A complete LIST OF THE SONGS by year is available in this link. You can also see some analysis and conclusions drawn there:
    misguidedrant.blogspot.com/201...
This video is intended to give a very light overview of the popular music hits, by year, in the USA, as recorded throughout history.
Very few effects of time travel are known, but one of them includes the sensation that the tracks are getting shorter and shorter as we approach our day and age.
All the pictures are intended to represent at least one of the original authors of the song WHEN it became a hit
Not always will the recording used match the described year (for obvious technological and quality reasons)
Why the U.S.A. alone? Information about its pop history is more easily available and dates further back, as well as the availability of some of the original songs' files.
Accuracy? I cann't guarantee 100% authenticity from the period between 1890 to 1949, but I can guarantee the authencity from that period onwards. My main source was the website musicoutfitters.

I hope you enjoy the video!

Most of them from 1946 onward match the list of "Top Billboard Song of the Year" according to the list at this link - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Billboard_Year-End_number-one_singles_and_albums - However, it seems I've heard a few different ones quoted in the past than those on the list - 1965 Satisfaction and 1969 Aquarius / Let the Sun Shine being among them.

If an Act didn't have the Billboard, (USA), No.1 Single of the Year, they are not in the List. That is how Andy Gibb had the No.1 Hit of 1978, with 'Shadow Dancing'. In the UK etc. it did next to nothing - No.42 in our Weekly Chart. His Brothers, in The Bee Gees, had Billboard's No.2 Hit for 1978, ('Night Fever'), No.4 Hit for 1978, ('Staying Alive'), and No.6 Hit for 1978, ('How Deep Is Your Love').

I get what you're saying and there's nothing wrong with you liking modern music but we have just as much right to dislike modern music as you do liking it.
The problem many of us have with modern music is most all of it is autotuned and promotes sex, drugs and violence which I don't consider to be real music.
No hate on you for liking modern music, but we have our right to dislike what we want for it is just as much our opinion as you have yours.

    • @april1601
      @april1601 4 роки тому +3

Lucid Vision I’m just seeing all these comments saying stuff like “modern music sucks and it’s the devils music and it’s brainwashing kids and Beethoven is lovveveeee Beethoven is liiiiffffeeee” meanwhile they probably don’t know ANY modern music and have only heard about rappers like 6ix9ine or Lil Pump or Gucci Mane and don’t pay attention to the actual GOOD singers like Mxmtoon or Cavetown or Austin Weber or even Billie Eilish (she makes really good songs ngl)
Everyone hating on it are only thinking about those mumble rappers who rap about sex, drugs, money, women and cars but they don’t realize all the different types of music. It’s, like, all that they see in their eyes are “mmgmmmm money kdjdjdjfkdm rapper skkdmdn Kanye west dkkdmdndn booty” on the songs
I’m just saying that maybe if you hate something so much, keep it to yourself? Anyone who won’t agree with you will just insult you so it’s best to keep your mouth shut, besides, no one wants to hear “oh modern music SUCKS devils music blah blah” because that is annoying af and such an unoriginal comment, like you’re just wasting your time on a comment that thousands of other people have written and it’s getting boring reading all of them

I love songs by Pink, Sarah Bereilles, Dixie Chicks, Blonde, Nickel Creek, Big Mama Thornton, Elvis Presley, Kingston Trio, Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Allison Kraus, Good Charlotte, Etta James, Nancy Sinatra, The Weather Girls, Dolly Parton, Mary Mary, .... to name just a couple and missing a lot (the list goes on and on and I'm always discovering new to me music).
There's always good new music. And there's always good old music. The are disturbing and unlikeable songs amoung any age of music.
Older music features all kinds of sexist and racist themes (really listen to 1950's pop songs or try and get your hands on US political songs from when bringing along music was part of any mildly successful political campaign).
Newer music has sexist and racist messages too.
There's not some perfect age of music where there weren't bad messages in music as well as good.

I think 1967 was where i noticed that 70s sound start to emerge. I think every decade after that was huge jumps in the way it was sounding. once you hit the mid 2000s I think it kind of starts to sound like pop we all know and love.
