Your channel is such a breath of fresh air. The energy you both bring to the videos is amazing. Love the little history lessons along the way. Hope you enjoyed your trip to my beautiful home state of California. A place with almost too much beauty.
Glad you enjoy it! Thank you so much and thanks for watching!
Stunning! Can’t wait to get there before the summer is over!! ❤
Oh, my goodness, those views are incredible!! 😍
I haven't even started this video but I clicked so fast and I'm so excited to watch!! We had to cancel our trip to Canada last fall due to weather so we pivoted to California. WOW I never knew the Sierra's could be this beautiful! We didn't have ta permit for big pines, but we did do a day hike and hit all 9 lakes back there! Long 20 mile day but soooo worth it. Love watching your videos, you give me such inspiration/motivation for outdoor adventure :)
What a gorgeous place! I loved how Kona refused to go into the frigid lake- one smart pup!!
haha she's a funny girl
Heartbreakingly pretty when watching from boring work… but reminds me why I want to drive all the way out there again!
Love your positivity! Fires happen regularly in the summer and it is smoky here today because of a fire in the Sawtooth Range near Redfish Lake. You are familiar with the gorgeous Sawtooths! The positive side of fires is that they clear out beetle kill and make way for rebirth of new seedlings and undergrowth. Another positive is that the community has gathered together to support the Redfish employees that can't work at the moment. Be loving and positive and good things will happen!
Some of my best childhood memories are of the Eastern Sierras and Sheepherders Bread. I still dream of trout fishing at Rock Creek Lake and taking my first deer at 16 years old and my grandfather taking his deer moments later from the same group of deer. Love the Vlogs thanks for
helping bring back the great memories 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🤓👍🏽🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Absolutely STUNNING scenery!!!!
My husband and I love watching your videos! Love your honesty and we love seeing all your videos and adventures! Thank you for all your hard work, we appreciate you both. I’m binge watching your videos today ❤
Thank you and thanks for watching! ❤️
I must have just missed you guys! I was there from June 16th-17th. I have been there twice now and both times I had that same site! Easily one of my favorites! Highly recommend going up to the Palisade Glacier next time! Great video as usual! 🤙🏼
Gorgeous! A & K we love your channel. You show & give such interesting information about the places you visit and share with us. Thank you!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
So enjoy your videos and grateful you are filming and sharing with us. Most of the places you hike I will never see in person, and I love your enthusiasm for the planning and trips, and your respect for your surroundings and one another. Hike on!!!
Thanks for bringing this you guys…epic scenery..good work as usual!
This video was great!! Now it’s on our list!
Thank you so much for changing your mind and bringing us along on your travels, especially the hiking and backpacking that some of us can no longer do.❤
Love this! Such breathtaking scenery. It's on my bucket list! Thanks for sharing.
That might be the most beautiful place I've ever seen in the U.S. It looked so fresh, clean and peaceful. Camp site was perfect.....Happy Trails 🐕
I have trouble finding good hiking video like this lately. Great job! Keep it coming.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
WOW! This is so EPIC.
AWESOME! Look at all these MOUNTAINS!
That was stunning! Glad you all got to do that.
The High Sierra is so beautiful!
Excellent videography. Very nice use of the golden hours, both dusk & dawn. 11:39
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your adventures. Your videos are awesome! Happy trails!
Epic views, great cinematography to capture these majestic mountain landscapes... Thanks for taking us along!
Those are definitely gorgeous lakes.
You snagged a great campsite.
As a local , next you should try Hidden lake. And Thunder and lightning.. thank you for the footage.
We'll add it to the list. Thanks and thanks for watching!
Great video log. The Palisades are one of the most impressive ranges in the Sierra Nevada and a climbers paradise. I prefer the view of Temple Crag from Third Lake and its access to Contact Pass for climbing Mount Gayley. High winds in the afternoon and even at night are common in the alpine zone. I bring ear plugs.
All we have to say is, Wow! 🎉❤
It’s so beautiful there. Thanks for sharing this video
So refreshing today!!! Trying to stay off the controversial areas and so thankful you all posted this!
