FYI, Shadowheart has a cantrip spell (i.e. free to cast), called Guidance. It gives you a +1d4 (i.e 1 to 4) on you ability check rolls. When you have the roll dice screen, at the bottom, there is an "Add Bonus" button, and you can have Shadowheart use this to help you roll higher. It's free, you can use it all the time. No downsides to it.

The reason that firebolt didn’t do anything to the big door even though it’s vulnerable to fire is because it has the medium toughness trait which makes it not take damage unless it’s 22 damage or more. Thankfully your barbarian strength broke through that easily 🎉

    • @LUCYJROBYN
      @LUCYJROBYN  11 місяців тому +5

Thank you for pointing that out! I think I missed the toughness part and just looked at the weaknesses or something? I will learn soon enough haha.

Good to see you back on bg3! The combat starts to make more sense the more you play. I always find a strong start to any conflict starts with trying to get the higher ground. Like the hill at the entrance to the grove.
Higher ground gives advantage status to all range attacks and spells accuracy and effectiveness. And you can tend to miss more attacks when your the lower ground too.
Holding back at higher ground is also a great technique if your being attacked by a larger, overwhelming enemy horde. They have to waste turns getting to you and you can keep firing at will at them till they are in melee range to finish them off.

if you dont want to kill someone but you have to fight them, toggle the Non-Lethal attacks down in the Passives tab below your skill bar.

I'm deep into this game now, gets proper hard, really need to synergise armour, weapons, spells, cantrips etc. The choices you can make are staggering in how it effects the encounters you have, next level amount of choice and repercussion.

@@LUCYJROBYN I fumbled my way through a playthrough knowing full well I was not maximizing the builds of my characters and I was fine to get through it all. Doing as much as you can find to do in the game is the easy way to be sure you're gaining the XP and leveling up so that you can afford to not be an expert in this style of game.

Not sure if anybody has told you yet, but with Gale be sure to cast mage armor on him to raise his HP since he doesn’t wear armor. It’s already on your prepared spells. Also, whenever you encounter a space with a lot of traps, you can toggle into turn-base mode so you can move each character one at a time or just one to disarm them. That way your party doesn’t accidentally trip a trap by all running as a group. Loving your play through so far! 😊

35:43 as you figured out with doors with Health bars, you can destroy them but i would inspect those doors, just in case attacking them doesnt work, cuz some of the doors are resistant to certain damage types., but yeah destroying doors does save you time from finding the damn key though.

Yeah, Lae'zel is abrasive in the beginning, but Shadowheart is snarky/snipey, Gale is full of himself, and ffs, Astarion full on attacks you when he meets your Tav. They all go through quite a bit of character development over time as they get to know the party members & Tav.

1:27:03 good thing your not a paladin, or else you would be breaking your oak by attacking the Tieflings here, but yeah this is why you save-scum (by saving and reloading the save incase things didnt go your way)
saving and reloading alot when you fail the Dice roll thing, isnt really a bad thing, just helps you get the outcome you want, i do reccomened doing it if you feel like its needed.

That was fun! Good choices for Gale’s spells, but I also recommend replacing Witch bolt with Chromatic Orb for the area-of-effect possibilities.
If you poke around in chamber where Withers was hanging out you may have found an amulet that cast Speak with dead spell, adds a creepy but cool dimension to the game. In another room cool book Gale would be interested in opening.
Looking forward to next stream! 👍😊

@@LUCYJROBYN The background of your character and the others determines what "inspires" them. Inspiration is what allows rerolls on skill checks. Gale is a Sage, so any events with books, learning, etc have a chance to inspire him. Astarion is a Charlatan, so is inspired when to deceive people.

So, as you can imagine I was quite drunk and hardly remember a thing😂

Stop with this kind of bs please. Yea Barbarians do better without armor but people play differently, especially those new to D&D. If it bugs you, make a helpful suggestion instead of being an ass. Rather than gatekeeping, say something like "Barbarians are like Conan, they tend to do better when not wearing armor." "Astarion is a rogue, they deal massive damage when hiding and using sneak attacks from the shadows." Otherwise let her learn.

Little rude guy. Not everyone plays games by researching everything. Some people like to actually learn by doing.
