damascus for Christmas, my friend.. titanium chassi 🫶🖖😁
