Timestamps with the best guitar faces - go!
5:16 to 5:24 runs quite a wide gamut of emotional responses, but 5:33's snarly appreciation into hallelujah is a good one
4:02 and 15:03
5:57 is a belter 😅
2:49 Popeye likes it!!!
Around 5:55. Gain is good.
Wow! I have to watch this 100x
I can't wait to see what ideas you steal from Leon next! ZING! J/K #H3000Gate #MichaelBeatLeonToIt #NotEvenTried
@@Dejoblue Oh man! I already have a long list of things that I've stolen from Leon!
My channel should be called "stuff Mike did 5 years ago but not as good as he did it"
@@LeonTodd oh, we are going to find stuff Mike hasn't done yet!
It’s such a good unit, the effects make things come alive in a way no plug in can, it’s just amazing, :)
I always come here for the gear, but I keep coming back for the playing. Always keeps the note choices interesting, which is what guitarring is all about.
This is seriously one of the best effects videos I've ever seen. It's way beyond just a preset demo, it shows how to combine and layer effects along with tweaking to get the right textures out of each sound. The beautiful part is that you can apply these concepts to other effects you have - you start with building blocks and create something new. Bravo.
I bought a used eclipse a few weeks ago. Really really enjoying it, thank you for the motivation and programming demo.
Congrats! Such a high quality unit
very pleasing videos all the time. Happy to watch you playing. Thanks for what you've been doing.
Glad you enjoy it!
I had one of those many years ago. Sold it. Errrrrrrrrrrr! Now it back on the list.
I guess you don’t drink or sleep. Excellent video!
wow,...thnx for showing the eclipse,...had no idea it was around, let alone how good it is,...i m gonna look for one great demo
Dear Leon, we may have to part ways. This may be the last straw. It's not me , it is you. First you are accomplice to my decision to buy a H9. My old G-Major is dusted off right now after it went into retirement after the H9 replaced it. I blame you evoking nostalgia for it with your G-Force video. And yes, I play a JMP-1 too. You couldn't have known, but should take this into consideration before infllicting any further GAS or nostalgia or even a combination of the two. To add insult to injury, the UA-cam algorithm shoved this video in my face which is very close to trigger a serious GAS relapse. Please be cautious with such great videos.
That first vintage delay tone is kickass Leon!
Thanks so much! These are really helpful!
Evintode is soooo cool. Like AxeFx. They do it right.
Very cool video sir.
Thanks again for sharing these wonderful tones and your great mind with this stuff. Hope you're well sir.
Just bought a used one. Looking forward to installing
Now, that is one awesome piece of gear. If I still had one, it would be hard to compel myself to leave the house. I really liked that piece you were playing at the end.
Stunning quality!
02:23 mic drop! Best ending ever
I'd love to get one of those. They sound incredible. This weekend I'm going to bust out the h3000 and jam on that.
awesome stuff mate - thanks
That’s awesome Leon
@LeonTodd WOW!!! RIGHT OUT OF THE GATE. Hearing that delay at the start of the video I wanted this thing.
If we can get that module in a pedal at some point I'll take 3
The fx blend so well with source signal.
5:30 I think we all did that in our chairs... I think you are going to have to do a deeper dive in to those magic parameters at this time stamp.
Good morning LT! Very nice and Enjoyable unit! Thanks for sharing brother and Be Well All!
Good morning! What's on the agenda today?
@@LeonTodd Doctor visit! Gotta get some damn Pills! Yuck!
Thanks for asking Brother! Be Well!
Anytime I watch one of these gear reviews (that I really like), I always go and look for availability and price. I have the Eventide Space pedal, which is a fantastic piece, as much as I like the Eclipse… it’s price is a bit over the top. Great video. 👍🏻
Great demo Leon. Just one thing you may not know, there are somne algos that take the two blocks, so you don´t always get to load two at the same time. Some reverbs for sure , cant remember the others
Another great video Leon! How many times do we hear Leon say something like this? "That's so over the top and ridiculous - I love it." I like your use of FX!
"A little bit of olive oil" but for fx :p
My H9 was my first Eventide product. I was beyond late to the game. The eclipse sounds amazing. Makes me want to build a rack...
Mine was a timefactor - still one of my fave delays! this is just next level though
The entire parallel section starting around 6:30 is wild.
The Manifold Beta eventide sounds and guitar faces are the best. ;)
More of this series (and the Lexicon PCM) please
Sounds EPIC
Wow I want one, I know my H3000 D/SX has it in it I'm sure if I ever get to tinkered around with it.. Thanks Leon enjoying your vids!
Go for it!
I miss this piece of gear. ❤
I love that eventide, totally killer! I want one!!!
The definition of lush
Beautiful sounding unit and great playing. Question for you Leon, can this unit do seamless preset changes and spillover of the delay/reverb? I've heard conflicting things about that.