I can see why that would be a tough night's sleep, but what a view. We can always count on you guys sharing a great hike with us, thanks again.
Excellent! I was hoping a video of this hike would come up in your Sierra travels this summer - great job as always capturing the beauty of the area - we love Bishop and the Eastern Sierra, such an under-rated and fun place... can't wait to see what other adventures you have planned.
Epic campsite, and The Comfort Crisis is such a great book!
Wow, this video was so beautiful! That wind was crazy…glad you all didn’t blow away!
Soooooo nice, the views from your front porch in the evening @10:20 Just wow.
Can't wait to be there in 3 weeks and hike from Mammoth to Tuolumne...
Beautiful country again!
I started listening to The Comfort Crisis after you suggested it in a previous video. I'm nearly done and have enjoyed it so thanks for the recommendation!
That’s awesome! We really enjoyed the book!
What an awesome overnight hike and backpacking trip. You guys are awesome
I was expecting this when you said you were going to spend the next couple of months in the Sierra. It is my favorite place on earth and it is just so beautiful.
Wow. So beautiful. Thank you for your great videos.
Wow, what a great trip you both had, I’ll have make it to that lake one day, the area is beautiful, I enjoyed your video and the information you gave, I’m gonna watch your video again, the humor and dancing at the end was hilarious. Thank you.
Thanks and thanks for watching!
Really cool you got to go here, one of my all time favorite hikes! Love the eastern sierra
You channel, and the three of you, bring me so much joy! Thank you for sharing your adventures!
Thank you and thanks for watching! ❤
It’s beautiful out there!! 💖 It looks like you all were in a painting! ☺️
Great video as always did not know CA had all that wow thanks for sharing
Love Big Pine Lakes!! Depending on how much or little snow falls in a season the lakes can either be a brilliant blue or a more muted green. No matter what, it’s just gorgeous surrounded by beautiful mountains. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy our beautiful state!
That's what we read! Very special spot. Thanks for watching!
Muchachos! My wife and love to watch your adventures. Hi, from San Antonio Texas!
Hola! We love SA! Thanks for watching!
Another great video guys! @15:00, "We don't need a reason for tacos!" Love it!!
Gorgeous scenery back in California. Awesome that you love your van. Hold on Kona ! Lovely wild adventure ! YUM tacos !
Awesome video. Love your content. As you guys were hiking into that section on that day, I was hiking up to summit Mt Whitney the same day.
Very cool! We hope to get back to do Whitney one day!
Another grand adventure! Thanks for sharing! Love you guys!
Your campsite has the most amazing views sorry it was windy but the scenery was breathtaking
Had to catch up since I was traveling too.
Oh!! We LOVE Big Pine!! We had the best couple of nights there a few years ago. 😍
200,000+ subscribers…. I remember when way less than 100,000! Good for you guys! Love love your content!
Seriously, that was an EPIC campsite!!!!
Today, I had the weekend off from road trip so I managed to watch this video. This mountain hike and lake scenery is spectacular. I wonder what the night sky looks like... And off course, the coffee shop trip +++.
That area on 395 is so unbelievable. We have been a few times, from Boston. Will go again.
And if you ever consider this hike again, do make it up to Sam Mack Meadow. It’s gorgeous up there with a wonderful view of lakes 1-3.
Good to know! Thanks!
What a beautiful area! I did backpack once out of Tawalpe meadows in Yosemite national Park, Cathedral Lakes is where I backpack.
I know this has nothing to do with this adventure, but I wanted to share our adventure last week. We were scheduled for a vacation in the Canadian Rockies. First, our flight on Delta was canceled because of the CloudStrike Computer hack. We found a new flight from the USA to Edmonton. We drove to Jasper to stay at the Mount Robson Inn and found out the wild fire burned our hotel and much of Jasper National Park to the ground. We decided to drive to Calgary and stay a day before leaving for Banff National Park. The park was filled with smoke and rain for most of the time we were there. We did get one good day to see Lake Louise and Canmore. Of course our flight back to the USA had to make an emergency landing in Minneapolis (we were schedule to go to Chicago). We missed our flight home and had to sleep in the airport before we could fly out of Chicago Tuesday Morning. I think I will live my Adventures through your videos for now on. 😬
Wow! What an experience! Hopefully the next trip goes much smoother!
