- Having been asked the question “as an experienced caravaner, how do you tow? Hence the video. I don’t profess to be “The Pro” but this shows how I plan my drive and the observations I make. I hope you find it useful. Please feel free to comment and discuss what we do, it all goes to make the roads safer for all.
With all that experience I think you can definitely call yourself a pro Colin. What drives me mad is drivers putting their fog lights on as soon as it starts to rain! My instructor told me to stop so you can see the whole vehicle in front, I’ve not heard or seen it done since so I’m glad to hear you doing it 👍🏼
Fog lights 🤦♂️ then they forget to turn them off. 😂 Seeing whole of vehicle gives you room to get around if they develop a problem and space if the roll back 👍 Thanks for watching and taking time to comment.
Running commentary, takes me back to my learner driver course, I was lucky enough to have the last one in Hampshire Constabulary, I won’t say how many years ago. Hubby was a class 1 and a driving instructor. You can really tell you have the experience. Great video.
Thanks for watching and your kind comments 👍
Great vlog Colin, I would watch the full journey. I often thought about doing a similar vlog, as you know I've done a bit, but never got round to it. I still encourage our drivers to do commentary when delivering CPC's and SAFED training, makes you look further ahead, plan and anticipate.
Top job, Cheers
Thanks for watching Martin, I’m privileged to have had the quality and type of Training that money can’t buy. Commentary is quite fun especially when your driving faster than you can speak, equates to some glorious faux pas 😂😂
This is a great commentary on what we should be aware of and taking into consideration when towing a caravan. I think it should be mandatory for new caravanners. Well done for putting it out there.
Thanks, ethos of The Channel is to help out and share experiences, I’m not perfect as a driver but I do my best. 😁👍
Real pleasure being your passenger Colin :) Always wanted to do my IAM Test but with all the family and work stuff going on I've not yet found the time - one day! Occasionally I try to do the observations out loud (rather than just in my head) thing for practice, but I find having to talk so much utterly exhausting; I'm doubly impressed at your commentary in this video!
Thanks Becky for your continued support, commentary is good fun especially when the speed of the vehicle exceeds the speed of your speech 😂😂
Great Commentary drive and love your vehicle sympathy. Great video loved it 🙂👍
Thanks for watching and commenting 😁👍
Congratulations Colin, you’ve passed your advanced driving refresher course 😃. On a more serious note, that is how you should tow like a pro 👍 looking as far ahead as possible and anticipating other manoeuvres and the unexpected. Brilliant ! Cheers, Rob & Gail 😀
Thanks for watching and supporting Triple C, 😁👍
Great video Colin
I have only been towing a caravan for a couple of years but am doing ok so far - I have been driving since 1984 and have been riding motorbikes as well for most of that time ( last 25 yrs have been big BMW bikes), and that has helped because I am always looking as far ahead as possible, and take road conditions into account as well.
This video is great for new caravan owners, very impressive, nice and easy to follow and understand.
Steve
Thanks for watching and your kind remarks, take care on them two wheels. 😁👍
Great video and commentary, plenty of drivers out there would benefit from watching this 👏👏
Thanks for watching and your kind comments 😁👍
A must watch for any driver who tows reguardless of experience
Thank you. 😁👍
Great video, very informative.
Glad you found it useful Mark. 👍
Nice to see the North West weather didn't let you down 😊😮
Take care and stay safe S&J 😉
Everyone knows we get 365 days of sunshine a year, you just can’t see it above the rain clouds 😂😂
@@colinscaravancapers7307 Mm I've been on a plane too 😜
Hi Colin. Great video. Very indeph mate well done. Paul and Sarah
Thanks Paul & Sarah 😁👍
I presume you are towing the Range Rover Evoke and the caravan ? That's my experience anyway ! 🤣
Seriously though great information and great video !
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Hi Colin. Well that took me back to me driving courses. Very professional tow and commentary. Thanks Phil.🙂👍
Bit rusty 😂😂
Great commentary Colin but regarding the the 2 second rule, the gap should be at least doubled on wet roads
Thanks for watching and commenting, the second rule I agree is a minimum, always drive to the prevailing conditions you can never have too much time or space. It helps develop good practice and makes drivers think about their speed, space and conditions which is good for all of us. 😁👍
Nice one Drive!
Thanks for watching and commenting 😁👍
@@colinscaravancapers7307 You should have posted the whole drive more people not just towists should see this and take note. The standard of driving these days really isn't good. lately i've been getting phantom tail wobble not good.
I will look at posting additional segments thanks for commenting 👍😁
Hi great video would be good to see a review on the tow car been thinking about swapping from a discovery 3 to an evoque👍
Thanks for watching and commenting I’ll try and do that, Evoque is very capable as a tow car, stable in all conditions ( got caught in one of our “named storms “ had to turn around 3 times due to fallen trees!) it’s plenty of torque and I’ve never found it wanting. The boot is small, if you need to carry passengers and caravan kit then you may find it too small. We have our Jack Russell Terrorist who travels in a cage and the awning we fold the seats down.
Still got it Col!👍🏻
