Discussing the Kill List Bug! [Sniper Elite 5]

- From the end of an upcoming video recorded towards the end of last year, Darth Stark and myself discuss a bug we noticed on the mission info screens in Sniper Elite 5 where kill list achievements aren't tracked, or lose their status after a short while.
A few weeks after we spotted this glitch, I went back and redid all of the achievements and found that after a few days they had been discounted again!

I erroneously used a clip of the wrong kill for Spy Academy. I know that I have killed the correct target in the correct way before because I've got the associated weapon unlock. UA-cam doesn't allow replacement of footage, so I've removed the incorrect clip from the video. 😂
On Occupied Residence, I got killed with the chandelier as an invader...I've been on a bit of a break since

The Spy Academy Kill List target is in the top of the cathedral where the three officers are based. You climb up the first ladder where you can spy on them. Then use suppressed ammo on a pistol preferably and target the Kill list target first 😎
Oh, it was him! Yeah, I’ve used a clip of the wrong guy but I’ve killed him too in the correct way on many, many occasions! 😂
I unlocked all the weapons by the time I finished my first playthrough in May ‘22!
@@duckwit85 Haha how bizarre this bug has happened. I’m on the PS5 and I can’t remember how to check if the same bug has happened to me even though that I know I’ve done all of the Kill Lists the correct way 😎
@@Burnzy_YT_ Check the bottom of the mission select screen, the button should be listed there! I just never saw it until Darth Stark pointed it out to me, despite it saying ‘TAB: Toggle Info’ on the bottom of the screen. SpecSavers here I come!

I've noticed that the box is only accurate according to the most recent completion of the level in question.
I haven’t dropped the V2 on Secret Weapons scientist man since my first playthrough though, and it’s still ticked. I’ve played that mission countless times since then (it’s my favourite one) and he’s still ticked even now over a year and a half later, despite only getting bullets to the face since then!
I’ve also seen these kill targets unticked even after completing them and not replaying the mission after doing so. I went back and redid them a few weeks after we recorded this, and they were randomly unticked again and I hadn’t replayed those missions in the mean time! It’s a weird one!
Just checked my Secret Weapons kill list and it is unchecked. I have crushed him several times.@@duckwit85
The Tab menu has been out for ages, I don't quite remember if it's been out since release but I do remember some of the kill target challenges wouldn't give you the reward and stay incomplete.
It was a real bastard because I wanted the Kar98 and dropping the chandelier on Kummler never worked
I think it was probably always there, we just never saw it until we recorded this in September! The chandelier bug caught me out too, it was a release bug the eventually got fixed. If you dropped the chandelier by releasing it on the wall (the quiet way) it didn’t unlock the Kar98. You had to shoot the chain for it to unlock!
I noticed this bug about a month ago. Having recently gone through the entire campaign on authentic doing all collectibles and kill lists. I noticed some of them were not ticked after completion. Very strange indeed.
Very frustrating for completion. I’d been striving to get all of the in-mission collectibles at one point, to find that these kill challenges were unticking themselves was kind of annoying!

I kept having my long shot achievement taken away on “Spy Academy” (as well as many others).Did at least three videos of me re-doing it.
Now after seeing your video, I’m going straight down to my PS4 and checking my kill lists!

So I checked after seeing this and I'm missing mission 3 and 4 ticks and definitely did all the unlocks I could without DLC or MP and remember the rat mine. But I do have the concrete and poison ones ticked.
If you have the weapons unlocked associated with them, then you’ve definitely done them at some point! At least those don’t re-lock when it unticks them!
Exactly what I needed. It is OK if I have no clue what I done or might do. But someone should keep track. Even for in-game stuff...
I've killed Baumann in the concrete twice and it still hasn't unlocked the type 100 for me.
Try knocking him out and throwing him in yourself if the railing doesn’t work, I think that is an old bug! You should at least be able to unlock the Type 100 permanently doing that, even if it doesn’t record the status on the info screen.
@@duckwit85 yeah, have just tried that today and it says I had unlocked it, but when I go into loadout it's still locked. It's weird (and frustrating). Cheers anyway.
update: weirdly, logged in today and the weapon is now unlocked- But immediately after the mission wasn't!! cheers matey.
It might have something to do with completing the kill List on another level? On a similar issue, I couldn't understand why my previous stealth rating wasn't showing up on mission completion, but I think it had something to do with uppingd my skill level to the next one up.
I noticed you're missing a collectable in CONQUEROR also, a personal letter...
We went back and completed that recently actually!
Yes we did. I was also missing an item on Kraken Awakes, both are now complete. This was recorded in September and was irrelevant to the video we recorded it in, but seemed too interesting to delete forever as I’ve not seen anyone else mention it before!
I mean my axis invasions elim list hasn't updated in like a week

Interesting! This was recorded in September and it doesn’t seem to have been fixed. At this point, it probably won’t be!
You have to kill the kill list targets the same way every time you kill them or it counts them as incomplete
A few others have mentioned this in the comments but its really not the case. I went back and completed the challenges and had them remained unticked even immediately after completing them. At least some of the time it just fails to track when you've done it or it unticks it for no reason.

Go to Select Mission screen hit Toggle Info which is the left side menu button with the two squares

I already answered you two days ago when you asked the first time! You have to unlock the perk first. You select your secondary weapon or pistol and shoot like normal. You won’t be able to do it at all if you haven’t unlocked the perk and I don’t think you can do it in multiplayer. Invaders already have it unlocked automatically.

While it is an annoying bug, it is a lot simpler than you make it sound. It only counts what you did in the most recent playthrough of the mission. So if you do the challenge, it will show it as done. If you then replay the mission and do not do the challenge, it will unmark it. And on and on it goes.
Then why do I still have the kill challenge for Secret Weapons ticked when I haven’t done that since my first playthrough? I’ve played that mission more times than I can count since then. I also went back and completed a bunch of these and when I restarted the game a few days later they had unticked again. I appreciate what you're saying and how it would appear to work that way, but in my experience it just unchecks them randomly.
I just tested this out - I had the tick for Occupied Residence chandelier kill - did a quick run through stabbing the target - exfiltrated checked again and tick is gone. But I can't explain DWs Secret Weapons one.
@@Paul-dv5nlMaybe its supposed to work that way for some reason but is just glitchy at the same time? There is absolutely something a bit random going on though.

This conversation was recorded immediately after a non-lethal completion of Atlantic Wall where a few soldiers were killed by the game for some reason (we only used non-lethal ammo and passive takedowns but the game decided people should still die or they despawned or something), but we never killed Beckendorf and the kill challenge was the only objective we didn't complete, yet it's showing as done!
@@duckwit85Just had a thought while watching your non-lethal video. Do you have a bunch of different save files for the maps? Perhaps that is conflicting with status of the target? I always delete my save files so it only ever sees what I did most recently.
