Roadie here, and this video hasn't changed my changed my mind. But I’m happy to watch GCN presenters ride gravel any time and suffer vicariously through them. And Danni is awesome, more please!

Also, roadie and MTB guy, so for long distance riding I've had success with wider tires (32c) on my road bike to do some occasional light gravel. While I could run my MTB for those routes, the distances involved is too far for the weight and speed my MTB has and too overkill for light gravel. I think most endurance road bikes and even newer aero bikes can fit at least 32c these days.
@@ryoukokonpaku1575 I’ve done some short gravel sectors on my 32c slick tires… and I was always very glad to make it back to the road. 😀
Maybe 32c (or I think I can even fit 35c on my endurance bike) with an actual tread would feel less dicey. And then I could do mostly roads with a few short gravel sectors mixed in.
Danni would make a brilliant new presenter for the channel.

@@gcn Now that I’ve learned about it from GCN, I will. 👍 I live close to the Mississippi River, and there is an extensive flood control levee system topped with gravel roads and surrounded by beautiful vistas. I ride them whenever I get a chance.
Gravel races are so much more fun than road in my opinion. I love the laid back nature of gravel events
@@GregJC honestly, my background is in MTB XC racing and the Giant Revolt AP1 is my first drop bar bike.
Si should come to the US and have a go at cattle wrangling and even bull riding. Confucius nailed it when he said, "Cows are just oversized bunnies."

Didn't know about Rebound till I saw the Strava challenge pop up, planning to hit my local windfarm and hopefully make it round the full route this time as I had a mechanical last time. Don't think I'll be starting at 6am though!

Those cows were so adorably dangerous. Now I know why Si despises cows. They chase after you and stomp on you then will laugh at your disposal.
Young cattle are hilarious. Masses of energy and very inquisitive. Top tips are to walk and if you have a dog let it off its lead as they'll be edgy about it. If they come close wave your arms and tell them to go away!

I don’t have any specific suggestions I’m afraid, I just love the videos of interesting and challenging rides that we can all appreciate and that can prompt us to go out and play! I don’t enjoy the “can I ride up a hill better with a coffee in me” type of guff, but the archetypal real GCN cycling content from great presenters and natural rather than forced chat/banter. Not asking for much, eh?
That was a really lovely video. Well done Si and Danni for making something truly terrifying, look like harmless fun! Cows... actually, they looked like babies who wanted to be bucket fed by kindly humans! 🤣🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄
This reminds me of the GCN+ videos. The simple joy of riding bikes with a friend: great conversation, a lovely soundtrack, beautiful countryside. RIP GCN+ and hope the core staff at GCN figure out a workaround to whatever non-competition clauses were in the contract with Warner Bros so you can bring back some of the simple GCN+ content such as World of Cycling. I remain optimistic.

Having ridden l'Eroica twice, I have had enough of gravel riding to last me but Rebound will be my excuse to ride the Prescott-Russell railtrail on Saturday east of Ottawa and make it a 200 km day on 28 mm tires. Flat farm country--probably with cows!

Tomorrow is rebound 6am start gonna do 85 miles to complete 4000 miles for the year so far what a great and different way to mark it.
Loved doing 50 miles of Rebound last year! This year though, I'm already signed up for a 200km Brevet that week...

I have had to deal with stinging nettles one time when I was a kid. It was horrible. I would have been off the bike for at least two days. Maybe I am super allergic. Good on you guys surviving that stuff.
I genuinely hope that was not scripted getting Danni as she was a great guest and would make her even better if it was unplanned.
was out in the Cotswolds today - got in about 30km of 'not tarmac'. it is pretty cool cruising along the trails although there was one literal ploughed field - better than some of the tarmac!

I must have a go at rebound down here in Australia on June 1st ,the Aussie cows are just as scary down here shouting bbq at them seems to help keep them away even though I’m a vegan , loved the video !

Embrace the nettles, the more you get stung the more you build up resistance! If it’s not working you just need to get stung some more!
I have too Orbea Terra , my is H30 and 2021 model. I ride my Terra all my ride , Randounner , Bikebacking , etc and this i race again Kaldoaivi Ultra Mtb 85 km and 130 km , last year only 130 km

This time of the Year the stingers seem to carry a particular kick to them. Got done a few Weeks ago and it was 3 days later before it wore off.

I spent many the formative year around cattle on English farms (often with a bike) and not once was i killed. Therefore my research shows them to be completely safe....
Did they meet him at the same place they met her? I have concerns about the sequence of events for this ride.

I know this is a long distance ride challenge, but if ANY route guaranteed that I'd get to see and pet doggos, I'd ride 500 miles a day...then promptly stop once said doggo is pet 😂

Try not to scratch your skin if you get stung by nettles. Pushes the chemicals further into the skin and makes it feel a lot worse
