  • Scorched Earth Toys @ anymoon.com and / anymoondotcom reviews Bandai's Tamashii exclusive Hikaru Movie Custom Strike VF-1S Clear Mechanic Edition. It's a reissue of the movie edition Hikaru VF-1S that was sold previously, now with an extra vertical stabilizer and bundled with special 'clear mechanic' strike parts. This was heroic protagonist movie seen in the hit film Macross: Do Your Remember Love? This film was released outside of Japan as Clash of the Bionoids. If you're a fan of Robotech, Do You Remember Love was a feature film adaptation of the TV show Super Dimension Fortress Macross. Robotech's Macross Saga is the international adaptation of that same TV show.

    I prefer the clear plastic Bandai used on the mechanical edition than the ones Yamato did, as you said it would have been better if Bandai did mechanic detail for the forearms in clear plastic to go even further than Yamato did, algo a clear plastic gun pod with mechanical details would have been a good choice. I'm glad Bandai didn't put a light gimmick on the super parts, it just adds trouble for a feature I'll only use once before a) removing the batteries forever or b) forgetting the batteries inside only for them to eventualy leak. Wish Bandai made the VF-1 in 1/60 scale.

    It is a great looking toy but for me is a pass , I already own the original release and the clear parts don't do to much for me...! Great review as always!👍

    I absolutely love the see-through aesthetic, but I already own it in 1/48 & 1/60. REALLY wish they would have given us some new clear parts like you said.

    I'm fine with my 1/60 Yamatos with removable covers if I want to look at the innards.

    Do you think they could pull off a nearly transparent body with the mechanics detail inside? I know they kind of pulled that off with the VF-25 Fold Clear, but I am not sure they have the space for the mechanics detail and transform. I would totally be behind a 1/48th scale non-transforming clear battroid with as much mechanics detail as they could pack into it. I think that would be amazing.

      For something non-transforming, they could do that. For a transforming toy, they could do a much better job on doing the strike parts as clear throughout. They also could have easily done a clear gun pod and clear missiles.

    I feel like the symmetrical stabilizers thing is a perfect example of the strange out of touch things Bandai does from time to time. They invent a solution to a problem that didn't exist which actually becomes a problem in its own right. Then they have to fix the problem they created later. Truly bizarre.

      That was packaged with the DX VF-1A Angelbirds toy. Unfortunately you have to buy the whole toy to get one.

    Wish Bandai went the extra mile and designed the clear plastic/mechanical look for the Forearm armor too. Hell give us the mechanical Gunpod while they're at it. Also I can't help but wonder how the Clear plastic will hold up in 10+ years and turn yellow or get cloudy?

    The VF-1 is possibly/arguably one of the 3 top mecha/ship design of ALL TIME. I am not capable of choosing the top 3 but there would probably be 2 Star Wars ships in the top 3. This ship belongs with the greatest of ALL TIME. I would have to include Slave I. What would you put in the top 3???!?!?!!?!?!
    Edit: I got my 3rd best design but this is purely nostalgia so I want it top 3 of all time out of arrogance. (?) Nausicaa's mehve.

    Thanks! Shame about the squadron labels not all being there. I hope they offer the clear parts separately, or the other squadron member editions soon.
    Excellent point that BANDAI could have easily added electronics at this scale when KitzConcept could accomplish it at a smaller scale, too! C'mon BANDAI, at least meet the bar if not surpass it!

      As they never included a red 011 roundel with the original strike parts, I kind of wish that they'd made this a VF-1A and had it here, rather than double-dipping.

  • @yunoyuluvit
    @yunoyuluvit 24 дні тому

    What's happening with these releases, now? We have the head moulds for each of the main versions, so I don't know why Bandai can't release the remaining TV and movie VF-1s. The strike parts set hinted at a Max and Roy movie release.

      I think Bandai lumps all Macross series into one business channel so they all compete with each other for a spot in the release schedule and it takes an eternity for them to make progress for any franchise or any toy line.

    The fact that NONE of these come with missiles is a complete joke by Bandai. What an insult to consumers! Having us buy parts that should be standard for any VF-1 release and charging a ridiculous amount for them just shows how much Bandai only cares about milking collectors.