What a nBEAUTIFUL video! Love your AMAZING photography! Bless you guys. ❤
If the Park Fire was not raging, I would totally suggest getting up to Lassen Volcanic NP! Have you two been there yet?
Big Pine Lakes is great. We hiked this trail a couple years back. Gets overlooked because of Yosemite and the other national parks nearby.
Hey! We went a couple years ago, but there was still a lot of snow so we couldn’t do all the best things!
@@AdventuresofAplusK it’s such an underrated park. Have all the fun on your future adventures!
It really is! Thanks, y’all! Safe travels!
So relaxing love your journeys tyvm
bin up there, and yes!! truly beautiful.
This is not a comparison because I have not backpacked where you were but where I have backpacked my favorite place is the area just west of Lake Tahoe. The trail leaves from the west end of fallen leaf lake and ascends to the aloha lakes area but my favorite part of the trail is the area between lake aloha and Mt Tallack ( It is the mountain that often has the cross shaped snow drift in it’s eastern slope that you can see from the eastern side of Lake Tahoe looking west). There are two alpine lakes in the area..Lake Heather and Susie Lake that are small but beautiful. If you get a chance you might want to check them out some time. Spring or Fall might be best as they are crowded in summer but don’t go too early or too late because the snow melts late and arrives early some years. Loved this video. Love backpacking the Sierras.
Beautiful work you guys! I’m heading to big pine lake late October on my birthday week. Will do only a day hike up to lake three. I’m not afraid of the hike but how the weather be. Any recommendations?
We haven’t been there in October so we don’t know how it will be. I’d definitely bring layers so you can add and remove as needed. For weather I’d call the nearest ranger station to get a better idea!
Dang that’s gorgeous!!! Have to love that type 2 fun right? Especially if it means tacos in the end. 🌮
Definitely Type 2! But so worth it! Especially for good tacos!
Great video. Thank you so much. I've gone to Mammoth since I was a child in the 70's and we always pass Big Pine on the way but have never stopped and hiked. We need to try it. We always stopped at Schat's in Bishop. Yummy. I was wondering what green shoes are you wearing? You went swimming in them and then hiking. Are they water proof? Thank you.
I was wearing Altra Lone Peak 8s. They are definitely not water proof. They are very lightweight and dry very fast. Love them!

Thanks and thanks for watching!
I love the bloopers ..
I loved your mosquito dance😊❤😂
Great job on the video! What beautiful country. I haven’t commented on your videos in a long time.Would love to be camping, but unable due to upcoming surgery this week. Just wanted to let you know that i still pray for you.
We hope the surgery goes well. Get well soon! Thanks!
Schat’s Bakery is one of my most favorite places to stop whenever I’m in the Owens Valley!
Nothing says 'communing with nature' more than having to e-snipe a reservation :P
Ya 😂 that's the way it works these days haha
Another greta video!
Really cool packs. Care to share what brand and model they are?
Hey Matt!
You can find all of our gear here: adventuresofaplusk.com/gear/
Thanks for watching!
Oh wow- I live in Calif. and have never heard of these lakes. Gorgeous!! Looks like we can get to the lower ones on a day hike? My overnight backpacking days are behind me ;)
Getting to the Second Lake is definitely doable in a long day hike
Thanks for watching!
I love that place, we go every year😍
The 20 lakes basin at saddlebag lake which is at the top of the Tioga pass at the eastern entrance to Yosemite is the absolute best of the eastern sierra. I've been up and down all of the 395 and can say that with confidence. Give it a shot if you don't believe me. :) 9 miles total.
We believe there are tons of beautiful spots in the Sierra and everyone has their favorite! You really can't go wrong in the Sierra!
Great video
Fantastic! ❤ Can you recommend some great California hikes for senior hikers? Maybe 6-8 miles max?