Just watched Nielsen's vid comparing the 3 eventides and wound up here. Thinking about getting another Axe iii for silent home play and recording. Browsing those comments for your thoughts on the Axe iii vs this. 😁
Sounds great bro!
Interesting enough during my readings I found that axeiii is actually based on their algorithms and circuits.
Just saw one of these pop up locally used. Costs the same as a new amp head. A bit much for a guitar effects unit for me! For someone working with this in a studio probably very reasonable.
Would be fun to have a little shootout between all these units like quadraverb, spx90, SDE-3000, pcm and eclipse etc in some basic settings/presets like their reverbs and delays to get some grasp how different signature sound they all got. Not doing special presets they're uniquely known for like symphonic though.
I assume you don't have all of them in your possession at the same time though and didn't record any template like clips, but it would be fun. Personal favourites so far have been spx90 and pcm, but it might be just imagination with so much time between. Eclipse sounds kinda like something Steve Vai would use. So much of that shimmery highs. Effect sounds, while pcm just felt like really enjoyable size to the sound. The UI in this is very usable, but it's weird and confusing to load building blocks from presets with weird names when you're creating your own. Most of them seem reasonable though, but presets like blackhole. Seems like Eclipse by default has the effects overpowering the original signal, kind of its thing.
great stuff! We need some comparison with Eventide H90!!!
manifold_beta reminds me the solo effects on Starla from Smashing Pumpkins.
I’ve seen this unit a lot but I’ve actually heard it the first time here….wow 😮
Great hey!
This is my next rack unit!!! :-)
$2k used right now...just pulled the trigger on a pcm 81, so now gotta wait on this one! BAHHH!
Awesome
Man I hear evh In all that stuff
He loved his eventides
Imagine the sounds you could get by using this with the Axe Fx 3.
Dang Bro I wish I knew how to do all that. So impressive and cool!
The presets on this are unreal!
@@LeonTodd I could only imagine ;)
Thanks for this tutorial
You're welcome 😊
Leon Todd - How about pairing the Eclipse with Synergy SYN-2 and some preamps? Wouldn´t that be a nice fly rig with a small midi controller?
"that's so over the top and ridiculous. I love it"
Whats your effects chain? Explain the best way to route one of these. Thanks.
Eclipse, sarai ancora mio !!!
Could you please do a Blackhole and H9 vs Eclipse?
More vids on programming plz!
Leon, how difficult is it to get these out of the axe fox?
U2 dotted delay & Brian May 3 part Harmony for next video pls ? 😁👍
Would you please zip your tone presets into a .zip, so that we may download and experience those goodies?..please!
I wanted one years ago for my rack but I think it only had XLR ins and outs if I'm not mistaking, and I think it only does 2 effects at a time. But that thing sounds great.
Use XLR to Jack cables....
You can use 1/4” jacks without the need for adapters
Just waiting for you to build the MEGA rack with the Synergy preamps and all these multi-effects units.
Soon
@@LeonTodd could you do a video on rack building? Covering ground loops, programming etc?
Which algo number is the "vintage delay" ? It has plenty...
Great video! How would you compare the effects on the Eclipse vs Axe FX III? Which would you choose for effects only?
Different animals that each have their own sound going on. The Axe can run a lot more blocks at once and has a lot of more guitarist friendly effect type presets, but the Eclipse does have some super inspiring "out there" presets.
@leon, whats the tune at 6.10mins? sounds awesome
Leon, have you ever compared it with the h9?
8:30 has notes of the heartbreak high theme
If you use this for a guitar rig, whats the point of the input in the back?
Would be interesting if you could do the guitar fx for Simple Minds "dont you forget about me"!
Leon Todd said he couldn't play something... and then plays the sh#t out of it lol. Love his vids.
Hi Leon, I assume you are using the Eclipse with the Axe FX? How do you have this all routed? Are you micing FRFR speakers? Using real cabs? so curious, thanks for your time
Out 2 from the Axe goes to the input of the Eclipse and the Eclipse digital out goes back to the digital in on the III. Eclipse is placed in a parallel row after the the amp/cab model and set to 100% wet.
@@LeonTodd Got it! Thank you!
7:14. Wow! Recreate on FM3 please?
Is it possible to have two delays with different delay times to emulate something like a binson echorec?
Yes, several ways to do that
Hello Leon, I hope you are well. What would be your choice between an eventide eclipse or an eventide h90 to complement a rack and pedalboard that work together with pedals like the tonex, gt 1000, some analog distortions, a boss sy-200 and a psa 1.1 in the chain.
The H90 is going to be a lot more flexible for a guitar rig most of the time IMO
@@LeonTodd I really appreciate your response! thank you
The eventide racks still fucking rock!
