- We first raced GT12 back in 2012 when the original supastox was released and the class grew fast and we upgraded to the Supastox GT, then the Schumacher Atom came along which was faster still.
Now we have the latest version the Atom3
We take a look in the box and start the build ...
Join us on our GT12 journey.
The Atom 3 boasts lots of new parts
• ‘S2’ Version (#K207) All of the fibre components included are made from our own ‘S2’ Material, including the chassis itself.
• NEW - S2 chassis included in the kit, with increased flexibility, lower centre of gravity and lower cost than the ‘CF’ chassis.
• NEW - Gear Differential offering improved cornering ability in the majority of conditions. On power steering is improved as well as corner entry stability. The car will also drive much flatter and have more predictability in high traction conditions. The ball differential can still be used and is likely to be an improvement only in very low traction conditions. For ultra high grip tracks a spool option is also available.
• NEW - Top Decks include multiple flexibility settings to further fine tune the flex to gain even more performance.
• NEW - Fully updated front end design with much easier build, far simpler castor adjustment, improved drivability and overall performance. Maintenance is also reduced.
• NEW - Front beam improving front end flex characteristics.
• NEW - Front beam socket using O-ring fixing system.
• NEW - Moulded ultra-lightweight hub carrier with improved suspension and damping. More robust design.
• NEW - Longer lasting front damping with all new king pin.
• NEW - Big Bore side and centre damper, offering improved damping. They also give greater damper oil retention (less frequent maintenance required).
• NEW - Stronger pod base helping to remove any twist in the rear pod.
• NEW - Tweak free and easy LiPo mounting using new lightweight O-ring fixing.
• NEW - Interchangeable front LiPo position stops with 4 spaced settings included.
• NEW - Simplified lightweight servo fitment, fits directly onto slotted chassis holes.
• NEW - Independent, lightweight front bumper mount. Easier front end assembly.
• NEW - Optional brass weights in 5g or 7.5g can be fitted in multiple locations, to achieve the perfect car weight in this controlled weight class. Electronics can be removed by simply unscrewing the weights from underneath.
• NEW - Optional 1.5° camber strap, for when increased steering or agility is required. 1.0° camber is included in the kit.
• NEW Speed Secret 64 tooth 48dp Machined Spur Gear option.
• NEW - Range of optional colour coded front springs available.

I love Schumacher kits. I have the LD2 and the Mi7. And the best thing is if you keep all the staples from the bags and weigh them in, you almost get the price of your kit back! 😂
Not wrong there I keep finding staples all over the place
Off to SC Models this morning to collect mine! Look forward to following you Racing your one Carl
Cheers Jenny
Next 2 videos are edited and waiting to be released
I haven't built any 1/12 pan car chairs before...but, looking at it's overall design, it's, essentially, identical to how most 1/28 chassis are for Super Stock & Mod classes. Too bad we don't have a track anywhere around here that runs these, or I'd definitely consider getting one.
We are lucky as there are 4-5 tracks within 90min drive from here
@@PopalongRC That would ne nice...EXTREMELY nice. Before moving from the San Francisco Bay Area, access to tracks was fairly plentiful. Within 30 minutes, you had a few on-road & off-road locations to choose from (the closest, with indoor carpet off-road, and outdoor asphalt on-road, was approx 10 minutes)...and, for those willing to drive slightly further (up to two hours), there were several additional choices. Unfortunately, in Las Vegas...which is in the desert, close to 'nowhere', there aren't really any options. There was an indoor carpet track - 702 Speedway - but it closed a year ago, and there's an outdoor location - Silver Bowl - having dirt off-road & asphalt on-road tracks - but that's it. The next closest that I'm aware of is approx 2 hours away, and that's only a dirt off-road. That's why I'm thankful to have come across the Mini-Z group. While the majority of vehicles run on this track are 1/28, 1/18 oval racing was recently started (also run on RCP track), using Sprint Car 3.0 & Asphalt Modified cars from 1RC. Obviously, while up to 6 Mini-Z cars can race together, due to the size of the 1RC cars, only 3-4 can race together.
We are looking forward to giving mini z racing a go
After seeing these wee GT12's running recently i'm facinated by them. So quick around the track for something so simple.
What're you using for sound recording? A cheap £25-35 Lavalier Microphone/ Lapel Mic or directional mic sounds like it could be a good investment
We have used lapel mics but it has been temperamental so no mic on this one
Is this like a pan car? Looks a lovely piece of kit! No wheels, tyres or body though I’m guessing?
Gt12 is very similar to a pan car here in the uk slight different chassis design and gt shell rather than lmp style shell
In the US the rules are different so they run GT shells on the UK LMP style chassis
All these different classes...where do you find the time pal😂
This is becoming a regular class for me at the moment
Still dipping into other classes though.
Mark however has been bitten by the buggy bug
Looks great and excellent breakdown of the steps. For me, the concern around the GT12 class is that the manufacturers seem to just be slowly creeping the cars towards LMP. The wheels are a major giveaway of this. I mean take an image of the Eclipse top-down, then the Atom 3 top-down, then look at the rear half of the car. Its identical. What you want to bet that the next iteration has the same front end or moves to wider rear wheels?
It has come a long way from the supastox I started with and there is a definite progression in performance.
Looking forward to running it though
On this note, interesting experiment, if you saw a 1 second improvement between the Supastox GT and Atom, what if the Supastox was using Atom wheels?
Interested to see the data
Hmmmm
Trying build the rear diff need help
what is wrong with it
@@PopalongRC the instructions are not clear confusing me and my girlfriend trying put it together the rear diff
