    This is the most comprehensive step by step tutorial I've watched regarding changing the struts.Others just focus on just the already completely assembled strut leaving out the critical coil spring part.Thanks

      you should loosin the center nut while everything is still tight and on the car that way you don't have to hold it with a screwdriver

    I had to use a hammer & chisel to get the nut off the top of the sway bar link on the MPV I was working on. No joy there.! Lol!! It had the exact same struts as this car. Great video though. It helped me a lot. Cheers!!

    I understand this video was uploaded a while back but have a few questions. Is it fine to jack up the axle from the semi-sphere rubber cap underneath them?, (forgive me, i cant find the appropriate name for it). I also had issues with one of the endlink nuts, out of the 4 on each side, 1 refused to give and i had to resort to cutting it off, thankfully i found the appropriate replacement nuts. One thing i ran into was that the endlink bolt seemed to be stuck, or at least under tension meaning that it seemed hesitant to pop out of the strut. I haven't yet got it out, just wondering if it would be easier if i was to allow the shock to be loose or if i should keep it attached at the shock tower and use something like a hammer. Is the ball join inside the endlinks supposed to move freely and allow the bolt to be removed from the strut? Thanks in advance.

    Good video and thanks! You should probably sand and paint that rusted spacer on the top side of the strut tower on both sides!

      No problem. But rust in one spot leads to more rust and nobody wants rust on their car.

    Thanks for the video, it has given me the confidence to do the same on my 626! What is the allen hex key size for the end link? Do you hold it still while turning the 14mm nut?

    • @Johnnysshop
      @Johnnysshop  9 років тому

      Shoot I wish I remember what size it was. I'll see if I can dig it up.

    Getting ready to do this on a 2002 Galant and will be replacing the coil springs as well...I have everything to do it,but my question is,do you just remove the top "cup" on the front spring?The one that the strut mount rides on,does it just pop off the spring or there a special way to get it off to transfer to the new spring..I have done struts,but never coil over types so this is a new part of ity for me..thank you

    • @Johnnysshop
      @Johnnysshop  6 років тому

      You'll need to remove it if the new units don't include them. Some do, most don't. Taking them off with an impact helps a ton. Just be very careful with the spring compressor, they can slip.

    Great video. Does the car needs alignment after replacing shocks struts if you didn't remove tie rods or control arms?

    Probably a good idea to compare the new strut to the old strut before you re install the new strut to ensure you a have a part that fits.

    Hello there I have a question I my car the nut in the middle is not in the center the one after you put the strut inside the spring and then you put cover and then the nut. Will this cause anything in my car or is the cause of vibration

    • @Johnnysshop
      @Johnnysshop  8 років тому

      +MrRockaroundtheclock I doubt it but it may cause some odd handling.
