I just put a huge memory foam mattress on top of ply base with sliding drawers underneath on my new VWT6. Very cheap but very functional as I only require three seats in the front. Also insulated the whole of the van.
When you're putting the Allen bolts in at the front, and not wanting to lose the washers into the frame, a little smear of grease between the washer and the bolt head will stick them in place.
OI, UA-cam, about a minute into this vid and an advert pops up. Yes you gottta pay the bills but youtube is fast becoming unwatchable with far to many ads.
@@CombeValleyCampers it's not your fault. It's unfair on UA-camrs like you. Ads yes. They help fund the site. But they are getting to the point where some vid's I just leave because there are too many . Keep doing what doing . Thumps up to you.
This is exactly what I have been looking for. Perfect video to give me the confidence to fit it myself. One question though, do you know if a T6 single rear seat will fit into a T5. My single seat only tilts forward with no option to go flat. Thanks.
This has given me the confidence to do this at the weekend ! Bits have arrived, will give it a go. Do you have a video how to do the headlining with the perimeter lights ?
Could you remove either the double or rear seat with the bed in place. I know they tilt forward before pulling up and wondered if there was enough space. I want mine set up with the bed permanently ( for boards not people) but the option of being able to put the seats in if needed.
Just thought I'd share this one. I have ordered my fourty winks bed system and I have just started to prepare the van for fitting removing the carpet from the wheel arch to find on my 2016 swb T6 there just hols with no threads what so ever, now what 🤷🏼♂️
Where would be the best place to buy spare bolts? I’ve just bought one of these beds from somebody and there’s no bolts that go in the wheel arch holes? Where would be best and what bolt details are they please?
Love the look of this, exactly the kind of thing I want for my bus. My issue, I have a LWB multivan with all the rear climate control/aircon gubbins. Obviously with the roof lining being a few inches lower, does anyone know if this will allow the rear bed panel to fold over? I’m not concerned about the legs as I can screw these in once I have it past the vertical position.
Hi! We've looked into your enquiry with the manufacturer and need a bit more information to give a full answer. Can you please send you enquiry, with pictures of the van to info@combevalleycampers.co.uk Regards, Leigh
@@CombeValleyCampers Yes, and thank you for your swift reply! Glad you made this video and that there is now an option for a bed to fit a Kombi :) Typically the flightcase style box I just built to fit behind my rear seat bench to hold my gas bottle, stove, sink, BBQ and other cooking equipment is 51.5cm in height -I guess I could reduce that to 50cm by removing the rubber feet and or raise the bed boards by adding washers or spacers. Obviously this box would now be better placed underneath the fold up part of the bed at the rear of the van and be accessed via the tailgate. Just one other quick question though if I may... What are the benefits of re-registering a Kombi as a camper van with the DVLA? Does the vehicle excise duty (road tax) work out less expensive and is it generally cheaper to insure a Kombi as a camper rather than a private light goods vehicle? -I generally drive less than 5000 miles a year on average. Thank you for your time, much appreciated indeed!
Yes, this is exactly the kind of thing I am after for my SWB T6! Is it fairly straight forward to take out again? Been after something semi permanent to use in the summer but also take out to regain the loading area in the winter. Thanks for the video!
I am going to assume that this is an option on the single seat to fold flat. There is an option to purchase a bed frame that will take into account a seatbthat doesn't fold flat
I beleive that a folding single seat is an optional extra when ordering. However, there is a model of fortywinks bed that accounts for a single seat that doesn't fold flat
@@Neil-Aspinall haha, funny but obviously I've already got a t5.1 kombi, the seat tilts forwards, it doesn't fold flat, I assume its the newer models that do this. I wondered if there's a way of converting the seat ive got ?

I’ve looked long and hard for one of these beds for a T4 Kombi.... can I find one? Can I ...... why do these companies only make stuff for t5 and t6 😭😭
After lying on this high density foam I can assure you it is very comfy. However if you wanted the likes of an blow up mattress on top, that would be possible.

Excellent very detailed video. I guess that's the bed I want for my new (to me) VW T6 SWB Kombi. Thank you.
I’ve just had this fitted along with the slide away system. It’s really good.
Brilliant video and brilliant product by the look of it! I had two cups of tea for this video ☕😁
Thanks Colin

Or super glue so they will come out, next time you remove the frame.
Loving the videas, thanks.
Quick question, would these fit a LWB panel van and other makes of van?
i wish this was made for my 2018 Mercedes Metris passenger van - I would totally buy it

Really wish the products you highlight were also available for the US spec. T4 (Eurovan MV).
Hi John. And sorry!!! To be honest, there are plenty of things in the states I wish we could purchase here!
Info: multi-spline bolts as in "tripple square" or, the official name, XZN.
So you know what type of tool to get.

Get your finger out ! I need this in my newish T6 🤣 Grateful for all the tips and help mate. Much appreciated
That is awesome , I might be looking into this , thanks
Really cool set up 👍🏻
But what if you need to use the van for work in the week?
Great video. Does anything like this exist for a Transit Custom DCIV?
Can you use this bed in a vw shuttle 10 plate?
This is an epic bit of kit, love the video. As always really informative, just ordered one from 40winks 👍

Can you get these in Australia
Do you sell the Kombi seat covers in the video and if not do you know where I can purchase these?
I will find out for you
Can you get an answer for this please?
What is the measurement in height between the horizontal box section frame and the factory fitted soft spongy floor please?
The distance between the frame and the floor is 475mm. Hope that helps :)

Ebay or amazon
I can't help but think a strap would be helpful with lifting and lowering the frame

X1.5
Such a good idea. But £600 upwards is way to much for what it is.
£900 with a foam mattress 😳
