    I appreciate your comments about "consuming locally." I believe in supporting local businesses while in PR. My last couple of visits I stay away from eating at places like McDonalds, Burger King, and Subway, and don't shop at places like Walmart and Home Depot. Staying away from the fast food is easy, but it's a little harder staying away from Walmart. My mentality is that all those huge corporations basically take all that money and profits OUT of Puerto Rico. When supporting local businesses, that money stays in Puerto Rico, and is fundamentally better for the economy.

      Agreed! It’s specially important to shop local after the hurricane and now after the pandemic since so many businesses struggled because of these events. Also, local food is so much more delicious! 😋🙌🏼🇵🇷

    Ah, the wonderful Camuy Caves. This attraction has been my favorite attraction/destination since I first visited it in about 1990. Over the years I've visited it at least 10 times, and love it every time. If I had to pick a second favorite, I would say El Faro de Cabo Rojo.

      For sure! Las Cavernas del Rio Camuy are absolutely breathtaking! You can’t really describe the experience, you need to be there to understand how it feels to walk into the cavern. Loved it! 🇵🇷🙌🏼😄

      @@BriksTravelGuides Actually I did!! :) I drove over there, paid the $18 for the tour and enjoyed it! The sinkholes were very cool to see. I saw some bats. I heard they have even more caves, but one they don’t have enough people to operate, and another the bridge was destroyed during hurricane maria and it was never fixed. But the government js letting a private entity buy the rights to manage the caves so things should get better (and possibly more expensive)
      I am glad I went before they start the new changes.

    • @BriksTravelGuides
      @BriksTravelGuides  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you, Gonzalo! I believe they are getting some traffic, but I don't think you'll have a lot of problem getting reservations somewhat close to your date. I would call them just to make sure. When you call in to get a reservation they take your information and call you back in about two to three days to actually reserve, so I would keep that in mind. I'm including in the video description the days and times the park offers tours so make sure to check that out as well!

      Hi Jalissa! Thank you for watching my videos and commenting! The parking area is really safe for leaving luggage in the car. It’s inside the park, which you can only access if you pay. Either way, I would try to cover any bag or attractive item with a cover or place it somewhere it wont be seen easily. But, I would say it’s pretty safe! 🙌🏼🙏🏼

      Did you manage to book a tour? Honestly they're short staffed so your best bet if that doesn't work is to just shop up to the park and hope they give you a tour. Not ideal at all, but worth it if you're in the area and have the time. Hopefully they can sort things out soon!

    Brik, does Camuy Cave still require reservations to go in? I called the number you listed and no one ever picks up. I am coming down in mid August. Also I saw your video too late and no available reservation for El Yunque. Are there other ways to access the trails? Thanks

    • @BriksTravelGuides
      @BriksTravelGuides  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Andy! Many people have experienced difficulties booking the Camuy Caves, they seem to be understaffed. I would suggest you keep calling or email mgonzalez@jca.pr.gov. You can visit the rivers and waterfalls near El Yunque. I made a whole video where I share my list of top 5 you could visit! The first one is inside the main visitor (so you need a ticket to visit it), but you won't need a ticket to visit the others. Hope that helps!

    I have a 6 year old would it be something small children can do? How many miles? And what is the expert level, easy, medium or difficult? I get exhausted with my heart due to tachycardia but I still like going on trails if they are doable.

    • @BriksTravelGuides
      @BriksTravelGuides  3 роки тому

      Hi Carolyn! Thank you for commenting on my video! I’d say a 6 year old might be able to do it. They have resting spots during the trail where you can sit down for a bit. I did not track exactly how far the trail is but I’d say the trail to get to the caverns is about half a mile long of paved road. They do have carts that help people go up and down the trail sometimes. Just make sure to contact them to see if they can accommodate you. Hope that helps!

      Hey Eusebia! Honestly, I’m not 100% sure. They don’t do the best of job of providing up to date information on their facebook page about the status of the park. You might want to call one of the numbers I’ve placed in the description to verify.

    • @wiresbringit
      @wiresbringit 6 місяців тому

      Went today, they said people tag them in Facebook and it messes up their updates. I'm not on the book of faces so I can't explain it well. However I did ask the tour guide for their schedule;
      Open Wednesday to Sunday (closed Monday and Tuesday) With tours at 9, 10, 11, 1, 2 & 3. They did close the souvenir shop just after 3 so if you want to look at that stuff I'd recommend getting there by 1pm. Otherwise it was a great experience, just understand you're visiting post hurricane, lights are few, porta pottys... But they're making it work... Just go with a "we're going to see a neat cave" with no real expectations and you'll enjoy. Flashlights won't hurt but not required.

    • @BriksTravelGuides
      @BriksTravelGuides  5 місяців тому

      Great! Unfortunately, Uber might take you all the way to the caves, but there’s no way of hailing an Uber from there back to wherever you want to go. I would say maybe a Taxi would work or renting a car, whatever is cheaper or more convenient for you. Also see if there are tour operators online that take groups to the caves. Not sure there are, but I haven’t checked. Hope that helps a bit! And I hope you get to see them! 😄🙌🏼🇵🇷

      Hola Virginia! Busque información y al parecer el parque de las cavernas esta cerrado por hurto de su sistema eléctrico. Esperamos puedan resolver el problema pronto. Sin embargo, el sistema de reservaciones de ellos a travez de teléfono siempre ha sido ineficiente desde que re-abrieron así que probablemente iba a tener el mismo problema. Yo lo tuve cuando fui.
