  • How does the Sacred Timeline work in Loki? I like to think of it as a rope, I walk through that analogy on this little bit of a dive and theory to think about with Loki Season 2. It gives framework for what's on the sacred timeline and what might be a branch.

What i dont get is following. Why is the temporal loom so important to loki and the other guys, if they already agreed on not pruning branching timelines anymore? Since the temporal looms function was to make timelines take a nearly similiar path. But with still trying to make the temporal loom work with those branched timelines, it seems like its not about actually giving the people on those timelines their free will, since the loom will make any timelines that go through it take a certain path. Sure in that case, those branched timelines wont be pruned and the people living on those wont be killed, but there wont be free will, if all of those timelines are forced to take a certain path.

Well, for the existence of the TV and the lives of the people on the TVA for one. But also, I think, because they're worried about a million Kang's popping up. We'll be touching on that in Tuesday's 10 Minute Marvel Podcast episode. But free will with no Kang's around is better than a multiversal war.

So is there a multiverse within the sacred timeline?

How I'm seeing it there are little variations of what people do from day to day, like getting a dark roast coffee versus a light roast coffee but that variation isn't enough to create a whole new branch. Unless the dark roast was poisoned (or light roast) that way. Because it's a minor wobble in a thread or strand of the sacred timeline.

Yes. What he failed to explain are two things. That rope he mentioned is the multiverse, those individual strings in the rope are different universes that will not end up causing a multiversal war. The TVA prunes branches that don’t follow HWR preordained timeline that will birth a dangerous Kang, leading to multiverse war. The second thing he didn’t explain is the where this raw time that is weaved into the loom comes from.
