I have an older Ryobi battery pack that went into deep discharge and now will not charge on a standard charger. With many battery packs, applying voltage to the output terminals will wake them up. This is not possible with Ryobi. The pack must be taken apart to do this. Voltage must be applied to the upper and lower cell. With an older pack this could happen often. To save me the trouble next time, I drilled a hole in the O of the Ryobi at the negative end of the pack. This cell end is exposed and a NEGATIVE test lead probe can be inserted to wake it up. POSITIVE can go to the positive of the packs output. It doesn't take long to put enough charge on the pack for the standard charger to function again. This trick will probably work for other packs also.

Yeah I believe the p102 had this issue really bad and it was basically sold with every tool. So Ryobi got a really bad unreliable name a few years back.
