Haha, If half of Hollywood knew Marr was shopping in there, it'd be complete chaos. Probably my favorite guitarist of all-time, his melodies are so killer.
They don’t actually buy the records. They aren’t actually shopping.
@@RockyRMR they pick out what they like and then get them for free
"I blanked out the minute I walked in the door."
I'm glad I'm not the only one! As soon as I walk into a record store I'm so overwhelmed that I forget what music I like
the nicest guy, met him when he was on tour with modest mouse in louisville kentucky and he was super down to earth, and friendly. Total professional and a gentleman. left a great impression on me
onward pilgrim, Thanks for taking the time to share this story. Always nice to hear something good about someone whose talent you admire.
Absolutely love his involvement with isaac brock
I saw him touring with modest mouse as well! They never sounded better! Central Park
So unlike Morrissey LOL, I do love Moz music, but he's so insufferable. Johnny Marr is a superb musician and a kind cool person!
Man, Johnny Marr is a pretty sophisticated dude.
and why should this surprise you when his music appeals to intellectuals. Generally.
Couldn't be cooler if he tried. Legend.
Exactly my thought.
It's because he doesn't try.
Wanka
No question. Totally The Fonz.
This dude doesn't age. I wonder if he has a portrait in his basement, lol.
movie references huh

+Nick Paxoulas read a book
+Ash catchem What?
What a treat, thumbing through vinyl at Amoeba and a few bins over, hey it's Johnny Marr of The Smiths.
I love how he is so unguarded and generous with his opinions in all his interviews - he never treats a question with disdain or sarcasm. Class act.
Johnny is honestly one of my favourite persons, I truly love him.
This man and his guitar 🎸 🇬🇧 ❤️ , Sending Johnny & his family LoVe 💕
Definitely one of my guitar idols. My band in college covered "William, It Was Really Nothing" and "Barbarism Begins At Home".
'William, It Was Really Nothing' is one of my very favourite Smiths song, along with 'Cemetery Gates'.
That was a thoroughly interesting peek into Johnny Marr's brain. I'll have to seek out some of those titles. He'll never cease to fascinate me. I love it when the girl says "Yay" at the end.
That typically unenthusiastic fake yay that North American girls do best.
impressed with his picks-- name dropping Lawrence, Hockney, Huxley, plus all the classic movie soundtrack guyswow!
He’s my favorite person in the entire world
Pretty cool to see Marr hold up a bonobo album.
Glad to hear that praise for Colin Newman. The man's a genius!
Great comment about his love for Wire's music, which sums it up for me, dealing with the surprise of a new Wire release and not ever knowing what to expect from them. On the other hand, I love his "To me, the idea of sticking with the one sound for 20-odd years is ... lazy, y'know?" (4:35) Could this be a jab at what Morrissey's been doing for the past 20-odd years?
bonobo,Huxley, sally mann and hockney a man of taste.just like his guitar sounds.good stuff in that bag.you can feel hes not pretending to like his stuff.
Johnny seems at home in a record shop. He loves culture
I'm always at home in a record shop they're great places! 😀
"Not always great" says the man. He is right, so many bands have a few cracking songs, and the rest are average, or fillers. The Smiths` work was bullet-proof. Every piece of their vinyl I hung onto since hoarding it in 1987 - every disc and track is goldplated. Thanks Johnny.
One of the coolest episodes of this series
The God that is Johnny Marr! from Manchester and the coolest bastard guitarist
What's the bet that Morrissey's bag would be full of Morrissey albums, photos?
Not Likely. Probably T Rex New York Dolls and possibly scrooner type stuff.
Not at all. Idiot.
More like Jobriath, Ramones, New York Dolls, Shelagh Delaney, Elizabeth Smart, Oscar Wilde and so on.
Probably a Big Mac and a bucket of KFC
Good one! Alas, it seems some people didn't get the joke...perhaps it was too close to home and too near the bone.
This is my favorite Whats In My Bag?
one of the most original guitarist IMHO i'd check out anything he likes.
Now I'm happy. Ennio Morricone. Good stuff.
johnny marr likes bonobo and bonobo likes johnny marr. how awesome
They kinda look alike too
This bag held my attention more than any other bag.
Always fun to listen to Johnny play and also hear him speak. Despite what he says and has done, his magical spark will always remain in his early work, and the band he created and disbanded. I think he should reference his own tunes here - they're way better than everyone he mentions!
Agree! I think marr is just as much a musical genius as Moz, but it's strange to see him now tour and sing, especially sing Smiths songs. Just listen to how beautiful and different Strangeways , imagine what they what have achieved after that. I mean, all of their music is beautiful, but you know
Love this series! Just catching up. Great people as subject. A big fan of Marr in his Smiths and The The...in fact, a lyric from a The The song is on my mothers' gravestone "Love is Stronger Than Death".
this man, is the greatest man, that ever took breath from the skies.
Just gotta say what a nice guy 👦 bloody good musician 👌 as well
I would love to spend the whole day shopping with Johnny
как у него горятся глаза, когда он говорит о своей любимой музыке

