I would love to see your commentary on the wizard liz, she sometimes says things that are right on the mark. Othertimes, she promotes narcissistic patterns and dialogue to her viewers. We are worth more than just success, money, our appearance, the men we date etc. Being a 'high value woman' sounds miserable.
I never comment on videos but barely a minute into this and feel so seen... I have created such a lonely life for myself with this mentality which I never knew I even had (too independent and career focused). It is indeed toxic masculinity for women, its made me actually quite miserable. I am on a journey to be more vulnerable, open and less materialistic... thank you so much for talking about this!
These are some really interesting conversations started on this channel... two other toxic "feminist" messages I see are outright demeaning men (there are influencers out there whose online persona hinges on this, telling women they're outright above men). The other is toxic empathy or codependent traits... getting behind every girl, no matter how deranged they are. It's one thing to be more compassionate toward mental health matters, but outside of that, "supporting"/"understanding" every girl sometimes lacks nuance and good boundaries. Both of these issues start to lean towards double standards and narcissism.
I really value relationships and family (as I grew up in a dysfunctional household) and would LOVE to be married early and have a lovely little family of my own. However, I've been feeling embarassed to admit this out loud as I feel I should be hustling/girlboss and shouldn't want a man. This vid made me feel much better about my own goals!1 xx
Thank you so much for sharing that! It's completely understandable to feel conflicted when society often pushes us toward the "hustle/girlboss" mentality. But wanting to prioritise relationships and build a loving family is just as valid, beautiful, and important. I'm so happy that the video helped you feel more at peace with your dreams. 💗
Loved your video and agree so much on every point you made. I have been also wondering if the hyper-independence and girl boss became such a movement because of a trauma response. Yes the girl boss is a capitalist concept and was introduced to us that way. Also, at least from personal experience, I come from a family where all the men have been very abusive, physically, emotionally and psychologically. As a little girl I remember my grandmother (survivor of domestic violence) and my mom (survivor of emotional abuse) warning me about the dangers of being in a relationship with a man. I got this idea early on that men are dangerous therefore I developed an independent attitude as a mechanism for survival. When I talk to a lot of women about this, unfortunately many of us have felt the same way. We learned the dangers and downfalls about relying too much on a man, grew up in a girl power environment and it morphed into us becoming the perfect demographic for the girl boss message.
I'm so so sorry to hear about your scary and painful experience with the men in your family (and your mother and grandmothers). I hope you are all finding ways to heal. What an insightful and wise comment. Thank you so so much for sharing. I completely agree - the rise of hyper-independence and "girl boss" culture is defo closely tied to past experiences and trauma, especially in relation to men. ❤❤❤
@@alessiasutherberry thanks for your kind words 😊 I am doing my best to heal and I just found your channel two weeks ago and I’m loving your content so far. I relate so much to it.
FYI : there are many people who truly love their creativity & work .. Bored & disappointed with this video she made ... Her De-center men video was great 👍🏻... But this video is total U-turn 😅 Hence Double Standard exhibited here.
I don't think this is a U-turn. De-centering men video was about not acting solely and specifically for the male gaze. This video is a reminder that capitalism and patriarchy go hand in hand and that capitalism was created by men. By questioning 'girlboss- ism' you are also in effect questioning patriarchy. So totally not a U-turn in my opinion.

You sound like a minor. Having a husband is not a flex you think it is. And also he is not a dog. He could cheat and leave you darling.
