YUKARI IS IMPORTANT AND BORDERS ARE SO IMPORTANT, OH MY GOD. Being the master of "borders" essentially means being the master of everything -- because literally everything that exists (and everything that doesn't exist?) boils down to a series of borders.
Either physical or metaphorical, they're so powerful, and yet so very fragile. Think about the two starkest opposites you can imagine... Black and white, day and night, fantasy and reality... ...Nope. They aren't. Just a tweak, and they are indistinguishable. My whole heart went into these lyrics, because this fascinating ambiguous balance, this potent power of creation and destruction, is my FAVORITE thing about this amazing series.

Hmmmm... Character wise, just make them a teasing little shit who has ways to get out of the consequences of their games.
Power-wise, Yukari is significantly stronger than most other characters in touhou, but she holds back at every second. So try something like those.

Yukari is so awesome that she doesn’t even have to try. She’s perfectly comfortable being a mysterious and omnipotent outer god who doesn’t have to flex nuts (‘cause she know she got ‘em). She already rules not just Gensokyo, but quite possibly all of reality, AND unreality too- she only plays the villain in the Phantasm stage because Reimu insisted. Why would she need to enforce her will on anyone? She’s _chill._
This is also why I can’t accept Okina as her attempted replacement. Okina’s still going out there flexing like she’s got something to prove. >__>

That would be Lady Shiki.
+Umbralon Hehe, indeed. That line was supposed to be a shout-out, or call-out, to Lady Shiki. The implication is that there is a *border* between black and white, it is a *border* that keeps black and white from blending into gray, and so it is Yukari who actually has power over her.
(There are valid arguments otherwise, but this ultimate power of boundaries is what I always prefer to believe in.)
+Lyrica Live For Shiki, there is not grey. As a Yama, her judgement is absolute so Yukari has a great disavantatge because she doesnt have a boundary. It's stated by Yukari herself that even if Reimu, Yuyuko and Yukari together against Shiki, they would lose.

Although that's a very possible interpretation of what she meant, I think people read way too much into that one line from SDV, which for instance could've also just meant that Yukari didn't _want_ to fight her, not that she couldn't.
It matters what angle you think about it from; conceptually Eiki versus Yukari sounds a bit like the infallible sword versus the impenetrable shield: a person who can forcefully close the gaps of ambiguity, versus a person who can forcefully open them. It sounds like a stalemate to me. I just want to want to take Yukari's side.
+Lyrica Live Some of Touhou powers are OP, Reimu's Fantasy Nature can float from reality itself aka invulneravility, Suika power too, Yuyuko can invite death, Yukari borders, Remilia can control fate, we dont know the extent, the Wakatsuki Sisters and her master Eirin, Mokou is inmortal but she can feel pain, even Yuugi, the SA 3 stage is said that she can destroy a mountain with one punch, she fights you without throwing a drop of sake, and thats only a few examples, Im thinking the only normal one is Marisa.
+adrian meneses ruiz Exactly~ That's why spell card rules are so wonderful and important (and probably a good reason why Marisa in particular is so big on spell card battles). It's probably impossible to figure out and it doesn't actually matter who should technically be able to destroy who at their full potential. It's all about using their abilities in artful ways, and anyone can actually beat or lose to anyone.

I can only enjoy it with these lyrics now, especially the climax, your voice does absolute justice to how powerful it always has been.

