- How to replace a sink drain.
Replacing your sink drain is actually quite simple, you don't have to call a plumber. Bathroom sink drains often look worn out and can develop rust over time and can make your sink look dirty.
All you will need is a pair of plumber's pliers and a container to catch water.
You start by loosening the nuts to remove the previous drain pipe. Once the old drain is completely removed, you can slide your new drain through the top and connect it to your u-pipe.
In this video I needed to grab an extender because my drain was not long enough. If your new drain is not the correct size for your pipe, you can acquire the right adapter to install. - Навчання та стиль
The part that you skipped is the ONLY part I needed to see.
Same! 🤦🏿♂️
@@ninosuevi6573 I ended up using a dremel to cut the popup collar just enough to get through the threads which released the tension and then it easily unscrewed by hand. Not an option if you need to re-use the top collar.
@@sorka95032oh so nothing major then?
Christ dude, maybe warn people about that before they get into it, and suddenly need a saw they don't have at 1am.
I know you're just trying to help, but leaving off an essential part doesn't do it
😂😂
I agree
Great video. Informative, concise, and clear. Thank you, Sir.
I couldn't figure out why the drain stopper wouldn't come out of the sink until I saw that you unscrew the top piece from the actual pipe 🙃 feel so dumb but this video saved me a lot more trouble. Thanks!😊
The top chrome plated flange is threaded and is frozen to the top threads of the sink tail piece that goes down through the sink. Either the previous owner glued that top flange piece on or it's rusted in place. Either way, you didn't show anything in the video about how you removed yours.
Very helpful, thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you, this helps a lot
The legend is back!
Hahaha thanks!
This is super helpful! Other videos dont get into the actual p trap. I have steel pipes so was nervous on how to connect the plastic delta drain to the steel p trap.
I love this video Thank you!!!
I'm going to do it today, hope I'll be successful like you.😊
Well done thanks!
Where the bottom gasket (just above the brass nut) goes into the bottom of sink from underneath, any need for silicon and sealant there?
How I misses your videos!!! You make it look so easy. Two comments: 1) I'm glad you wear gloves; 2) you have an Escher in your bathroom?! Fancy!
If your top half is spinning while twisting the straight pipe, I gripped the upper with a pair of pliers while twisting the pipe and it came loose for me
Can you cut a fitting if you don't want to replace the sink drain?
I can't stop the part in the sink from spinning so I can't unscrew the drain. Help!
What about the Part that Locks the Pipes since I can't take out the Sink it self cause the Cold & Hot Pipes wouldn't turn off
Good stuff thx
I got to get an extender too
I figured out how to do what he didn't show. I took a pair of needle nose pliers and stuck it into the drain into one of the little holes after I had unscrewed the bottom part is much as I could. Once putting the needle nose into the drain and into one of the side holes that is visible now that I unscrew the bottom part enough, I'm able to hold it still and unscrew it.
Where did you get that black drain? I need to replace one like that in my house but can’t find any in my local lowe’s
it came with my faucet, I got it all from amazon
the part needed to see you skipped over (the beauty ring removal at the bottom of the sink) about 2:25 - otherwise good
Add a pipe vent, it will prevent gurgling
Simple until ya realize that nut has welded to the threads on the drain from centuries of corrosion. Help!
Same😃
your rubber washers are backwards
Channel locks slim
He installed rubber washers upside down.
procedes to still not show how u remove the drain
Should read "how to replace p-trap if you're a softy".
This guy should not make videos if he don't know what's going on he put both seals on the nuts upside down!!!!!
So the hardest part was so hard you couldn't film it?
It was just a lot of grunting and swearing. You guys didn't miss out on much
I’m stuck on the same part that you didn’t video. I can’t get my tailpiece off the sink because the top piece in the bowl just spins with the tail piece
@@Bowfisher6363 YES! Me, too! What did you end up doing? I’m thinking I’m going to have to have someone grip the pipe steady while I keep trying to loosen the nut against the bottom of the sink. I’m not sure how there’s going to be room for another person, though.
@@Bowfisher6363Me too. I don’t know how to grip the inside of the drain from on top. The whole thing just keeps spinning.
Oh no, this is not good, you skipped over the most important part, the part I came here to see. How did you get the inside unstuck? Why did you omit the most crucial part? I'm pretty sure that most of us are smart enough to figure out all the rest, we were hoping that you could help with that one thing that you skipped over. 😂
It’s called a p trap, not a u pipe! 😳
There is nothing in that operation that requires Teflon tape.
I found this on a whim trying to replace my drain piece.BUT THEN THE ADHD completely kicked in and I got so sidetracked looking at your face and listening to how you talk. Has anyone ever said you kinda look and talk like Fogell off of Superbad! I’m sorry it’s not related to the video.
damn, there goes my self-esteem
Gotta clean that pipe up with sand paper pvc or tissue gets stuck
19 seconds in and already you do not have a clue, those are channel locks.
Then you do not show how to loosen the lower nut and remove the flange. That is where I am stock; removing the flange.
Channel Lock is a brand. Those are called pump-pliers.
@@benknechel2825 Although it is true "CHANNELLOCK®" is a brand most everyone refers to this type as channel locks.
Same goes for the crescent wrench.
I have used this type of tool for 40 years and not once used them on a pump plus, the 'pump pliers' generally do not have the "channel" typical of channel lock pliers.
"Channel locks" is the one best description for the tool being used here.
“u pipe”, everyone who does diy plumbing repair knows that’s a p trap.
Surely this video was meant to be satire.
It's not a faucet smh.
