They used them in very synthesizers before computer technology was widely available, they pulse on and off rapidly in order to produce the required frequency. There's a more detailed description on Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transistor

+Siren1000T Ok ,I asked because I heard someone say that MC controller came out in 1995 with the Modulator. But actually the Modulator came out with the MCP controller. I do know for a fact that the newer 612s made from 1990 to the late 90s had MC controllers ,and then the last ones made for special order in 2005 had MCP controllers.
Pretty freakin' cool!
Does this use transistors to produce the sound as opposed to the standard electronic tone cards?
I don't know what that is.

i see.. this is a dual tone mc controller

That's the transformers you're hearing being pushed into saturation
Yeah your finally posting

Fire Alarms & sirens Oh no a grammar nazi
What’s producing the sound? Does it have an internal speaker?
yes
It's the transformers in the amplifiers. These controllers don't have internal speakers for that reason.

It’s like when you hear a microwave buzz because the microwave runs on 60 Hz will the transformers in this are vibrating to the produce sound

Wait ,isn’t the MC controller for Modulators?
The MC controller was the only type of electronic siren controller used during the early 1990s for any of Federal's electronic sirens.

612s were discontinued in 2002 (Same year the MCP controller was replaced by the current Ultravoice controller).
+Siren1000T You at correct ,But I have know Idea what year the 115 ,1212 ,408 ,and 812 were discontinued.
I would guess when the Modulator came out, they discontinued those.
What's the point in the clock?
I think the "CLK" indicates that the controller has power.
The clock shows that the CPU is counting properly
Cool!
Just like the ones in Chicago.
Those use ultravoice, actually.
Vyclops no mc
@@bnmobildirecto3949 Your correct. Most of the sirens have MCP controls, but one does have Ultravoice.
@@Vyclopsmcp looks the same as uv controllers but sounds the same as mc controllers
All of Chicago uses MCs except for one unit that had its controller replaced with a UV due to the MCs tone board blowing up
Awesome!
I forgot that the mc had silent testing capabilities.
And you're gonna blow those amps without an 11ohm, 200 watt load across the outputs of those amps.
Nice.