The way they add lyrics, it is common to hear lyrics of most of their songs when listening to original music
Tbh the best part is that there is no climax to this song, thats what makes it beautiful both in and out of character. I mean think the "climax" is a whole 2/3ds of the song
I'm hooked. Your writing is really something to be proud of. You interpret the characters behind the music and the effect is positively staggering.
Your voice is also very pretty! Your pitch is off from time to time (especially in this one. I could hear you sliding into notes here and there.) but you can hear when you're off and fix it. Other than maybe a few adjustments in that direction, if you haven't done so already, invest in a pop filter for your mic. That will pretty much eliminate the harshness of "s's" and "p's".
Lastly: I didn't hear chorus in this one, but in some of your other songs it sounds like you're doing it manually. Without heavy pitch correction, this is really, REALLY hard to get right. I don't know what programs you use for editing and effects, but many of them have plugins and such that do a pretty good job of emulating chorus effects. If you don't find one you like, you can always take the part of the track you want chorused and pitch-shift it up or down. Then you overlay it with the original track and the effect is a perfectly matched chorus.
Please understand this is all meant to be taken constructively and as tips/pointers that you can ignore completely if you so desire. I really do enjoy what you're already doing. I just saw potential to be even more awesome and wanted to point it out. After all, if everyone just keeps telling you how awesome you are, you won't know if there's anything you can do to be more awesome, right?
Jonny11890 !! W-wow, thank you so much for taking the time to offer both support and advice like this!! I really appreciate it! My hobby is the writing (which I'm so glad to hear you like!), not the singing, but of course if there's anything I can do to present better I'm grateful to know about it! I literally know _nothing_ about music, and even after all this time my only strategy is doing a million takes and sifting out whatever I think sounds decent. I actually don't use a mic, but a camcorder, and then convert the video to audio, so I'm not sure what I can do about pops... But, my editor is Audacity, and the pitch-shifting chorus thing sounds like something I can easily do; I'll definitely give it a try in the future! And if there are any plugins you happen to recommend, I'll definitely check them out too! Ahh, thank you very much again!
Lyrica Live I think this is a first for me. People don't usually take kindly to advice on the internet. You are a rare breed, I must say! I'm willing to help in any fashion I can!
As far as the pitch-shift chorus, Audacity is perfect for it. It's really good for a lot of editing stuff. If you're not against doing a lot less takes, but a LOT more editing, I may be able to point you in the direction of some help with some minor pitch correction plugins that would help make things a little more consistent in that area as well. I'll do some research see if I can't come up with something that won't have any crazy side-effects. I don't think you want to end up sounding like T-Pain! Only problem is that I don't see it happening in Audacity that easily so it may involve another program (hence the more editing) but the time you'll save on doing the many takes should compensate.
For the pops, sadly you may be right. Again: I'll do some research and see what I can come up with. There may be some EQ settings you can apply to kill off a lot of that, as I'm pretty sure it ends up locked in the higher treble registers. I'll look around for plugins as well that may be of use.
Again, the SOUND is the only thing that needs work. I cannot stress enough that your writing is beyond reproach. You are an incredible lyricist. With a little dedication, your actual music will be able to match it. For knowing so little about music, you are astoundingly close to hitting perfection.

In a way i love yukari the most. You see, reality is not real, since it is deterministic. Fantasy isn't real too, since it's just a reality which could happen. Truth, actual truth, my nature and yours, lies on a border between real and unreal, it's undefined, fleeting thing. Yukari references symbolism of this.
It's so beautiful, isn't it? That's why I think ZUN nerfed her hardcore, describing and depicting other characters as stronger over the years. He gave her the most amazing ability in the franchise only to pretend it had limitations all along afterwards. Maybe I'm just dumb but it doesn't make sense to me, the idea that the power to essentially will anything into existence or nonexistence is somehow limited, and it makes me sad because the concept of boundary manipulation is just so beautiful. I love Yukari. I'll always see her as the embodiment of everything that captivates me about Touhou. 😢💜

It would be difficult not to call this one of the greatest final boss themes of all time. It never loses energy for one moment. The lyric choice is fantastic. Yukari truly sees all and knows all.
Looks like this one song (with all its modulations and fast tone raising and dropping) is a bit too hard to sing, that even your vocal came into misfit sometimes. But, lyrics is also great; as usual, a good depiction of another one Touhou character, Yukari - who is not less harder than melodic aspects of this song, I suppose.

