That's cool that it really adds up, I had always sort of suspected that anything stateside wouldn't be quite the same, and obviously it can't be exactly like being in Japan, but I'll take your expert word for it that this is the real deal. Certainly still not easy to get to the other side of the country, but a little more convenient than going to Japan!
It's hard to quantify, but I really feel like the editing and narration really matches your usual manner of telling stories!
I travelled to LA on Holiday last year. It was the first city I have ever gone to outside of my own country. Incredible.
This maid cafe seems awesome, I sorta wish my town could have a maid cafe. Apparently we had a French styled traditional one in the 1950s (or so I was told)

Ok, so what we have learned, if you want to meet Maid irl, all you have to do is rent a venue in little tokyo, collab with an anime studio, decorate it professionally, hire a bunch of cute maids, create an entire elaborate and authentic experience, make sure the entire thing is completely legitimate and THEN send an invitation to her and she will just turn up, 'cause maids. Got it. :DD

Oh hey, I was in Little Tokyo on July 4th as well! Didn't go over to the maid cafe, but it was fun seeing the energy from the Anime Expo crowd. Even saw a couple cosplayers while browsing for Gunpla.

It might not be the most attractive feature but IMO attention to detail is very important as it shows how much care and love for the original is put into a recreation (this goes for cosplay, too, though I suppose we're not far off from that here), so I'm really glad to see the effort that went into it. It's also great to have it reach a wider audience -- I feel like these kinds of events all too often lack advertising to fans and curious folk that would otherwise stop by or even fly in for them.
