- How to easily diagnose the condition of the horn by jumping the relay, in the fuse box. You can hear the horn straight away to find out if it’s working or if there’s another issue.
thanks for this it helped test my Meriva B. I have already replaced the clock spring and the horn works tested relay also thats working so looks like i have an isse from the rear of the clock spring to the fuse box.
You may have a CIM unit issue, that’s normally the problem, if it’s working from the fuse box.
@@drivewaydiyer6504 Try the switch side of relay to ground
Hi thank you for the video
Was wondering, do you know where the indicator relay is?
Got an issue with my front right side indicator being constantly stuck on.
Thank you!
I think the CIM which has the relays built into it, controls the indicators, you may need to replace this. You’ll need to get this checked by the garage. New ones need coding to the car.
On my zafira b horn itself works even though it looks as though its been rescued from the titanic i ran a direct 12 volt cable to it and it beeps :) the connections on the horn were just spade conections so looks as though its had a different horn in the past i changed the spade connections as they were rused to hell im only getting 3-4v dc then the horn button on the steering wheeel is pressed the relay is clicking away ok ive tried to short across connections as you have shown in this great clip im getting the same readings back at my multimeter looking at the condition of the wiring itself its very tarnished inside the conductivity will no doubt be poor im guessing this could be the problem ? i might even just run another feed into car dash put a push to make horn button and new wiring via a relay to the existing horn as the wiring loom looks a pain.
When you press the horn, can you see how many volts you’re getting at the fuse box, if you’re getting good voltage there, then there’s obviously a relay issue or a wiring issue. Sounds like the CIM is ok.
Where do you get the jump wire from ?
I made it from wire and two spade connectors, soldered them together. If you’re jumping for longer , use protection on it, like a fuse.
Hi we have a vauxhall zafia and had a stereo fitted by Halfords no problems horn worked and so did other controls on steering wheel but months later everything stopped and when trying the horn on steering wheel it turns up the stereo is this something I can do myself or do you suggest taking to main dealer
Thanks in advance John and claire
Sounds like there’s a short behind, you need to take the radio out and have a look, there’s probably a pinched wire. Sounds like a short to ground. Take it out and have a look.