+Nathan Xiong (CannedPsycho) A circle has -- or perhaps is -- a border of an inside and an outside; all shapes can be manipulated along the border of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional (Yukari actually has a spellcard referring to that boundary), and everything in general simply has a border of existence and nonexistence. I'm fine with hearing theories and opinions otherwise, but in my mind Yukari will always be the most perfect OP creature ever to grace this oh-so-fragile world.
Lyrica Live Well the void has no boundaries and what I think also has no boundaries or borders is the darkness. The darkness can exist when everything else does not and you know who has a special connection with the darkness? Rumia does with her manipulation of darkness. Also I believe Yuuka may also be pretty strong maybe even stronger than Yukari but i'm too lazy to check.
+Nathan Xiong (CannedPsycho) There is a boundary between any two unlike things. Where one thing becomes another, there's a boundary. So, there is a boundary of light and darkness. Yukari opens up gaps that seem to lead straight into the void, so I really don't think voids are her weakness. "Gaps" deal with the boundaries of space, so even if she's in a voidlike place with no light for miles around, or even if she's thrown into a whole void dimension without any light at all, she could open up a gap to another place or plane where there is.
Rumia is admittedly a fun one to imagine might be super powerful, though there's no proof. And it's true that other characters like Yuuka and Eiki have been specifically noted to be extremely powerful. But with the way powers are handled conceptually in Touhou, rather than with tiers and stats, there really is no objective "most powerful" person-- of course, not even Yukari herself.
Still, in the bigger picture, I feel like Yukari is the one whose power is most obviously supposed to be emphasized. She basically created Gensokyo. Gensokyo itself is a BORDERLAND. How could anyone in a borderland be stronger than the border-master? Yukari's power is still one I believe can _theoretically_ do absolutely anything. It doesn't mean there's no one who couldn't ever beat her in a fight, but she's forever the one I most admire!
Lyrica Live Well there are humans in Gensokyo. I am a human as well and what I say is "when there's a will, there's a way". I also heard once that Yukari keeps the humans happy to keep them from taking over Gensokyo because they really could do that.

Yukari does a lot of things that define the power balance in Gensokyo. She keeps the humans happy because a happy human does not seek to change the world s/he's living in. She keeps the humans content because a content human leads an easy life which leads to the human becoming easy prey. She keeps the humans in blissful ignorance because knowledge is like a plague to beings like youkai who embody the fear of the unknown. Everything she does, _especially_ the things she do that favor humans, she does for the sake of youkai and for the sake of maintaining the magical nature reserve she created.
I think it's important to remember that the most dangerous thing about Yukari is not, in fact, her ability to manipulate boundaries in a series taking place in a borderland, because there are a lot of worlds outside of that borderland: Higan, the realm of the dead, is not a part of Gensokyo, so Eiki can very well be more powerful than Yukari. The Lunar Capital exists in a dimension separate from, but similar to, Gensokyo, so the Watatsuki sisters can also be more powerful than Yukari. Senkai and Makai are also dimensions separate from Gensokyo, and though I doubt Miko is nearly as powerful as Yukari, I would definitely consider Shinki to be around her level... So, no, the most dangerous thing about Yukari isn't her ability to manipulate boundraries but rather that she is Yukari... Unpredictably capricious, obfuscatingly petty, stupefyingly manipulative and supremely intelligent Yakumo Yukari.

At this "breaking hour," like a breaking dawn, would be when a new one begins. Basically, you could say the meaning is "when the right time comes"... or "when the wrong time comes." Just an ominous way to announce some kind of beginning.
"Blossom like a flower" is taking the motifs of PCB to relate to her ability of opening up new worlds -- like a closed-up bud gets expanded in all directions, which the rest of the verse goes on to describe.
The use of a somewhat destructive sounding term like breaking, in contrast with a very beautiful sounding word like blossoming, is fitting since she's talking about a power that can destroy and create, multiply and divide. Something like that.
