I stumbled across this series on Netflix a few months ago, and became an instant fan - I find it amazing how Jack and Victor have managed to bring this series to life. This is the best episode of all of them.. Absolutely Brilliant! (.. or a term used here in Canada - Really Awesome!!) Winston really deserves to be happy, and it looks like Winnie will make this happen. Sorry to see the series has run its course . My parents used to run pubs, earliest price I remember was 96p a pint (£1.12 got you a pint and a packet of crisp) but when I was born it was 62p. Cheapest I've seen these days is my local doing happy hour £2.25 Fosters or IPA.
I'm getting on a bit but in 1973 when I was 17 (I know, under age drinker) a pint was 16p and 10 Embassy Regal ( I was a smoker then but stopped in 1975) was 15p so you could have 5 pints of beer and 10 cigarettes for less than a pound. Of course at that time I was only earning £14.00 a week.