AllTrails is a great to we like to use to find hikes! It will show you miles and elevation. We also have lots of guides for California on our website 😀
‘That was in tents’ - I see what you did there 😉
Now that's what I'm talking about for scenery! BTW Adam, how was the fishing?
The fishing has been awesome out in California! I haven't caught any wall hangers, but it's been a lot of fun!
Long distance hikers have a saying: embrace the suck! I love your channel!
Once again I noticed you blowing up your air mattress and I thought I would suggest again you look into the Flextailgear Tiny Pump. I weights 2.8oz and I have been using one for years. I have no financial interest in the company. Also, it's great for starting a camp fire. I really enjoy your videos.
Thanks for the tip! It takes less than a minute to blow up the mattresses so I don’t think carrying extra weight out there for that would be worth it. But thanks for the recommendation and thanks for watching!
@@AdventuresofAplusK Understood, I have a Big Agnes Pad and it takes a lot of air to blow up but so comfortable and compact.
Hmmm, we've been to Bishop but did not know about this epic trek! (BTW: When we were ur age...35 years ago, ha!)....we spent 6 months Backpacking all over the South Pacific, New Zealand and SE Asia. NEVER regretted it! Of course, THAT was just the start of our adventurers~~~ Carry-on~~~pete & Wendy
We hope to get to New Zealand one day! We loved Vietnam, Thailand, and Singapore and can’t wait to go back!
Thanks and thanks for watching!
@@AdventuresofAplusK NZ is a fave~~(not such much Aussie for us:) These days we "hide" in Montana (Summer) and Florida (Winter). Blessings~~~
What do you guys rank that on best places you camped? It has to be near the top, that was absolutely stunning.
It's definitely near the top! Have another one that will rival this one coming soon!
Stunning!!
thanks A+K
Glorious!
Hey Adam .... I saw you with fly rod out in that lake. Most of the times I fished in colder weather/water trout aren't very active. How did it go for you?
I hope you enjoyed that time to relax.
I am hoping to make my way to the Sierras in early October. Fantastic scenery. Best to you both!
Hey I had a 100% success rate out there! 2 casts…2 little guys. Sight casting. Had to stop because Kona was not a fan. She gets bored very easily haha
I’ve had a lot of success out here in California! Learned a lot too
@@AdventuresofAplusK
So glad you’re succeeding. I’ve been fishing a long time, and I still learn.
Okay. I’m ready to shave my eyebrows. 😳
@@AdventuresofAplusK
I am teasing you guys about the trout.
You keep enjoying your travels. I love those views. And you two make the videos worth every minute.
@@AdventuresofAplusK
You’re a sharp guy Adam. I knew you’d pick it up pretty quickly.
@@AdventuresofAplusK
Went to Stephens Gap Cave this weekend here in Alabama. Just a tiny bit cooler weather.
Still keeping a shaved noggin just in case 😊
If you're not camping at the lake -- about how many hours to hike get there? Do you think it's doable to do several lakes and still get back to original parking in the same day? (Can you tell I'm not an outdoorsy camper, lol.) As always, love your adventures.
I'd check out the AllTrails map (linked in description) and info to get a better idea. It says people average about 8.5 hours to do the whole trail, but if you just wanted to get to the Fifth Lake you could shave a couple hours off. If you only wanted to get to Second Lake you could possibly cut it in half. That all depends on your fitness and speed 😅
Hope that helps!
At least you two don’t have any fun. Great video.
I’ve climbed the celestial arete, moon goddess, sun ribbon, v notch, U notch, pulomonium peak, and about everything else there is to climb in the area
you guys are so awesome.
Great Amazing Lakes Indeed but the Best ? the Sierra has a Ton of Amazing Lakes To Hike to they are all over the place.
That is true! We didn't say it was the best, we just asked the question 😀
Beautiful.
Lakes 6 and 7 are a pain to get to going through the marshy areas. I found them underwhelming and not worth the effort to get to so you guys didn't miss out. 😆
Good to know! Thanks!
Love Katheryn dance 😊