Hey man ! Grest sound! Questione:Can Eventide switch head Channel through stereo 1/4 Jack? As tc Electric Gmajor 2 does? Thank in Advance
No
Bollocks!! I want one of these too !!! Somebody give me some money !!
Hello mate, big fan of your videos and a big thanks for sharing your knowledge. Quick question on the eclipse V4, do you have it hooked up to the AXE FX3? If so, just wondering how are you matching the gain stages (AXE FX out -- Eclipse V4 in -- Eclipse V4 out -- AXE FX3 in) to get the best out of both? I´m thinking the more unity you send to the eclipse the better it will process the signal, but for the output probably sending the hottest signal to the axe fx may not be the best.
I have them connected with IN/OUT4 as the "Effect Loop" to the eclipse and the signal from the eclipse add it into a mixer to level out to tasting as specified in this video ua-cam.com/video/mIyPk4Cg1ks/v-deo.html, apologies for the information in spanish. This is one of the holy grail in tone for some of us Soda Stereo fans.
Just wondering if you have given that a try...
All the best on 2022
Axe out3 - Eclipse in
Eclipse SPDIF out - Axe-Fx SPDIF in
Running the Eclipse in a parallel chain 100% wet
@@LeonTodd thanks! Any particular reason for using spdif on the way back to the axe fx 3?
I’m thus out pulling the trigger I have the h9 do you think the eclipse has better sound quality ?
Of you like the H9 you'll love the Eclipse IMO
Hello! Does it have those distortions tones? Thanks!
There's a few basic ones but a dedicated guitar preamp would be far more suitable for most cases
scrummy manifolds. loved me some alpha when i had this box. rig that sucker up to the axe fx. have the axe handle the bread and butter stuff and slap this on as super sauce at the end of the chain. yumski korsakov!
oh and yes, the vintage delays were a fav of mine too. something special about them, for sure
oh and top tip - instead of bypassing the unit which will affect your dry level, select an empty preset which has it's level set to -3.5db instead. much more consistent.
even better to insert in the middle of the axe fx chain. spdif that puppy up and try amp-cab-mbc-chorus-longish dual delay--cumulonimbus reverb or plex reverb. swell some notes in and have a sensitive sunday all weekend.
Man I wish we lived closer, I'd love to just watch and listen to you tear away on these. Going to try all these btw!
@@LeonTodd one of us would probably only have to move a few miles in any direction and we would be closer :)
Wow. So lush. I ended up selling my Axe FX3 a couple weeks ago. This thing sounds a lot better to my ear. How do the modulation effects compare in your opinion?
Would love to hear more about your experience - what specific sonic qualities about the Eclipse sounds better than the Axe FX3? (Not trying to be confrontational - I'm just really curious!)
Serious question: if I have an Axe-FX III is there any reason I should desire an Eclipse as well?
The Axe can certainly cop all of this if you dive deep programming BUT the Eclipse has "a sound" and some amazing presets so if you can afford both you'll be in sonic bliss.
Thanks for the quick reply!
Is it just me, or does the Eclipse sound low-fi compared to what the Axe Fx 3 can do? The Eclipse sounds great, but in a slightly "dated" way. Would you agree?
Two words - Great "rack"! 👍
What song are you playing at 6:14? you play it a lot and I know I know it but I can't place it. Thought Satriani but couldn't track it.
Heaven above from their album Ragdoll Rewound, when you listen to that song you will listen over and over again...that´s happened to me!!
@@danthrax7407 Thanks man. I swear I thought I'd heard that before. Riff's just that good I guess.
@@twat75 Totally agree man, and Ryan´s voice is astounding
Nice! Whats the riff in 06:25?
That's a Ragdoll song called "Heaven Above".
does it change presets..fast ?
Not really, but it can crossfade between 2 presets
What amp are you using?
The Axe-Fx III for the raw amp tones
@@LeonTodd Oh, ok. Which models in the vid?
@@rmp5s Clean stuff is the JTM45 and dirt is the Mark IV model.
@@LeonTodd Awesome. Sounds great. Thanks!
V 4 ?
Yes
Multishift 2 ain't Micropitch...nope!
I don´t like it , I don´t like it, I don´t like it...poor me...I like it a lot!!!
Unbelievable prices for old equipment through your review, especially eclipse... almost all sold on reverb platform immediately...
Yeah it's a ripper!
Can we get a hair tutorial 😅
There are plenty of great units out there, but Eventide's units are in a league of their own. The rackmount units are about as user unfriendly as Adobe software, but dayum, the payoff is like nothing else.
Try programming your own algorithm with VSIG. Holy shit that was an experience not to be relived but wow was the sound from the racks worth it!
sounds like cerati
Great demo Leon. How do you connect it to your amp? Effects loop? Also, does the unit have a mono output, and if not, how do you connect it to run stereo out? Thanks for geek insight.
