It's because it's been breed to have short noses. Breeding makes cute dogs but creates genetic disorders that these dogs have to live with. Best to stop breeding pure breeds.
Thanks for keeping it simple and to the point. I learned so much by watching the video. I just brought home 2 English Bulldog newborns. Keep up the great format.
Thank you for all this information. It’s amazing how much work and love you give to these beautiful pups and momma. I been watching as we are thinking about getting a French building and found you trying to get as much information out there. TFS
Thank you so much for the videos. I’m so nervous, my bulldog is going to give birth on the 24th. It’s the first time for both of us and your videos help a lot.
My chiahua just had puppy’s this morning and they woke me right up screaming and hollering scared the momma really bad but she calmed down and they are all doing amazing
Foster mama just gave birth to 13 lil wigglies. They're all active and noisy but 4 or so of them are very sleepy. They fall asleep on the breast quickly and get pushed off by the other more active babies. If I touch the babies, she demands access to their bottoms. It's almost like she appreciates me holding them up for her. She has only 10 nipples, and on top of that 3 or 3 of them are inverted! Ive noticed several will flip upside down so this was extremely helpful. She has had no issue with me helping her or rearranging the babies. I have had difficulty getting her to drink water, change positions or unfold. She basically is hidding half her nipples plus the ones closer to her fore legs.
I assumed that since my dog is so healthy and vibrant, her birth and nursing would just be easy as pie. Not so! I wish I had watched all your videos before her birth. I've made so many mistakes. Thankfully, pups are still young and we are changing course and seeing improvement. Such important info!

@@HouseofWrinkles hi! My lab just had some puppies (8) how do I make her lay back like your Zoey here? My dog keeps curling up in a ball, only allowing some puppies to feed
have nine newborn German Shepherd puppies that are now four days old. Some gained a few ounces above the 15 ounce average birth weight and then rebounded back down to birth weight. Some stayed at the same weight as birth weight over those 4 days. They are eating about every 2 hours. They are strong and vigorous. They only cry when hungry and can easily crawl over to feed themselves. In between feeding if they don't cry, they sleep and don't act hungry. We have a light bulb that keeps a small area at 85 degrees thats available when they aren't next to mom. We've checked rectal temps on a couple and the were 97-99 degrees. We have started a small amount of formula, about a tablespoon at a time in between feedings. The small amount is to prevent aspiration. The vet recommended a tiny bit of Karo syrup rubbed onto the tongue occasionally to keep blood sugar ok. We didn't get much information from the vet so far to tell us when we should be worried. How many days can they remain near their birth weight and still be ok? We want them to gain an ounce or two a day but we aren't sure what we need to do differently? I know it's possible they could have worms or something? Mom seems to be making milk. The puppies seem satisfied. We give the mom canned puppy food mixed with a regular dry dog food, a hard-boiled egg every day and some peanut butter for fat. We aren't sure what would require taking them to the vet? We have good vets and they didn't ask to see them yet. I know it's possible that the first few days they might not gain much? But I want to stay on top of everything. Most information I read is that they should gain 1-2 ounces a day after the first 24 hours.
Yeah it’s very strange that they aren’t gaining more weight. It’s normal sometimes for them to loose weight the first 48 hours but after that they should start gaining. If mom is eating good and babies are eating good. I wouldn’t worry just yet. But in another day or so you should see their weight going up. If not you need to bottle feed.
@@HouseofWrinkles ok. Thank you! Some gained a few ounces on day 3 and dropped back to birth weight on day 4. Strange. I know it's not an exact science, because of fluctuations and scale not totally accurate. Just like when a person that is trying to lose weight, they weigh themselves daily, but it's more accurate over a week's time. But of course a little puppy needs to be monitored closely every day to catch any problems, even though its not perfectly accurate. This is the first time for the momma, and the first time for any of us in the household having puppies. So we don't know when to worry. We don't know if its a worm issue? We don't know if they should be routinely treated at this age for wotms or tested at the vet first? Either way, we'll see how the next few days go. thanks!
I have a question I'm not sure if it'll get answered sence it's been a few years lol but can new born puppy's sleep in there nesting box at night without the mom ? Or do they need to stay with the mom every night till they get old enough. I'm just scared she might sleep on top of one of the puppy's
Hi do your puppies aspirate when eating sometimes ? My pups are 5 days old . They’ve aspirated since day one. I use a suction machine to suck the milk out there nose. Any tips ?
We just had 5 pups on the 5th and some of them aspirate, I immediately take them off and wipe their nose and burp them, How do you know if there overeating? First time momma
How many days old were these puppies in the video? I have a pit I’ll who had puppies yesterday and i wanted to see what a regular feeding should look like for them and her ?
Hi so my dog just gave birth this morning and the first born is very tiny and abit lower temperature. The mom licks and all but is not very experienced. The puppy is not latching on the nipples. So i am taking the mother’s milk in a feeder and feeding the puppy very little amount. I was wondering how often in a day do I feed her?
My puppy is a three day old Boston. He is super thin unlike the rest and he fails to attach to the nipple of the mother. I have been trying to give him powder puppy milk through a syrange he has gained weight but still fails to suckle?
Try feeding him with a regular baby bottle. He may have to always be bottle fed. Sometimes that happens. For some reason sucking a bottle is different from feeding on mom.
Ugh i am having so much trouble just so frustrating. Caring for puppies after finding a abandoned preg dog. Cant temp. Cant weight. Cant latch half of em. Just not prepared and so stressed.
I saw you have to feed Chaco a certain way. Didn't realize that bulldogs could choke so easily. Too bad I bet you would get some good color puppies from him. Love the unique colors you offer.
What does it mean if momma checks on them periodically, but I have to physically lay her down to get her to feed? She’s still attentive to them otherwise. First time mom. My first time having puppies.
A lot of first time moms are like this. They simply don’t know exactly what to do. It’s totally normal to have to force them to lay down for the first several days-weeks.
@@HouseofWrinkles the babies are 6 days old today. She will go over to them and cry. Haha. It seemed like she understood the first few days and now doesn’t. You should make them eat every 2 hours for 30-45 mins each feeding ( don’t wait until they cry) You should stay beside mom the whole time and make her lay.

@House of Wrinkles awesome I just had my 1st litter yesterday feb 22nd. I purchased the lamps you posted any reason why mine don't seem to get hot? Or are they not supposed to give off much heat?
They should feel warm directly underneath. Get a thermometer from ace hardware and lay it down underneath where the puppies are and see what the temp is
@House of Wrinkles I'll try that today. Also how often should we try and make them poop and pee? These lil guy's seem to be goin good on there own but we have done it every time before they nurse?!?!