Ah, warms my heart to see JM purchasing The Ideal Copy and praising Colin Newman's experimentalism. Great record.
Man, Johnny Marr is an awesome guy!

@@fortylove68 Yes! We are a minority in the Wire listening population.
An incredible shade of black/navy blue Johnnys hair is.
Cool, didn't know he was into Huxley or Dh Lawrence, and those albums looked great love Morricone, I'm definitely getting that album.

Not what I expected. Well done, Johnny.
Black sands.great album.
God, I love this guy!
Possibly one of the nicest rockers of all time. :)
Great selections, Johnny!
I'm very lucky to have a few quality record shops in my immediate vicinity. It gives me such a thrill, being able to go there and find records I do and don't know.
The man's a fockin wizard!

Very deep choice from Marr.

Please don't do that

Johny has impeccable taste .
No way man. Johnny reads Blavatsky and Huxley? He's a mystical renaissance man. Good shit.

He loves transcandalism, Sally Mann, Ennio Morricone he has an awsome style, he used to be in The Smith, where he was my fave member...Can we get married already??!!
What is hilarious is that I clicked on this video to watch it while winding down before bed, and literally 2 hours ago I ordered the same John Mcglaughlin Lp record online? What are the odds?????
Queen
The Smiths are one of the greatest bands....EVER.
@Rocky Klock I'm so fuckin jealous. I never got to see The Smiths. I just got into them 2-3 years late after they broke up. I used to hate their band, but after hearing them for the 1000th time, I became their biggest fan.
met him and keanu reeves at a tom vek gig in manchester. awesomeness : )
an astounding pleasant person
bonobo!! wow didn't expect that!
johnny's got amazing taste
He's into some really cool stuff.
kooll huxley and thoreau were cool guys and i get taught about em in school which is nice
If you decide to like something before you know anything about it then there is no chance of disappointment if you live fully by it
@ShinjiL Oh, thank you! I actually have this on my laptop, but didn't yet listen to it (don't ask me why). It was also titled 'Untitled One'
@Reint25 Both 3:54 and 4:39 are fragments of ' I misses you ', an unreleased instrumental song by The Smiths.
The John McLoughlin album was an interesting choice my dear friend of mine and I used to listen to that album in the seventies my friend his name is Eddie she was a fantastic guitar player very very cool
Some of us have enough sense to have never given 'em up. No excuses unless you live in Frogsballs, Iowa
Finally a proper fucking rock star.
Black Sands is a great album!
This video should be called Tony Montana What's in my bag
That's some dark boot polish you're using there, Johnny
best pick hand in the business
damn good taste in art. Emerson. David Hockney. If you don't know David Hockney look him up! Sally Mann too! one of the more interesting What's in my Bag videos
GOOD KNOWLEDGE JOHNNY MARR....
woot.... Johnny marr likes Bonobo, thats awesome....
40 ppl were turned off enough by the dyed black hair to give thumbs down. It can’t be based on what’s in his bag. ... I would prefer graceful aging with Mr Marr, but it does work for him.
Cool interests. Why am I not surprised?
Great bag!
woooo Bernard Herrmann
@Ahmadthegooner This might be late, but it's We Share the Same Skies by the Cribs (his most recent project). They're a great band with and without Johnny Marr.
@TheRecon88 thanks!!
I'm off to the pub : )
